I can't speak for others, but for me personally, I think that the success or lack thereof of foreigners who have gone to Korea has impacted the likelihood of other teams or players going to Korea very negatively. When things don't go very well for foreigners, it makes other foreigners think twice about heading to Korea. The reason that I was worried about this was that there are teams which I believe (on paper) would have a higher chance at succeeding in Korea, and would thus make other foreign teams more willing to travel out to Korea.
However, if a team travels out to Korea, has poor results and ends off worse off than they would have been if they never went, that is going to make other teams be afraid of the same happening to them.
Then again, I'd imagine that each team is more than capable of judging themselves as to whether or not they are ready, but things have definitely gone very quiet since Kiwikaki/TT1/Spades tried to qualify for GSL. After that, people just kinda stopped trying until now.
I do fully support FXO and wish them the best. Its just that in my opinion, there could have been a better "first foreign team to enter GTSL", such as Fnatic or Dignitas. Well, they could also attract other teams to Korea if they do well. I think you're completely underrating FXO, they have pretty beastly players. Even if they do get owned, so what? They tried something that other teams were afraid of or didn't have enough money for, and they can get the awesome experience of going to Korea at the worst.

I understand your logic, and appreciate you putting it coherently into words. However, I just believe that regardless of any match outcomes, they will be better off for having gone to Korea, in team cohesiveness, individual skill, and all sorts of other ways, and therefore other teams should see this and think positively about going.
Also, I think teams in general already know the biggest factors in deciding to go or not, being (IMO) the cost, the opportunites that you get vs those you lose, and any personal issues (seperating from family, culture shock, etc), so I doubt based on the results of FXO competing if teams will change their stance much either way.
In the mean time, I plan on viewing this as the positive move that it is - FXO fighting!

Going to be a pretty crazy adventure, and I'm sure none of us would want to go without support! Hopefully you guys will be cheering for us at least a little! We know we'll probably lose, but still we want to keep up with the Koreans... hopefully you can't blame us!
So manner Good luck and I know at least I'll be rooting for you! Just go and do your best and pave the road for all future foreign teams in Korea. No pressure or anything.

Sheth and qxc are both good, but that's not enough for a team league. I outlined the reasons why I think it is bad if they don't end up doing well. It sets a really bad precedent and gives hopeful teams one more reason to be worried.

All very good points and I agree completely that the team will undergo a positive change from their trip. If the less successful players in FXO are talented guys just needing the right practice environment, they will skyrocket in Korea. And I really, really hope that they do. I just hope that they have enough time to practice on the Korean server before the tournament begins. I can try to be nice all I want, but there is no hiding the fact that the majority of FXO has a long way to go before they can reasonably hope to beat teams like IM, Slayerz, ST, etc. And we really don't do anyone any good by trying to act like that isn't true.

its wonderfull gom is extending the olive branches to the foreign scene. it would be cool if next time they did an all-star team league where they send the best 3 from each race for me it would be

I have no clue why you guys are disappointed about FXO going to Korea. Some of these players can definitely compete and also have great potential to become great.
I'm sorry, but none of them can :/ And it's going to be a huge dissapointment, because this team is representing the whole foreign scene at a pretty average level.. nobody has any chance to compete in korea on a level to represent foreign players. I know that it's not the player's fault and everybody in their place would take the chance to go to korea, but due to being the first foreign team there, they have the status of representing the foreigners skill - which they absolutely cannot. so it's kinda disappointing for people who hoped for foreigners making an impact in korea.

As much as I would have liked to see how stronger teams like Dignatas would do in the GSTL against the Koreans (Naniwa and SeleCT are code S level players I believe), I do wish FXO best of luck, as they will need it. FXO Hwaiting!!!

even if FXO woulndt go, I dont see any team would go in the future. I mean most of the teams are just not willing to give up their higher winning chances back home in their own cups and tournements. also most of them doesnt have the money to finance such a adventure. Even teamliquid cant send their whole team. also if FXO show poor results, it woulndt be the first time. I mean watch the first round of gom world championship... noone survived the first round besides dimaga and tt1 ( who played against a foreigner in the first round). the team show match was close but most of the players like SEn said that the koreans didnt take it seriously.

Because the NA viewership has never even heard of them. I'm pretty sure if they could go game for game against top Koreans and were signed to a major team somebody would have heard of them by now.

FXO fighting! Good luck guys, no matter what happens it's awesome that you're all going to Korea to compete.

Best of luck guys i'll be supporting you!

Wow this is going to be awesome! Best of luck FXO!

Eh, I really like QXC and Sheth as players, but could never really get behind FXO as a team. I think they'll do resoundingly meh, and will most likely be all kill meet for any teams with S-Class players. I'm excited to see more foreigners (obviously) but FXO simply is not the best representation of the foreign scene. A Dignitas, Team Liquid or even EG or Root would do better. GLHF in any case!
