The gold protoss I faced after tried to do a 2 stargate void ray all in but I scouted no sentries so roach rushed in and wrecked his base and all his probes. Yeah! Gold

Nerokas Finland56 Posts September 12 2011 13:29 GMT #422 i didnt have beta key but iw atched every single husky/HDstarcraft/PsY cast and was raelly into it 1st day of release i bought the game, got gold cus i already knew stuff about the game few weeks later easy into platinum Spent a year as rank 1 platinum playing against pretty much pure dia :< Now im diamond rank 1 playing other diamonds, about 50-50 win/loss Hopefully ill make it to masters soon ...

Bamm Sweden279 Posts September 12 2011 13:32 GMT #423 LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Started in bronze league season 1, played alot of team games with my friends but then I wanted to be alot better than them. watched alot of Day9 (ALOOOOOOOOOT) Kept growing on ladder, got into silver, gold, platina, diamond and then MASTERS<3 so now im pretty high masters thanks to day9 .D

Comprissent United States314 Posts September 12 2011 13:33 GMT #424 Placed bronze, feltbadman. 4gated to silver 4gated to gold 4gated to platinum 4gated to diamond finally learned how to build more than 24 probes, and then this happened! (actually it happened my promotion game was a PvP on steppes of war... I tried the old 'pvp build that made huk hate ladder on korea', and it actually worked) About two weeks later i got demoted, and haven't laddered seriously since Now since summer is done and CSL is starting up, i'm finally going to push back into masters!

ineq Sweden376 Posts September 12 2011 13:34 GMT #425 I played like maybe 100 games before i got to silver (sc2 beeing my first RTS), then i got a fulltime job and i think i've played like 3-4 games since the end of may.. Don't really remember the game, i just remember that i played like 4-5 Gold league players in a row before my promotion, and i remember those games beeing really fun cause i could feel my game improving and my knowledge getting deeper after every game. But my desire to play got crushed when i got a job, as i don't like to do anything halfhearted, i'd rather just not do it at all.

I said to myself "Finally i'm not terrible anymore, i can cruise around and be in platinum league forever" (This was by the time diamond was the highest league) Platinum-Diamond: Oh my god, i'm becoming so pro at this. This is the same league the pros are at(At the time, i didn't realize how huge of a difference it was between the low and high diamond) With the introduction of Master League i was shocked i wasn't in it. Then came a huge realization that i had to practice alot harder. Then when i finally arrived to Master League i was like "FUCK YEAAAAAAH!"

Funny how things work out eh?). Played iCcup a few seasons, but never played more than like 20-30 games so I don't actually know my real rank. I touched D+ once, but school took over and I couldn't see how far I could get. When SC2 came out I threw my placement games, got put in bronze (on purpose ), macroed my way to Diamond in like a week and then quit SC2. At the end of Season 2 I found out there was a masters league and wanted to be in it so I started SC2 again. Was demoted after my placement -_- (ppl got good lol)... Started Season 3 as Plat. Got promoted back into Diamond yesterday!! Want to get Masters before Season 3 is over.

FireFish Denmark228 Posts September 12 2011 14:37 GMT #429 Bronze-Silver: I played like 100 games.(First ever RTS) Then i tried to expand, and having 8 gateways producing units all the time was just epic! So i started expanding to 3-4 basing very early in the game, and started winning all the games i played in bronze. Was ranked 1 and got the promotion! Silver-Gold: In Silver people started to do wierd all-ins which my expo style just died to, so i needed to get a new build. I saw Husky making a guide for 4-gate, and thought this was my build ^^ I pretty much 4 gated my way to Gold. Gold-Plat: Was almost the same as Silver-Gold. I 4-gated and got to Platinum in a couple of weeks. Plat-Gold: In Platinum people knew how to defend 4-gate so i was demoted back to Gold. I was crushed The same evening i played in a tournament, where i met a really good player. He was Diamond back then. I lost horribly but after the tournament we spoke together, and we played alot. He was my first "friend" in Starcraft. He gave me a lot of tips, and i was able to fight my way to Platinum again! Platinum-Diamond: With the coaching, from my friend it was no problem to make the jump from Platinum-Diamond. It only took like 2 weeks, but when i saw that promotion thing pop up.. I jumped up from the chair and started dancing xD (This was back when Diamond was the highest league) Diamond-Masters: Now this was a hard one. I played hundreds and hundreds of games. No promotion. I got rank 1 Diamond. No promotion. Played tons of Masters but still no promotion. I think i played 2000 games in Diamond (with custom games). I was rank 4 Diamond in the whole freaking world, before my promotion! I remember the game like it was yesterday. I log on like normaly and search for a game. I played vs a Zerg. I give him the normal "gl hf". 2 seconds after he left. Promotion. I was completely speechless :D Now im high masters hoping to get into GM in s4! Sorry for long post/wall of text

Then I got kicked out for messing around lol then earlier this season redid it and here I am to stay until Grandmasters.

