Then promoted to master when it was released

Now usually sitting on rank 4-5 <_< hopefully rank 3 this season

came back last season.
I got placed in platinum, game evolved so much, 2 bunker rush outdated, thor rush not viable much in TvT anymore so forth.
had to learn new builds, new strats.
2 weeks later, Got promoted to diamond
been around 2 weeks or so now...
I'm beating Low-Mid masters constantly albeit streaky although I am prone to losses to diamonds.

I'm ranked 1 in my division right now..by 80 points.
but not getting a promotion..I wonder if I'll get masters

I was in gold when I bought the game, tbh i dont even knew how to win and I was on gold. season ends and im still on gold, when i play my placement match i got placed on bronze. I play on bronze like 2 seasons more, finally, in season 6 i start playing silver only, and i was like, i should stop playing now and wait until the placement of the next season so i get a silver and i get promoted on silver. I was like rank 16 on my division, finally i was so freaking nervous on my s7 placement match, i played and the other guy was doing good micro/macro w/e and I was like, yea this guy cant be bronze unless he's a smurf then I lost a good match, then I saw i got to the silver league i was so freaking excited that moment, i saw the guy league and he was diamond 2 seasons ago (he was playing all 5 placement matches since he didnt play 2 seasons)
I was lucky that the new mmr system matched me with him

now im not in bronze hell anymore :D

Got into gold season 1, then dropped to silver, then back to gold, then plat for season 2-4. Spent seasons 5 & 6 on work and studies, didn't play any 1v1 and just trolled around in team games. Turned on sc2 1v1 again for season 7, played my placement and got promoted to diamond. Was confused.

Started S3, got placed in plat then moved down to gold. Started browsing team liquid to learn how to play then moved up to Diamond.

Stopped playing at the start of S4 and then came back at S6. Was getting shit on and had to learn the new meta game for all my matchups. Worked my way up to 800 pt rank 2.

S7 placed in Masters.

When the game came out all I knew how to do was 2rax as terran. Marine marauder allins, and I got placed into silver. Stopped playing then tried again and everything changed which meant I dropped to bronze. A few seasons as bronze I switched over to Zerg then for out of bronze by actually knowing how to play versus just cheesing. Im still silver right now going up against gold level players. Hopefully if I'll be able to edit this post and say I got into gold in a week or so.

started playing the game in janurary, got placed into bronze. spent all of season 5there. ladder locked and i was on a huge streak. season 6 placement put me into silver and i remember thinking to myself...wow finally. not very good feeling of being promoted... 2 weeks later and another huge winninflg streak later i was bugging my brother and said i bet i can make gold tonight! he says meh i doubt it... next game i won i get a promo screen saying welcome to gold!!! i was so happy and kept playing makling rank 1 in my division playing plats all day. ladder locked and i was struggling hard vs plats and golds... played my season 7 placement match, and ZOMG PLATZ!!!!

now im doing fairly well v my plats but strugglin vs those diamonds. hope to be there soon, finally got onto a team and practising with masters and diamonds. hopefully :D

I got sc2. I played all 5 of my placement matches and won them, placed into gold. About 15 games later I skipped platinum and was placed into diamond. Been playing 1's occasionally in master league since season 2. fin~

Finally got masters the guy early BM gg'd and I ended up winning. He held the opening pressure then the following pressure was too much for him :D

My promotion stories have been jokes. In Bronze I was smashing everyone once I began to understand how to play the game, but then I finally get promoted by beating some guy in placement. He had barely anything, but he was my last bronze game.
In 2v2 I began this Season as Silver. 5 matches later I get bored and pull off a 6 pool. We win and I'm promoted to Gold. The 1v1 promotion felt good, but because I worked for it. The actual promotion game didn't feel that great

i always get promoted by beating a placement match person. i feel bad, cause i just took advantage on his misery of playing this new game.

I went from Plat to Diamond the day I learnt I had to end the game with more than 50 drones.

Same with Diamond to Masters, but with about 70. :D

I just got promoted to Masters league while Streaming

I have been very close to masters for over 3 seasons..but I just couldn't get past the wall...but lately i've started doing better in tournaments...and just being a better player in general.
This was an epic 35 min 6 vs 5 base battle zvt. Skip first game n goto 20 mins in

