Season 2, lost my placement, got promoted from plat to diamond. Skipped seasons 3 and 4. Season 6, I lost my placement and got promoted from gold (562 points in season 5, pretty much 50% win percentage), to plat. Lessons learned: 1) That points chart blizzard publishes that says promotion is highly likely, is pretty useless. It said 800 points for gold > plat. Perhaps, that's where your MMR should be? Bottomline is that if you're top 4 or so, I'd wager you're going to get promoted next season. Furthermore, whether you win or lose 1 game in a placement match isn't going to affect your MMR much and isn't going to mean jack as far as whether you get promoted or not. 2) New seasons seem to promote purely on MMR. All that MMR stability crap that's used during the season seems to play not part in a placement match promotion. 3) High gold opponents are stronger than mid-plat. Its fine and good to say that a #1 plat is better than a #1 gold, but league isn't everything and rank definitely matters. 4) Season 5 and 6 players are much more skilled than season 2. ![]()

I think that I just have no clue how to play Terran. ;~; I read all the guides and try to do all things, but I can't find the time to do everything I need to do, and I feel so week late game against Z and P, and TvT is just a weird matchup for me. D:

Played 150ishgames in S2 as silver with mixed results while learning to actually play, but didn't manage to achieve any promotion. Weird thing is, I would crush ZvP+ZvT but almost always lose ZvZ.. I haven't really played any games since then. 2/5 placement matches done so far for S6, and I've won both, but I'm terrified of playing any further games, since I'm so awful :S Haha, I played my final three placement matches. Went 4-1 overall and ended up in Platinum. Time to lose. I'd say my skill is Silver'ish..

(european) so when i got sc2 Beta, i started in silver and climbed my way up to platinum (highest league back then) within 2 months. When the game came out, i played at the release pre-day where pretty much only real nerds played that couldnt w8, so i started in gold. but 1 week later, i was already in diamond, the highest league again. from that point on, i was pretty much always in the highest league: master got introduced, i got into master grandmaster got introduced in season 2, i barely got into it. in season 3, i again got into gm, although i dont think i deserved it in that season, since my MMR felt quite low. and then suddenly, i didnt get gm in season 4. i finally realized that i have to change my style and play a lot less allinish. it wasnt enough to get gm in season 5, although this time, i felt i should probably gotten into gm, so i was in the top 100 of the european master-leagues, just like in season 4. And now, im finally back in gm, and im very proud of it ![]()

At the end of season 5 I thought i was close to getting promoted again, but alas, the ladder lock came and I had not made it yet. I played through the ladder lock and ended with 583 points. The next morning I got on just to play my placement match. I chat with my opponent and find out he was gold (*sigh* cuz I think I won't get promoted). We both say we were close to getting promoted but didn't get it. I proceed to roll him and we both get promoted!! I was so excited to finally make it ![]() Now onto diamond...

I'm so happy i would like to thank oldfool and finkle, my practise partners. i would like to thank Day[9] for all the brilliant information he presents so well. i would also like to thank my dad for supporting me.

Queu season six, I LOSE my placement match, and get put into masters league. Most anti climactic promotion ever. Started out as copper in beta, then got promoted to diamond in S1, been high diamond ever since (with a few trips into master league). This happened to me too, I was actually so dissapointed and angry when I lost that I just F10+N'ed and went away from the computer for 10-15 minutes, when I came back the nice and shiny Master League icon was there on my screen, I was like "what......" Got demoted about a month later after being inactive basically the whole time due to work. This was S4. S5 I grinded 20-30 games a day for a few days before getting promoted again, but then I got this great idea about testing out some new builds I saw from MLG the night before... Played a few games vs AI and went straight into ladder. Won the first two games, thought "hey this is going pretty good!" And then proceeded to lose 6-7 games in a row. When I go on such losing-streaks I dont know when to stop, I just have to "make up for it by getting that 1 win". Eventually I came to my senses and took a break, came back the next day, and lost to a DT rush because i forgot detection. Diamond once again T_T I find it really hard to get good and stay good, since I'm working offshore for 1 month at a time and can't play during that period, I have to "re-learn" a whole bunch when I come back.

Its been a ride, i had lots of fun, and for a period of time i was able to tell people that i was in master league, the few, the proud. Dont get me wrong, Masters isnt just your anyday-causal leauge where you cheese and rush for-the-win the only way to maintain skills by playing often, anaylsis stragies, watch streams/replays and never stop learning, i was able to follow most of these, however there was one thing i didnt consider, one thing that i thought was the last to take me down, my mental strength. Yeah, you heard me, its not timing attacks, micro or macro, its my emotions which i am trouble controling. I still remember that day, when it all started, at first i started to lose to grandmasters and high masters i thought it was rather normal, experienced people playing a newcomer and winning nothing wrong with that. It was then that i made the biggest mistake of my starcraft career (hobby more like?) I didnt stop playing, i recklessly played on and on, not caring about my body, or care to watch the replays to learn from why i lost i kept playing and playing. It was from there, lose after lose it started with grandmasters to mid masters then low, then i started to lose to diamonds, i was so scared, that was the hour of panic i did not know what to do. I started to look for turtials, for bronze-golds i keep looking, anything to satisfy my hunger for assitance to win, my actions masks the fear i am slowly gathering from losing, i was only a mere shadow to my former self when i first made it into master league. It wasnt long and at some point, i excepted to to come, the moment of dread, the end to the suffering, the nail to the coffin to finish the job. I was demoted After that i didnt tell people, my friends still think i am in masters, most of them dont play starcraft but all of them knows me as the 'starcraft guy', i was told that one of my former war3 friends brag to people about me being in masters haha. Other then grades and sport, when people would descirbe me its mostly starcraft, this has became my personal image and i will not allow it to be damaged. A lot of people look at this as just a game that will eventually get boring and outdated, my parents never understood my passion for starcraft(rts in geneal) but i look at starcraft as a hobby, something i enjoy doing, and not just some game i play to kill time. If you get up to here i would like to thank you for bothering to read it all the way here, for now i will do all i can to get back to master league, and maybe one day, i can once again, rise my head proudly, look confident and tell people- that i am in master league

I try some drops but they are thwarted because I don't get rid of his observer, I try multi-pronged attacks that do a little economic damage aswell as delaying his Colossus tech. Then it comes to a ball v ball fight, I get some emp's on his templar but not enough, he manages to get 3 very good storms on my ball of MM and I get rolled by archons zealot as my 3/3 up's finish and he's on 3/2/3. I call GG well played and get out of the game. You have been promoted to Platinum League. HAPPY FACE.

ZvZ on Metal, cross spawn the guy fully blocked with queens after my 16 hatch 15 gas 14 pool (risky i know) and didnt look to have any intention of expanding, scouted the mass roach and defended up, it was a close hold and he tried to expand, I took my 3rd while we both went roach hydra but by the 2nd push i had infestors just popping and decimated him. my new goal is to not get demoted for at least 2 months.