Roynalf Finland886 Posts September 12 2011 14:52 GMT #431 I started season 3 as silver just like 2 other seasons, I didnt play much on season 1 and 2 cuz of laddering fear, on season 3 I forced myself to pull throught the fear and I ended up to dominate silver and gold league. Now I am currently platinium player waiting to get promotion to diamond

I had a shitty computer so i didnt bother with sc2 and i felt it just wouldnt live up to bw so i didnt think much about it. then this year i bought a new laptop with great specs and i thought about sc2. Watched a couple of games on youtube when i received my lappy. When i finally got the game about two months ago i was hooked, and i played all of my practice league matches just to get a feel for the game, its pretty easy to catch on compared to bw i must say. After my practice league matches which were all pretty easy, i did my placement and got in platinum which i was feeling okay about. Now im ranked 1st and playing mostly diamonds so i hope i get promoted soon ^^ diamond in 3 months will feel good!

I tried to play "macro" games but since my macro sucked and I didn't really know any decent build, I was losing frequently. Then I learned how to 4 gate and 4 gated my way up to gold. I stayed at gold for some months, trying to improve my macro and once my macro started getting better I got promoted to platinum before the summer. I haven't play that much since then but the few games I've played were all macro games(besides some people trying to cannon rush me or whatever because it usually ended with me 4 gating them).

Ended season 2 mid masters (based on points) but got demoted (expectedly) at the beginning of season 2. I dropped pretty low as I hadnt really laddered in 1s much since mid season 2. Now im back to playing almost exclusively masters and usually losing stupidly, I know im close to promotion but i am being patient...for now.

Having never played Starcraft 2 or an RTS for that matter, I was absolutely TERRIBLE. I think I just built anything I could and ran a bunch of infestors into my opponents base and couldnt figure out why they wouldnt attack anything. I remember the day I figured out that drones could attack too, LOL! Needless to say I started out low Bronze, deservedly so. I chose Zerg because they looked to coolest to me, but the first half of season 1 was about getting completely owned by Reapers all day. Eventually I said "eff it" and joined the dark-side (Terran). By the end of season 1, I barely managed to crack Gold with Terran using the MMM build day in day out. Season 2 it was a climb, but I managed to hit Platinum for the first time as Terran, using the same MMM build. Eventually I got bored and stopped playing SC2 for about 30 weeks. Came back as Zerg and got demoted from Platinum back to Gold because doing that MMM build all day didnt really improve my SC2 mechanics or game sense. After struggling a bit at the start of season 3, I hit my stride as zerg and now am on the verge of promotion to Diamond for the first time. TL:DR> Started bronze, no RTS exp, MMM my way to Plat, switched to zerg, demoted to gold, Rank 1 Plat now on verge of Diamond.

Played 2 plat's prior and got raped by 1 in macro and then other guy out micro'd me in 4gatevs4gate. yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!

I massed void rays and killed all his probes, so he left I eventually moved to silver. First game I was cannon rushed, but held Then I was gold. I remember my last gold league game I demolished a Terran with hts and zealots. Plat I don't remember much, only that I got promoted to diamond. Just this season I got masters in my placement (after seeing I was top .5% of NA diamonds during the lock I knew I was getting promoted anyway haha) by beating a Zerg with a sick brood lord timing. I hit as his stuff was morphing and killed like 10 broods. I proceeded to roll him over. So yeah thats my story

natehhggh United States33 Posts September 12 2011 20:39 GMT #439 i started bronze season 1 season 2 placement me in silver season 3 placement put me in gold i entered a couple gold league tournaments on Z33K i won gold battlefield 1st place the next day for the next tournament i played one game on ladder won and got placed in platinum so i had to take myself out of the other tournament a couple hours before it began

Qualified to gold ( won 3 or 4 of 5 games), 20-30 games and qualified into plat. ~50-65 games in plat and ended up in diamond where I remained for the 2nd season, and for the 3rd as well... Bottomline : wc3 experience allowed me to get to diamond nearly instantly, but master league needs a lot more than the basic knowledge... builds must be refined, attention and motivation reinforced. idk if i can ever make it there, although there are sooo many noobs who i beat easily in master who have 2k+ games while i still have 600
