h1t-m3 Canada11 Posts April 03 2012 15:35 GMT #889 I started playing on my brother's account as protoss.It was just after release, so everybody would just go zealot rush of 2 gates My macro was terrible, so everygame was really weird and lame with 3k minerals in the bank. After placement matches, I got into Gold. Then I got my own acc, and to my own shame I was able to only get into silver. All of this happened in Euro Account. Then I moved to Canada, and if I am not mistaken I got into platinum first and then eventually to diamond where I am now. I was kind of close to promoting into masters on season, but then I stopped playing and now I am a terribad mid diamond.

YARRtosis 4 Posts April 03 2012 16:32 GMT #890 I started playing on I think season 2, with absolutely no RTS background, except well, Stronghold and Stronghold: Crusader. Got placed Into Silver and got demoted to Bronze the same day, didn't play all that much until the middle of the next season, got Into Silver eventually, finished as that. Season 4 came around and I was still playing Protoss (Which I didn't mention before) and got into Gold and eventually Platinum. Season 5 is the season that I improved the most, First of all, I played 100 games as toss and stayed in the top 50 plat, Which I did not like one bit, and because Protoss just wasn't feeling like my kind of race, I switched to Terran. From this point on i advanced to Diamond and eventually to Masters, within 2 and a half weeks in the same season, when I started I played around 5-10 games a day, Which later on became around 15-30 games on a regular basis. Right now, as season 6 is coming to an end, I'm sitting in high masters (and don't worry, I'm playing on the EU ladder) and am looking forward to possibly getting to Grandmasters (:o) the next season! Although, I'm currently gone for vacation to Spain, once I get back I'm planning on playing at least 40 games a day.Throughout all this, I've been watching a lot of good players stream (EmpireKas in particular), watched a lot of tourneys,Day[9]'s daily <3 and tried my best improving.All in all I think I'm doing pretty well, for a person that hasn't played any RTS games in the past. Right now, I have over 300 wins as Protoss and a little bit over 160 wins as terran .

crocodile United States615 Posts April 03 2012 16:35 GMT #891 Worked my way up from Bronze to Master league as Zerg, then switched to T and fell to Diamond but got back to Master quickly. It's funny, because when I first learned to play I had a gold league friend who was like you need to learn build orders, and I refused because I thought it would take the fun out of the game. I was wrong ^_^

hellokittySC2 United States395 Posts April 03 2012 16:43 GMT #893 i started last year when grandmasters first came out, began as gold after my placements, soon found myself in plat within an hour, then diamond in 7 hours, and masters in 3 days due to 4gate OP at that time ^.^ p.s. I didn't know what the hell or how the hell to use forcefields and fight against roaches and mauraders!

As like most of you i got into bronze because the only match i won was when i got six pooled in a zvz against a silver player and somehow held it off...(no idea what a-move was). after learning the game and 1 month of games the ladder locked while i was still rank one bronze. i had been playing high silvers all through the ladder lock and just before it locked, my brother got his silver promotion. i said to him, i pretty much consider myself silver league sense thats all i play anymore. Season 6 begins he plays his placement match and keeps his silver standing. I played mine and got silver :D. I continued laddering for a few days learning the new things and started playing golds! i said to my brother im going to get gold before the end of the week. (3 days later it was day 5 of the season) i had the house to myself and was just grinding out as many games as i could. After my brother came home i had won 40 out of 48 matches, all against gold players. My brother comes home and says hahaha you will be forever silver! I was enraged by that and played another game and i was feeling really good about how well i had been playing. After a zvt, The guy tried to 2 rax marines into mm and i held, baneling busted and won! after the game i messaged him (he was plat) and i couldnt stop thanking him for the promotion. been gold sense but at no 2 in my division and 400 in NA Gold, playing high plats high golds im going for plat next season hopefully diamond

