Well, I don't ladder that much. I placed gold when the game came out. At the beginning, I had about 50% win ratio. I started playing a lot of custom games (I mean, regular 1v1 custom) because laddering was stressing the hell out of me. So I played a 1v1 once in a while, when I had the courage to do so. And I soon noticed that I was roflstomping every opponent I met in ladder. I was eventually matched with plat, and them even diamond players, and still winning all these games. Promotion would never come. My record went to something like 20-2. One day, I'm furious about the no promotion thing and start to chain games like crazy. I lose 10 in a row! I'was so sad and telling myself that I would never be diamond A few days later, I play one game, win it and BAM, there it is: direct promotion from gold to diamond You can imagine the banana grin!
Nowadays, I'm a high diamond player. I play like 4 hours a week, so I'm having trouble to get to masters yet... Maybe one day!

My promotions were the easiest thing ever. Started playing the game did about 10 of the slow ladder games and realised just how terrible I was at sc2. Played against the AI doing the basic build 3g/4g/2gr. Watched gsl and worked some of the rush/cheeses into my play then practiced defending cheese with a friend. Then made a few timings with forge to attack with.
My placement matches put me into platinum. Won 90% of my matches till I was high diamond. Think my masters game was a ffe cannon rush into 6 gate.

I was playing 1v1. I crushed every opponent I had in silver. I played against a gold, won, played another gold, lost to cheese, played silver, crushed the guy in a macro battle, played a gold and lost to cheese, played 2 silvers and crushed them all, played a PvP gold and lost to 2-gate after I blindly hard-countered 4-gate. Still not promoted :/ On topic, I was playing 2v2 silver random. I got completely owned (by cheese) by gold level players, the first I played. Then I beat 2 bronze players and got promoted to gold. I then won 3 games in a row =O I was playing my 3v3 placement match. I was expecting to be demoted from platinum to gold, because my 11-6 record was reallllllly badddd. I proceed to get crushed and get promoted to diamond. It was a What the f.... moment. I immediately played my 4v4 placement match, crushed the other team and got promoted from platinum to diamond.

Started playing when SC2 just came out for about 2 weeks with around 60 games played. Placement got me into plat but I promptly promoted without dropping any games. Didn't play for months and came back just before ladder reset/season 2. I first had a losing streak which evened out my win ratio then started winning a lot more often. Season 2 came and I maintained about a 60-65 win ratio for another 100 games or so and then I promoted to Masters.

When i first got my beta key on april 1st 2010 (I was so afraid that it was an april fool ) I placed in silver, which was in the middle back then. Then I shared the acc with a friend and we 6 pooled our way into plat xD (the highest league). Thats actually why I picked zerg in the first place )'_'( Then I switched over to baneling busting all terrans. Nobody knew of that strat back then, so I won all my zvt's back then I feel so evil now
Since then I've always been in the highest league within a few games I guess thats a good thing, but I don't get to feel the joy of being promoted

hmm lets see..
copper (beta) -> silver (retail) -> gold -> silver -> gold -> plat -> gold -> plat -> diamond (when it was still the highest league, yay) -> plat -> gold (epic losing streak after playing customs only for 2 weeks) -> plat -> diamond -> plat
I feel playing customs is highly detrimental to ladder performance. Always got demoted from diamond after trying to improve on some builds in customs only for about a week. Thats a pity, since I felt customs are much nicer for improving macro play, since people tend to practice their builds more instead of just trying to bust your behind with the fastest cheese available.

Late season 1, I just could not get promoted to masters. I was one of the top 20 diamond players in points, I would go on occasional winstreaks, just could not get the promotion and finally stopped playing so frequently as I realized it probably not happen for me.
Then one day I fast expand vs a terran, he brings a super weak marine attack which I shut down... then a few minutes later he comes up after me with stimmed marauders and a couple ghosts (?), which my speedlings take care of without too much effort.
Major WTF afterwards as I got a masters promotion for it. Checked the guy's record and he was mid level masters, I guess he thought I'd go roaches and he would plow through them with marauders and snipe or something, lol.

Until now i got two promotions, starting at bronze league. I got my promotion to silver in my first game after i stopped playing ladder for like two month, because i was frustrated i wouldn't get promoted.
My promotion into gold was after the placement match for season two. Actually i didn't want to ladder so i asked a friend of mine to play a custom game. But he answered he just started a ladder game. So I thought i would ladder too. Only to get matched up with my friend. Instantly in the game he starts to curse and after i scouted, i saw he hadn't picked his actual race and i got an easy win after a proxy rax marine all in which I held. After the game he told me his roommate played on his account and switched races.

I was Platinum after my placement matches back in August 2010, then I was quicky demtoted to Silver, because I was obviously too bad for Platinum. In Silver I won the majority of my games and I was promoted to gold very fast, then Platin, then diamond. And 1 week after the Master league came out I was masters.

I started late last season having never played any rts games competetivly at all...lost all 5 placement matches..lost about 30 beginner matches then skipped them..my score was like 8-36
Then a freind started teaching me a few things and i suddenly turned my score around to like 80-60 but remained in bronze
practiced some more before doing my season 2 placement match ..Then got stuck n a map that id never played before after a 30 min macro game and 3 tech switches i finally lost but was placed in silver
Now to work on getting higher

I got placed in copper, won against a copper, silver and lost to a gold, didn't play anymore before season two started, lost the first match and was placed in silver.
.... and until further notice, silver is where I belong. My macro is terrible and my micro is worse. After watching all the GSL seasons, I know how the game SHOULD be played, but it's too hard mechanically. After playing the first game or two my hands usually start shaking like i'm a 90-year old trying to drink tea. :D

Got placed in silver as a zerg player.
Did some research and worked out how the mmr system works along with the promotion system. Stopped laddering at 12/12 and began to play 1v1 xel naga custom matches via the 'find match'.
Did xel naga customs against bronze-diamonds untill I was at plat level, then started laddering again. Got my mmr to plat average within 10 games, consequently was promoted to plat once the new season began.

i went 4:1 in my placement matches to get to platinum got to diamond on 13 stayed there ever since cause i dont play much

I havn't been promoted but I've been siting in platnum league since the game came out. I have been playing just a lil more, but just recently I won 10 games in a row!!!! I'm really psyched about it but I have this feeling I might just be beating on recently promoted people lol. If I am sorry!!!

logged on played a bit got diamond logged off

I had been playing 3v3 with a few of my all 1v1 diamond friends for a few months, and we had been stuck in Platinum forever based on our rule of absolutely no cheesing. Finally we sit down one night, play these moron marine rushers that just get stomped because of how good we've gotten at defending early nonsense, and when we absolutely demolished them in what can only be described as a "one sided game" it promoted us to diamond 3v3.
We were pissed, what a lackluster game to get promoted off of.

Got placed bronze, this was back when there was copper in the beta, in first couple weeks went up through to gold, got plat/diamond by the end of the beta. There were alot of placement resets in the beta. retail was in diamond immediately. Master when that was available, am currently top8 master, GM still eludes me .

I got promoted to Platinum by stopping a cannon rush I luckly scouted quickly enough with a forge of my own, and then cannon rushing him back. Oh the giggles
