I think this is the crux of the problem. With MMR ceiling fixed, this all goes away or never happens. From my standpoint Blizzard acted properly, but not intelligently. Seems like a pithy thing to warn a progamer about account sharing when tourneys and team houses do it all the time, sanctioned or not. It was just unintelligent and short-sighted for the community rep to even speak up, let alone do it in a way where more than a few people would see it.

NA, SEA, KR, EU, China, Russia etc etc. Will wait for the apology to be posted by blizz. If you feel gravely offended by stuff like this you really won't make it far in real life without breaking down. This isn't even a big deal...

I agree with blizzard because they are a business and having people openly 'cheating the system' on a streamed event is unacceptable. although i think that blizzard should probably let this one go assuming that Huk gets his own EU account soon. I can see why they wouldn't want to delay playing to obtain an account for Huk during the homestory cup... They have an Account for HuK in europe, but he cannot play on it for ladder because he has sat in queue for 20+ hours and he hasn't still been matched in a game. He was playing on his own account during Dreamhack.

Classic Blizzard to enforce the Terms of Use the players agreed on when installing the game. So classic a company enforcing an illegal contract. In europe it is illegal to present a contract after you bought something.

It would probably be as simple as making a certain amount of people (all grandmasters? all grandmasters + top 8 master per division?) auto-pass the matchmaker filters if you're high enough. Mostly, it is a problem because the ladder is used by Blizzard for tournaments and so on and it is theoretically possible to get kicked out of grandmaster for "inactivity" or to drop in ranking due to an unused bonus pool. Otherwise it could be sort of fair to say, "There's nobody at your skill level, so the game can't auto-match you. Organize customs if you want to play."

People need to chill. Why are everyone so quick to rage over small things? And why do people equate battle.net features or lack of LAN with a community manager asking people to follow the rules? Small things? Its exactly because of sub-par battle.net features that people share accounts, and blizzard decided to target TLO and HuK, in what seems like a PR stunt. And this sucks, too. What if blizzard DID ban TLO's eu account? TLO would buy another, blizzard would make 60 more dollars, and some implicit rule would be made to not stream account sharing; even though Blizzard probably wont mass ban average players who share accounts. Players will rage at blizzard, but they don't really have to change anything.

Just for clarification Huk has his own account on EU but the MMR is too high to find games.

People are overreacting here because they are ready to jump on the "Blizzard Hate" bandwagon the instant they don't agree with them.

Whether account sharing is bannable or not should not be part of the thread. then what are we supposed to discuss?...

1. Blizzard has rules against account sharing but their "rules" are ridiculous anyway, I bought the license for my account and it should be my right to share it with whoever I want as I can with all my other posessions. 2. Whatever they recoup by threatening pro players as a scare tactic will hurt their reputation, making them seem like greedy control freaks. 3. Ladder isn't taken seriously enough to pop a vein over it, account sharing & prizes or not.

I know nothing about the laws in Europe, but it would seem that the terms of use agreement is not for using the game, and perhaps therefore not illegal? Rather, it is for using a particular Blizzard service (Bnet), which you can't access untill after agreeing to the contract. On a more related note, while I don't agree with Blizzard doing this, I imagine there might be a good reason for it that we don't know about. I also don't think it's that big of a deal, because Huk can borrow plenty of other accounts from the privacy of the OGS-TL house.

It's within their rights to hate Blizzard if they feel like it. Your post is meaningless.