I started from way down. First I was low, low bronze. Finished season 2 with rank 15 bronze. My friends, who invited me to join the game, were mostly bronze, although some of them were high gold. Anyway, I never gave up. Season 3 started and I when i did my placement match, no promotion. I felt bad, kind of sad because almost all my friends got promotions. Nevertheless, a couple of weeks into season 3 and I got promoted to silver, yay silver. Anyhow, silver felt different, and I developed this 7 minute roach+1 push that I create. I did this vs EVERY race. Well, seaosn 3 came to an end. I did my season 4 placement AND even though I won like 80% of the time in silver, I was STILL STUCK IN SILVER. It didn't bother me much because my friends were silver too, aand a couple were promoted to platinum. Anyway, one week after season 4 began, out of nowhere BOOM promotion to gold. I was so fucking happy. However gold was a whole new level, I couldn't do the 7 min roach push because it was stopped too easily. Anyway, i was winning about 45-51% of the time(not good at all). I managed to end in top 8 gold by the end, but was kind of devastated. I was expecting gold to be easier. Then season 5 hit, I was not sure if i wanted to continue laddering so I actually did my placement a couple of weeks late. STILL GOLD. I wasn't that surprised anyway. I didn't ladder much this season, however I did discovered streams, oh streams. season 6 hit in and I watched fucking lots of streams. I was promoted to platinum in no time. By the end of season 6 I ended top platinum, with a toal of 709 points, ranked #5 in my division. I expected to get diamond by season 7, however I was not facing any diamond opponents yet. Anyway season 7 hit and I was winning a lot. I discovered what I like to call the "lose-streak curse". I had a 8 lose streak for the first time in my life, and didn't know how to handle it. I started playing and playing and playing. Lost, lost and lost again. There was a point where i was no longer macroing but rather cheesing every game, and failed miserably. I felt really bad because I was rank #1 in platinum with 624 points and fell to rank 8 platinum with 468 points. Imagine the accumulation of loses. There was a point where I faced only Gold opponents. I managed to get over this "curse" and won a lot. Managed to get rank #1 again and mantain it up to the last days of the season. Unfortunately some other people took rank #1 and #2, and I ended rank 3 on the season, however by the end of the season I was facing diamonds and winning. Then I surely expected a promotion. My friends long ago were left in silver, some in high plat, and exactly 2 in diamond. Did my plkacement for season 8. It was versus a terran. I remember well it was on cloud kingdom. I sent my overlord to the rocks near my opponents base. My scout was denied with a very fast supply depot (seriously for terran players, it's stupid to get that early of a second supply depot), i didn't know his plans, and I didn't want to die to some stupid shit like 2 rax. Anyway with the overlord in the rocks i spotted a second rax. I was my salvation. I survived the 2 rax and just played the game out. He managed to stay in it, which surprised me but not that much. I few days later I learnt that terran can come back from a VERY big economic loss like no shit had happened, ridiculous. I managed to crush him by min 18 maxed with around 12 ultras, 7 festors, and the rest on ling bling (kinda half half). He was on 4 base (really greedy) i was on 4 too takigng my 5th. I just crushed his shit everywhere killed his production and GG. Now, the best part. I wanted diamond so fucking bad because I do want to go to MLG some day, and there it was, my promotion to diamond. YES! season 8 diamond. Currently I am using SC2 gears to save my replays and I have a 11/20 w/l and facing high diamonds. It is amazing how much I have improved. I just wish to get promoted to masters soon, and THEN! GM! yes. I just hope my dreams come true sometime before december. I set my goal on march that by june I would be diamond, and guess what? accomplished right on time. Anyway I wish to be at least mid masters by decemeber. I know I still have a long road but I am confident since my ZvP is very good. Now I have mid masters friends I practice with and I win vs mid masters toss around 40% of the time, which isn't bad since I am currently mid diamond.

It has been a great ride.

I finally made it Into masters using pure Bio + medivac compositions!

I have never felt comfortable enough to start experimenting with different strategies. On the one hand my decision to stay on pure bio is probably factor to why reaching the masters took so long. But I feel it helped me on focusing better on my mechanics and other game core areas. Still pure bio for sure isn't the optimal way to play this game.

My league development:
3. aug 2011 First SC2 game

Bronze: about 2 weeks
Silver: about 2 weeks
Gold: about 2 weeks
Platinum: about 6 weeks
Diamond: about 40 weeks

Now that I've reached my long time goal of getting into masters I think I'll feel more comfortable with trying builds and unit compositions. Also I feel my mechanics have reached the level in which every abnormal or unexpected situation doesn't ruin my macro or teching or something else that is important.

Also a thing i have noticed. In mid-high diamond I encountered cheeses extremely rarely but in platinum and low diamond it felt like half of the games were some cheeses. Learning to defend cheeses properly is one of the key points to advancing from the platinum level.

i dont get why people rage when they lose to cheese. the reason you play macro games is because most of them counter cheese. builds are only popular if they have a way to stop 90% of all ins and cheeses.

dont blame me because you can't defend a cheese.

Started out in platinum sometime last fall. Didn't really know what warp gates did or anything about the metagame or build orders or anything, but got to diamond around two and a half weeks later pretty much just with mechanics. At the same time, I got into masters in 3v3. The next season I only played 4v4 and got to masters in a little over a week, and the next season only played 2v2 and got into masters in under a week.

I didn't play again until this season (other than UMS), when I decided I wanted to get into masters 1v1 playing only random. It was challenging since I still knew very little about the metagame, build orders, timings, etc, and since I played random I had to learn all this stuff for 9 matchups. In the end, I think it took me around a month.
