2v2: got to Diamond in 14 (13:1) games by playing double Protoss and building aggressive double proxy Gates. Masters happened like two months later after regular like 30 games per week and being almost continuously on the top spot of the division. In conclusion, the promotion system is weird, but there's at least some fun.

Placed into Silver at release, Got moved up a division roughly once a week until Diamond. Still had almost no understanding of the game. Master's when patch came out. Terribly unexciting.

was playing the practice league, but it came to a point where I was playing the same people all the time and the queues were 5-10min. So I skipped the practice league, took my placement matches, won 3/5 and was placed in Silver. I've had 1 promotion per month since I started, so only now in Platinum; but each promotion was very satisfying as it shows some kind of tangible improvement. Just love the game, love the community, love the competitiveness!

started actually playing and dominated with 90% win rate, didn't get promoted top of bronze, no promotion 1500 points, no promotion found out about bug played after bug now top silver, probably 1 game away not a very exciting story, i'm sure i'll feel accomplishment in promotion once i start playing seriously

Anyway. One of these friends is particularly godawful, and we constantly make fun of him for it, for instance, he sieges his tanks in his mineral line, and never makes anything ever. This 3v3 team had been wallowing around in Silver for a couple of games, then they lost one game, quite convincingly, and instantly got promoted to Diamond. Our theory is that the system grew sentient, and felt sorry for the team, due to playing with the Terran, and bumped them up the line a little. -- Then there's me. I barely played last season, just greatly enjoying customs, team games, and Day[9] dailies. (And the GSL, but who didn't?) This season, I've been playing private 1v1s with my friends a lot, and very much enjoying it, so I've hit the ladder. I was staying over at a friend's house, with my PC, tapped him on the shoulder, and said: "Wanna see something funny?" I'm very well known for not laddering. I often use it against the aforementioned Terran, in arguments structured as follows:
When the friend I was staying with obliged, I clicked the "Find Match" button, and an epic game commenced. After my 4/2 split, (haw haw haw), I used my default casual bm, and said "die", to the opponent. He replied with: "ok", then: "gg, i guess", and left. I went from Bronze 58 to Silver 9 in that one match.

One day I won a few matches with my buddy and we got promoted to silver and I almost shat myself in excitement, come to find out it went all the way up to platinum at the time. (copper - platinum) When season one came out I started as gold and got platinum fairly easily. Getting up to diamond was such a difficult struggle but now that I'm here... Masters is just so close.. Rank 7 diamond now Looking back on my progression my promotions have shown great improvement in my skill ;D

![]() First game as silver was close positions metal TvT and i was just outclassed, being dropped, cloak banshees to kill my tank lines at the xel naga tower, etc. After a few weeks to a month when i started to destroy silver i was promoted to gold. Felt good but i don't think it was as good as bronze --> silver. Now i was in Gold forever, at least a month or two. At the beginning I was playing just regular golds and losing more than winning, but that was to be expected. I then started to really ramp up my games, being more aggressive and less "i need to wait just for THESE marines before i push out." Needless to say i started owning golds, and at one point in the last week i had 300 more points than anyone in my division, playing and beating plats/top8plats/diamonds with some losses as well. FINALLY GOT PROMOTED TO PLATINUM LAST NIGHT. I fist pumped the air with triumph and played two games, i won the first and lost the 2nd to a pathetic TvT base trade i deserved to win. gold --> plat was by far the most relieving though. I definitely wasn't gold skill for the last 2 weeks i was in gold.

I supplement my wins by using tricks. Sometimes, when I am losing, I will trick my opponent into surrendering. This way, I add to my chances of winning. For every 10 losses that I may have, I can salvage about 2 or 3 of them by using tricky junk to fool people into surrendering. And that definitely helps me on the road to masters. It gives me a few more wins, which may well the be the edge I need to bump myself up to masters. I utilize these tricks because I was not born with high apm and if I intend to get to masters, I need to one base all in while getting a few extra wins using deceptive practices (ie tricks). cheers.

With that line you type in so people think you left the game? I find that sad no hard feelings :/ My road to promotions was kind of boring tbh. Lost last placement match because i had to go like 2 mins into the game and got placed in plat. After ten wins and a single loss got into diamond where i stayed for long. Got to 1700 points playing good masters players waiting to get promoted to masters and then my MMR jumperd or w/e and i started playing against 1200-1400 masters where i got massacred. After 2-13 run i was thinking the noob i am i will never get to masters. Day after won one pvt and it promoted me ![]()