Janders Mexico222 Posts April 03 2012 23:14 GMT #896 0% RTS experience before i bought sc2 but i watched a ton of stuff of the beta >S1 Silver - Placed in silver where i won like 22/30 games with proxy 2 stargate void ray vs all races >S2 Gold - Platinum 40 minutes"macro games" where no one did anything until 200 200 at at like the 30-35 minute mark >S3 Platinum - My cheese season where all i did was 4 gate 2 gate proxy zealots, 6-7 gates etc., off racing terran and going 3 rax, marine scv all in etc., off racing zerg and going 6 pool. >S4 Diamond - Owning every diamond player and wondering why wasent i getting promoted and complaining about balance and shit talking people who outplayed me and this season ended up being very sad for me now that i look back because i was an asshole and had a very negative attitude towards the game + i was awful >S5 Diamond - Played pretty well everything went normal little frustrated because i wasent masters >S6 Masters - As soon as the season started i just kept me rank 1 place for like a two weeks, beating high diamond and 35-70 masters and got promoted to something like 40 i have easily beaten top masters but i will wait for season 7 to aim for top masters.

When I stopped playing I was so mad at myself for loosing stupidly to everything I basically knew how to handle. So I stopped for a few days. Than I come back, first game TvT (I play Random).... what a pain in the A** I hate this MU. Players name: MouzSomething. Obviously a fanboy but since I didn't know the name he was using (after Mouz) I though it could also be someone from their staff, just playing for fun (their might be people in the Mousesports managing team playing SC2 without being Masters or >) The guy opens with banshee and I go for a 1 Rax expand, he deals a decent amount of damage, enough to make me feel like I'm behind even though I'm on 2 bases and he's on 1. Game goes on, my macro is so bad, I use a scan to check at his natural and OMG he already has it better saturated than mine ... I'm gonna get raped I know it. And there the unexpected pops on my screen: Waiting for Player: MouzSomething Well let's be honest, my first reaction was "FUCK YEAH!!!! DROP THAT MOTHERFUCKER !!!!!" (plz notice that I had no other reason to be agressive than him having a better start than me in this game). Next few seconds were an internal debate between the little devil on my left shoulder and the angel on the right one. Angel ended up winning (true story) and when after 45 secs I finally see the game being over, I felt "Well you suck but you're a lucky bastard! You're gonna have to win the next 3 games to redeem yourself". Than I get back to the score screen and a message pops on my screen "Congratulations .... you're amazing performance .... considering your talent and your awesome understanding of the game .... we would like you in Grand Masters League right away but we can't sry dude .... but you're still promoted to Diamond". FUCK YEAH I'M IN DIAMOND NOW !!!!! Well from this day, I always called my race at the beginning of a game on the ladder, and I will keep on doing so. And believe it or not but it's been a huge improvement to every game I played.

Finished top8 bronze, S3, got placed in silver, same for S4 and 5. Completely unremarkable seasons, aside from switching to Zerg, didn't play much, did OK. Played a lot more games this season, started facing and beating golds left right and centre, promotion never seemed to come (sadface). Then I had this day: Terran Played: 4 Won: 0 Lost: 4 Win rate: 0.0% Zerg P: 8 W: 7 L: 1 WR: 87.5% Protoss P: 2 W: 0 L: 2 WR: 0.0% Zvz keeping me afloat right? Thinking I'd have to play a ton more to get promoted, I played again a few days later. First game, get roach rushed, easily hold it, and push for the win. Instant promotion to gold :D. I was so gleeful, I can only imagine what I'll be like if I get to master's or something

angrammarpro 3 Posts April 15 2012 22:40 GMT #900 s2: Silver then promoted to gold (had no build order, someone told me to 3rax every game, got promoted to gold lol) s3: gold (still 3raxed 80% of my games) s4: plat (actually started to work on macro game) s5: plat (starting to get solid mechanics) s6: plat (using variety of builds and use Darglein's micro trainer often) s7(now): DIAMOND! (lol hopefully i don't lose every game) not bad considering i only ladder about 30 games a season at most (i don't think i've ever finished a season with no bonus pool)
