I remember when I was promoted to Diamond (back when there was no Masters league).
I joined a ladder game and my opponent immediately left. I went back to the game lobby and got promoted to Diamond.

It would've most likely happened pretty soon anyway, but I found it kind of funny to get promoted like that.

I introduced the original starcraft to my school and popularized it. But when starcraft 2 came out, i got it half a year later. I lagged out EVERY SINGLE PLACEMENT GAME so obviously got placed in bronze. I was the butt of all jokes as I was sopose to be one of the better players:'(
I can only play at school because the school internet was actually better then the internet at my house-_- I was dissapointed because at a laddering party(with my other bronze homies) while they were being placed with silver and even gold, I was stuck with solid bronze, and even unplaced. One day at school, I just won a tough game and i was happy that I threw my hands up in victory and turned around to face all my classmate. My best homie started to make a joke saying "congratz, you got promoted to silv..what the shit...?"because I actually did. I think I kissed a guy on the back of his neck with joy, not exactly sure cuz it is all a bit fuzzy then:p
In conclusion, I got promoted to silver without playing any silver, honestly. Promotion feels so good, even if it is just from bronze to silver.(My friend did a double league jump, im so jealous)

My brother bought me the game for christmas, he wanted to test if my account worked so he played my 1v1 placement matches he won them all and got into diamond. so when i got the game i had to purposely lose like 40 games because my opponents were to good. and then FINALLY i got demoted to silver. i played 15-20 games, and then my brother came home to me (btw my brother is really good at Sc2) and he helped me in my games, so i went on a 27 win streak :D then i was facing diamond players and winning, i eventualy got promoted to diamond. i played and played and played until i got to top 5 in my division, but i couldnt win pvz i got very angry. and then for no reason i started playing random, and i won almost all my games. and then ironically i randomed Zerg and my oppenent was Protoss, he was master. that was the first ZvP i have ever played in my life. i end up winning and was promoted to master where i am now :D

The other day I was playing 2v2 with my buddy and we got in Masters...I was happy, but I like 1v1 better than theme games because we essentially have to t1 push in 2v2 or lose.

When we were promoted he said:
Well now we HAVE to get masters in 3v3 and 4v4!

I know...*sigh*

Than you didnt play the rest of the season on ladder for fear you can't compete at that level.

or so the story seems to be with alot of low lvl masters... below say rank 70.

I got promoted to diamond just before the season reset...

In the last game b4 i got promoted, i was on a pretty large losing streak, 4 or 5 games, as i assume bnet was trying to figure out my ranking... i was high plat and playing vs diamonds of all calibers =P.

ANYWAYS, i got this game, where i say HF instead of glhf... since it was on a huge losing streak, i wanted all my luck for myself.

The guy im facing(protoss) construes this as BM and starts raging at me, saying that im an asshole/jerkass/douchebag for not wishing him good luck.

I do my regular (at the time) 2 rax expand while he 4 gates me, i scan at 5:30 and see the constructing gates and have time to build bunkers, but he comes anyways.

He just walks into 3 bunkers that i pull scvs to repair, and loses 20 supply for nothing, continues to BM more and then leaves the game... and i get that sweet sweet promotion message!

So I ofc have to tell him about it... which needless to say, he doesnt appreciate =P

Got the game the week of the release and went like 2-3 on placement, got into bronze. After a few games I was in silver, then before I knew it i was gold. I stayed at the top of gold for a while until finally reaching plat. After another long stay in plat I made it into diamond. At the end of season 1 I was diamond, and a few days after the start of the new season, I made masters :D

After being only at 2300 points in diamond, but being able to pwn some masters in customs, after the reset I decided to ladder. And I won a lot of games became the #1 ranked diamond in the world with something like 800+ points less then a week into the reset, and when I got promoted I had 100 points.. currently working on y new account which is 620 points in a weekend and #1 in my division.

Back when SC2 came out, was high diamond (when diamond was the best league). Started playing again season 2, got placed into plat, lost like 3 games, placed into gold. Played like 50 games and got promoted into plat. Now am like 1st place plat with probably a 75% win ratio but will never know due to no losses being shown.

Takes SO long to get promoted when I obviously should be in a better league, but w/e. Winning is fun =D

switched from Terran to Zerg, got placed silver last week. fought through all the 6-10 polls, worker rushes, cannon rushes and all other cheese. now to work up to gold. thats not the point of the game, i know, but it does give one something to shoot for.

It was a PvP.
I noticed he had 2 gases and he kept chrono boosting his probes, so it was obvious he wasn't going for any sort of 4 gate or what not.

So I fast expanded, and he did too but a bit later. around half way through the game, I saw him go pretty early colossus and alot of stalkers. I didnt have a robo, so I decided to go for chargelots.

He went to attack me, but i surrounded him with my zealots, and his colossi didn't do much at all, all I had was zealots with charge and a handful of sentries.

Afterward, I quickly rushed to his base and he didn't have much by then, since I killed his colossi.
And whats the best sign of promotion? BM of course! started calling me a noob, p imba and what not..

Got the promotion message, and after being stuck on that league for awhile, I just had the urge to say thanks to him ;P
But later I blocked him, because he kept calling me names in some foreign language every time I got online :D

Right now I got promoted to master league after an interesting ZvZ.

You see, there are these days where my micro decides to take a nap. That can be quite risky during ling/baneling wars in the early game, actually so risky that at the 9 minute mark I was braving my way ahead with my 1 10hp drone that was mining gass.
The rest of my drones found it a good idea to cuddle up next to banelings.

I decided that I wouldnt give up, and kept on going until at the 15minute mark he decided to go with a roach/bane allin. And remarkebly I held it. And after that I kept macroing and won in the late game, simply because he figured a taking a 3d base is so mainstream.

Was a nice cherry on the top to see a master League Promotion after the game.

Find that hard to believe. I was 14-0 on EU on my new name, still diamond. Good story though.

I was gold at release, as I never followed sc2 beta at all. I hopped on, starting with 2s, and then solo. 4-5 games was plat, then from there it was like 15 to diamond, then I actually got serious about build orders etc.

I used to ebay at 17 for fear of mutas and DTs lol... Then I finished season one a 3.5k masters with under 600 solo games.

Was placed in silver at the beginning of season one, only played 5 games. I decided near the end of the season that I wanted to be promoted, and I got to diamond within a month.

Diamond first day it came out after 14 wins.. haven't laddered since September. Probably will ladder over summer to get to Master.

First season, placed into Gold, switched race and dropped to bronze.

Then began a massive slog of winning 14 in a row at Bronze level and rising through each league up to Plat until the season finished.

Season 2 I get placed into Diamond still there but been inactive for 3 weeks cos of a life

Platinum out of placement games. I played around 50 or so games of just pure 3 raxing in the first season until I finally got promoted to Diamond which felt damn good. After that, took a break from 1v1s until word of "Master League" came out. I hardcore laddered for a very long time, going from about 50 to 200 games and finally a few days before the ladder froze, I got promoted and began cheering like crazy and telling all of my friends. Felt amazing and since then I've been playing in Masters.

I myself have been playing sine the beta and started out in the bronze league. Throughout that whole time I got up to only as high as silver. When the game was realeased to the public I got placed in gold for my 1v1. I was proud of this seeing as it was the highest I ever got. Towards the middle of season 1 I got promoted to platinum and then stoped playing the 1v1 ladder for the most part. Since season 2 I played pretty much only 1v1. I got placed in platinum but shortly after I got promoted to diamond. So I have been working my way up due to knowledge and some hard work. Hopefully i'll be getting up to masters eventually.
