"Ahhh my, Moon...... You made it 2-1 with macro games... So why the hell are you doing 2 all-ins in a row? TT sob TT"
"Sigh... It's my fault for actually expecting something. What was that? Damn it, Nestea should've went."

Ahhh... how do I console myself?"
"It's happens. Also, HuK is a GSL-leaguer and he's not active in the foreign scene so I don't really get the reaction TT. Still, it's fun to see a non-korean compete with a korean and take the win. If we won everything, there would be little point in watching"
"Well played HuK"
"I hope this serves as a good stimulant for korean players"

I share this sentiment. The SC2 community's single-minded fixation on nationality is becoming a little obnoxious.

Watch any sport and you'll see that the best, most powerful games come out at things like Olympics (hockey), World Cup and other event where you play for YOUR country. Nationalism and Patriotism drive people to be better because its not just about them, its about their homeland (in some cases Motherland! )

How fun would the Olympics be if there would be no nationalities? i think it's maybe an issue when it becomes one country (korea, obvs) vs all the other countries. but yeah, i wouldn't say patriotism is 'obnoxious', but the general vibe of 'support who you like' in SC is a lot nicer than the hatred embedded in most sports...

Hatred is a part of passion. If you're a passionate person, you dont just love something or someone more then other things, you'll also feel all other ranges of emotions more distinctly. And a little anger/hatred is not a bad thing per se, only if combined with terrible judgement or loose morals.

Love seeing this, keep up the good work!

huk is representing Liquid not canada, canada didn't send him to korea, liquid did... so that olympics national pride comparison is not valid.

I personally don't really care about "normal" professional sports (I don't really follow it, it's not for me) so I don't know.
I do know for SC/SC2 I root for people that play the same starcraft 2 race as me (zerg) and people that I semi know/help...if ever, or if I ever get onto a team, I'll root for the players, otherwise.................. Just Zergs and really good players.

If people are surprised at the nationalism in this game they must've never followed a regular sport. There is nothing weird or dumb about supporting someone based on their nationality.
|
Seems like all they talk about is him not being Korean, and then weirdly rationalising it by him being "a GSL-leaguer", and "half-Korean" and "not active in the foreign scene anyway".
Geez, does everything have to be so focused on race all the time?
I know foreigners get excited when we beat Koreans in tournaments, but these Korean reactions seem to be a little bit unsporting to me, which I don't think the foreign community does as much.

yet again Korea show us who's the powerhouse of starcraft, and as they said, even tho Huk isnt an korean, he still have been playing in Korea and GSL for months now, i would allmost count him as an korean progamer.
OT: Huk hwaiting @ GSL!

Ahm, no? Thats just not true... In fact many VERY "popular" sports aren't played at the highest level at the "World"-Championships... Examples? Soccer, Icehockey, Tennis, Basketball.... Hell, every sport were the players aren't constantly starting for "their country".
Nationalism and Patriotism drive the fans, not the athletes.

Exactly my sentiment after I watched the finals. I love you and hate you at the same time Moon
