Sweden #1

After that it's several countries all close to each other:

Ukraine, Poland, Germany, USA, Canada, Russia, France in that order more or less

Not sure exactly where China stands tbh but they should be up there.

Any of those listed above could take a nation war from Sweden. It's actually pretty exciting that it's so difficult to pick a clear top 5.

Depends massively on if we're talking in a tournament or overall.

For example the USA has:

Idra
Huk
Sheth
Select
Gatored/Illusion/Tyler/Destiny/QXC/KawaiiRice/Axslav (as the 5th guy)

So in a format similar to IPL Team Arena I'd say the USA can field a lineup as strong as any non Korean Nation.

But beyond the depth of their big four (two of which are debatebly Canadian and Korean) they don't have a lot to rival Sweden.

china as 5?

only loner made a small impact at blizz con way earlier but since then they havent had any results that are worth mentioning
they always do really poorly at foreign tournaments

also russia is no way better than canada or germany - nor is USA

france are pretty much stephano and tod then it becomes very mediocre

ukraine poland and sweden are probably the top 3 (non-korean ofc) and then france and germany and canada pretty much on the same level imo

then quite a bit of nothing and then probably russia and USA (only atm ofc but sheth and qxc are really not that active in tourneys lately and that 2 europeans were top 4 at us qualifier pretty much tells the story)

First is definitely Sweden. USA and Ukraine would be next on the list, not sure which would be 2 and which would be 3.

Germany are better than Poland. Poland have two top foreigners but almost no depth. Germany can put out a good 10 players.

Huk could be American if he wanted (legit dual nationality) and Select has represented the USA at Blizzcon.

Select has alternated his flag throughout much of his gaming career, if I remember corrently. I thought I remember seeing him fly an American flag at times during his DoW and WC3 days. Could be wrong, though.

Any of those listed above could take a nation war from Sweden. It's actually pretty exciting that it's so difficult to pick a clear top 5.

USA would lose 9/10 times to Sweden, Ukraine, Germany and Russia in a Best of 7 proleague (not winners) style format. And since the point of nation wars is the depth of the team I feel that would be the most appropriate amount of games. I have no idea why US players aren't as good given their potential and the amount of people on the NA server. I would guess it has something to do with the gaming culture and just how spread out the whole scene in the US is.

However given the MLG's and CSL and HSL I think in 2-3 years the US should be easily in the top 3 nations regarding player strength and depth along with China and South Korea. But right now the talent from the US is pretty much a joke compared to the smaller more compact European scenes.

France and Poland also have better depth and strength than the US team at the moment, but they're not as far ahead of the US as other nations. I really think it's criminal how underrated the Russian team is, unfortunately they're always always always plagued with Visa problems.

Right now if I had to rank the top four I'd put Sweden and Ukraine ahead by a far stretch then Russia and finally Germany. Of course China is a complete unknown to me so I won't comment.

As a Norwegian I have no bias as my Country sucks except for the people on Gamers League and I really hope they step up.

I really doubt that Select has an american passport.

I agree that Germany is better than Canda by the narowest of margins (DAMN YOU HASUOBS!!!!!!!) But, I'd rank Canada over USA any day and I don't think I'm even being too biased. Guess it all depends on how you count HuK though.

Also I almost think Ukraine could beat sweden in an epic nation war these days after IEM Kiev... Sase, Naniwa and Sjow would put up a hard fight though, but I think the ukranians could beat the rest of Sweden's lineup pretty easily now (though Thorzain is still a beast). Fine, I guess sweden still wins, but it's kinda close at the top there.
I root for Euro Zergs, NA Protoss* and Korean Terrans. (Any North American who has beat a Korean Pro as Protoss counts as NA Toss)

He moved to USA late in DoW history. Even if he used an american flag (which I really don't remember. I know he played some tournaments a while after moving but still used korean flag afaik) he was a korean citizen.

Oh and sweden would rip every non-korean nation in SC2, just as they would have done in DoW :D

It makes me sad that so many people are underestimating Germany, I would say that they are close behind the US (only because the US has so many players to choose from) and ahead of Poland.

Also, SeleCT didn't "represent USA" at Blizzcon, he was there because he won that NA Blizzcon thing that he got invited to because he pretty much owned the NA ladder at the time.

I don't know why you would say that based on a tournament where only 1 swede participated and he got eliminated by a korean. Was like 4 ukrainians there i think and 1 swede. It doesn't say much really.

Not a fair comparison imo.

We will have to see when there is a more even number of players from both countries competing in the same tournament.
