Attitude in this thread has stunk. It doesn't matter if they get all-killed every game, there's a lot more that makes this worthwhile.
On purely a skill front, it's like when the African teams started getting invited to the World Cup (soccer). Until you have the experience of playing in the most difficult environment against the best players, you'll always be up against it.
FXO will be supremely better for the experience and this could open doors for a lot more players, and maybe even start us down the road of GSL actually being a truly global league. The more people that get involved, the better competition will be for everyone - Koreans included.

Ah, this must be the big news they were referring to yesterday during GSL! Really excited to hear it, should be interesting to see how well they end up doing, and if HuK or Jinro play for oGs-TL!

Actually, there's a good example here.
The first season of the World eSports Games for Counter-Strike featured a bunch of European teams and a couple from Korea and China. The Asian teams got obliterated in their first season. NoA won most of their games against the Asian teams by ridiculous margins.
Even in the second season, teams like GamerCo were well beyond the Koreans. Here's a quote from a match report:
Project [04:13] GamerCo - Project: ryu, ssamba, loki, termi, Solo - GamerCo: DarK, MasTeRnoOk, exodus, Ph33R, Hanes - Date: Sunday June 5th 2005
Pre-Match Comments: If Project stand any chance of making it into the 2nd stage they need to take the win over GamerCo who disappointed many people in Season 1. GamerCo should have improved for Season 2, and their first match against Project should still be a walkover.
Post-Match Comments: As expected, GamerCo took the win over Project, nothing special to say, one comment was that GamerCo has doubled their WEG wins now, but that was purely commical [sic], GamerCo could have found the confidence needed to take it to Catch-Gamer in their 2nd match.
Hanes and Ph33R were beasts back in the day, but think how good solo became. He practically slaughtered world-class teams on his own for a few years after that.
But back then, people expected the Asian teams to get fisted. That included the best teams out of China. Abitstrike did well in the first and second seasons, admittedly, but you have to remember - people adopted the same attitude for them as they're taking to FXO now. (That said: Abitstrike still finished fourth.)
It doesn't hurt to keep a bit of perspective and look back at history every now and again.
edit: Here's a record of the Asian teams improvement over the course of the various WEG tournaments. http://www.gotfrag.com/cs/results/weg/

This is really cool. Good luck FXO!

Sheth and Friends : The quest for the holy Grail... Star League
Sheth -- I am in the position of Arthur before he took his kingdom. I have been given the responsibility to retrieve the holy grail. I will try my best with the help of my friends to retrieve this Grail from those who seek to abuse it. I have the responsibility from The Boss to find this and I am set on doing it for him.
Sancho PanzQXC -- My trusty bandana wearing sidekick. He will help water the donkeys and run around a lot doing stuff for us.
Moonan Light -- If you've ever watched Death Note or even heard of it you will understand this. Moonan takes the role of Kira or Light in this adventure. He seems like a quiet kid, however he has the power to kill. All is not what it seems with him and hopefully with his help, the grail will appear closer then ever.
Tyrion Slog Lannister -- Slog; everyone needs a Slog. He provides comical moments and some deep insights. Mostly though we can laugh at him because hes an imp. Silly Slog.. tricks are for real men! (He also doubles as Harley Quinn from Batman)
Crocodile Duntgun -- The foreigner who is even more foreign then the American. Duntgun comes from the land down under. He doesn't yet have the teeth of the animals he's killed on his clothing, but perhaps one day. He is basically the sort of person who could one day start cracking skulls and kissing bikers to make them drop cups from their heads. Crocodile Duntgun is there to make us look tough and help us out in a pinch.
Filthypool -- Like deadpool from X-men. He is only the guy carrying the swords though at the moment. He hasn't quite been infused with the DNA of all other SC2 Mutants yet. As of now he is just a witty smart alec who will provide the team with help. He is also very off the wall, you never know what this mutant will provide.
Karlhan -- He is the Gohan to my Goku, and the Trunks to Moonan's Vegeta. Karl is the son who has huge potential. Will Karlhan manage to go SSJ2 Versus Cell saving us all? I hope so.
Wolf -- He is the Slog in the back of this picture. He is the Smeagol (My precioooouuussss) in this story. http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=222745 He will never have the ring. (His shirt that I still haven't sent him)
Boss - He is da bawss. He has given us the commission and as such brave warriors, (well all except Sancho PanzQXC) we shall manage to overcome the odds!! Like a boss.
Tinker Belaniel -- This person will be our little pixie guide. He will be their the entire time. AKA as Daniel, he will provide us the pixie dust to win. Perhaps he will also be the wizard to give Sancho PanzQXC some courage as well.. only time will tell...
My take on us going to Korea ^^

Please add Sheth's post to the OP.
Also, hopefully Moonglade resolves his issues. GSTL format only requires 4 players per match at most until the finals, and Sheth/qxc/Moonan/Moonglade would be beastly.

:D This is great news! But does this mean that there is going to be a FXOpen team house ? Because that would be ?SWEET I can't wait to see Sheth play against the top of the top!

Great news for FXO, and for e-sports globalisation in general. I had a feeling it would be FXO - anyone who has happened to watch Sheth's stream and talk to him and Boss would appreciate how serious and dedicated thay are to ensuring the success of FXO as a team, and by doing so helping to bring e-sports more into the mainstream.
As for the haters, I have to say I am confused by their standpoint in general. As far as I am aware, it is NOT the case that there is only 1 spot for a foreign team and FXO beat out other teams to it. As I see it, other foreign teams are still able to participate etiher in whole like FXO, or in part through the mercenary system. So if you are annoyed that your favourite team/players are not in it, look to them first and foremost - it is a personal decision that each player and team must make.
Lastly, to the guys in FXO, remember that for every hater, there are 10 fans sitting there in silence reading this - take heart in the fact that the vast majority of us foreigners will be cheering for you on the day ^^.
FXO fighting!

Also, if the FXO prescence in the GSTL becomes regular, the fact that their team house is in Malaysia is a big advantage - little time difference and shorter/cheaper flights to Korea means that moving their team members between the two is much more feasable.

Hahahah awesome but I can't quite understand who this is. Is this optikzero? !

Good luck to FXO in the GSL and GSTL and screw all the non believers in this thread . Just by competing in GSTL you have my respect . This move will no doubt strengthen you as a team .
|
Good Luck to FXO! i hope they do well and pave the way for other teams that have hopes on competing... that said, if they get all killed i will not forgive them, cause it will keep the other teams shy of trying it but they won't
I hope dignitas plays next!

fxo as a team havent won any teamleague in the foreigner scene. i just think they dont derserve a spot in this. they are a good team, but not top 5 imo. I don't know if there's any team league in the foreign scene. Name a foreign team that has won a team league!

this is awesome news. i can't believe the attitudes of some people in this thread tbh.

Good luck to FXO! Hope that you guys can use this awesome opportunity to the fullest, and good luck qxc on getting back into full island-scanning form!

Root has won 2, Fnatic and EG have each won one.

This is great news! However to be practical and all, FXO is likely to get all-killed very easily as they only have 2 or 3 good players. I was hoping for Dignitas but i hope these guys do well! Good Luck

words cannot express how excited I am to see optikzero attempt to cheese and then lose every game on korean TV

Great news! Nice to see GOM inviting some foreigner teams too to GSTL!
