Getting into masters took me a neat record of 30-16 versus mixed diamond/masters. Promotion match ended up being a PvP where we both DT rushed and mine just got done about 20 seconds faster. I saw his DT shrine so I automatically threw up mass buildings to wall off my ramp and he gg'd out.

Didnt ladder until I was able to beat every race very hard AI - got to gold
One week 100 games to get to platinium, learned to scout and make counter units
Two weeks 100 more games to get diamond, learned to expand timing push
Masters when it came out, later dropped back to diamond trying win with "imba P deathball". Lost intrest to game.
Months later easily back to masters, seemed skill level of opponents had dropped. Now I dont want to lose masters status by playing

I'm really the guy working up all the way story here lol.
Went from Bronze rank 68 to rank number 1 in my division and stayed there for about a month and then was promoted to silver.
Went from silver rank 48 to rank number 1 in my division and stayed there for about 3 days and then was promoted to gold.
Went from gold rank 28 to rank number 7 right now. =D
Gettin' better and better!

Well, i started in bronze (as a huge nub), but progressed fairly fast. I started as toss, but began to love terran when i tried them out vs the ai. I switched, and became better. I could simply outplay and stress my opponent to death, with 2 banshees attacking from 2 sides.

I got promoted to silver fairly fast, and stopped playing for some time (i got really tired of it). When i came back, i switched to toss again (can't really remember why i did it), and lost quite alot. I tried terran again, and learned playing the game the hard way. I literally lost nearly every game vs toss, so i was very frustrated. Then one day, i decided to find out what my flaws were. Against toss, i didnt build enough rax after expanding, i didnt expand nearly enough, i wasen't aggressive enough and all that jazz. I fixed those problems, and smashed all my opponents. Then i got promotoed to gold :D

Now im in gold, 2nd rank, im getting ranked against plat level players (and winning). So, it seems that i have a bright laddering future ahead of me :D

I remember my very first game, I had not a clue how to play properly. Got placed in bronze. Somehow, worked my way into silver. My friend I met in University, who played BW, showed me how to play properly, and introduced me to Day9. After that, i got into gold.

Second season league lock rolled around, i worked my way into first place in my div. I played my placement match for season 2, I lost on the new map Typhon peaks, in a TvT. It was a close game, but i eventually lost. I got placed in plat, my opponent in diamond. To this day i still play high diamond players, and occasionally masters. Not bad for a plat player

. I am waiting for my next promotion story, should be real soon...

I was in Diamond on a heavy loss streak of like 6, then I won the next game because the guy didn't A-move his army, so all of my tanks destroyed him even though he was ahead of me.
He raged quit and then it said I got promoted to Masters.
I texted my friends and parents because I was sooo excited

My league promotion career is rather boring.

In beta I was immediately placed into the highest league (platinum).

When the league name-change occurred, I was immediately placed into the highest league (diamond).

When masters was introduced, I was immediately placed into the highest league (masters).

But Grandmaster is a totally different story. I'm not even close to getting top 200

I'll probably sit squarely in the mid/upper master league for the foreseeable future.

Started in bronze, worked up to silver, and now in gold/plat depending on bracket. Not really much to say other than I've been grinding it out, it hasn't come easy.

Worked up from bronze being stuck in silver for quite a while and managed to get to gold right at the end of season 1. Then a couple games into season 2 I was playing while talking to my friend on skype (who didn`t play starcraft), and I got promoted to plat! I got so excited and pointed my webcam at the monitor to show my friend lol. Needless to say she didn`t really care but it didn`t matter to me because I remember when I was first placed in bronze and looked at the higher leagues plat and dia and thought, I`d never get there...but there I was. Now I`m almost in diamond and I hope the promotion will be just as exciting.

Well I got placed into bronze and now have a record of 51-9 in bronze and all I want is a promotion

I understand it will eventually come and with the whole MMR system it can take a while. But playing really bad bronze players actually gets very tedious, and sort of feels like a grind. It just isn't much fun.

My silver to gold promotion game was epic. 4 gated a zerg, got it held off, while researching hallucinate. Popped a few hallucinated voids, let an overlord see them, then dropped two robos and a robo bay. 10 minutes later, 3 base(me) vs 5 base (him) I roll my mass gateway/collossi army into his mass hydra army. GG. You have been promoted.

I was derping along in platinum for a while, staying in top 3 when I started dropping tooooons of games vs players bnet said I should have beaten. After about 6 games into the tilt, I won this hour long PvP on lost temple and got promoted into Diamond. :D:D:D alt-f4'd out of the game and didn't play for 4 days because I thought I'd get demoted really quickly, but now I'm working my way to masters.

Lost my placement match. Placed into masters. Went about 4-17, still in masters. Right now I'm about 35-40. The only people I've ever played are 900-1400 masters and rank 1 diamond players every 10 games or so.

Went 2-3 in placement and placed in bronze, after about 20 games i was promoted to silver, then i went to gold and then to plat rapidly. Then i started playing custom games and was stuck at 62 wins at plat even though whenever i decided to play a ladder game i would win. then season 2 came and in the 1 placement match a beat a diamond player and got promoted. since then i have won 125 out of i don't know because it does not show loses, i am 4th in my diamond division and am very happy.

I used to be a pretty bad player in BW. Like the type of player who would build a million cannons and then nothing but dragoons.

When I started playing SC2 I was originally placed in gold for 1v1 though over the course of my next 150ish games I was finally able to make my way into mid-diamond and playing high-diamond/low-masters level players. I haven't played since January though since I've been on military deployment.

I just hope I don't suck to much when I finally get back home in September. Been playing a little bit against the AI just to keep my hand speed up and build orders going and such.

Starcraft 2 is the first RTS I decided to seriously play online. I have had my share of LAN/online games on other RTS, from Total Annihilation:Kingdoms, to the Age series, to Warcraft 3, to Dawn of War (1&2), to Supreme Commander... but I sucked hard at them, and gave up multiplayer after like max 10 games. I felt in love with watching Starcraft 2 games before launch, and decided to give it a try, not knowing if I could have learned how to play it. Started in Bronze as Terran, but after around 50 games, I switched to Zerg as it was the race I wanted to play from the beginning.

After a lot of games, like 200 or something like that, got promoted to Silver, but then I was so bored of playing the game that I switched to Protoss and got demoted in a week or so. The stopped playing. When Season 1 end approached, I was sucked back in the game, and after getting my skills back on track, I decided to give a serious shot to Silver again, with the objective of finishing Season 2 in top 8 Silver.

Again, it took me many games to get promoted, but I learned a lot in the meantime... after a month I was in Silver and after an initial bad start just after promotion, I began winning more than losing again. Today, I've finally got promoted to Gold after a week of playing only against gold and hovering in the top 3 of the league.

The curious thing is that on the game before the one I got promoted, I was losing SO badly to a Terran player, and just before he attacked me with what would have been a final blow, he disconnected and I won that game. I had already decided to call it for the night after that cause I was so pissed off at ZvT at the moment, but after I got lucky I told me "It's your night, you can't just go NOW after such a lucky break". And I got promoted.

I am currently 1-3 and on 20th place on Gold. For you all it's probably nothing. For me, after having lost at ALL the known RTS I've tried, it feels like heaven.

I got out of bronze when someone turtled and tried to use a mother ship recall on scrap station. I use and infestor and NP'd the mother ship and killed his army with no losses because my army was cloaked by his MS.

I was so happy to see a silver promotion :p

I got this game in october because of friends and I was the noobiest of the noobs. Once I found out it was like cnc red alert 2 (one of my recently played games that I loved) i couldnt stop playing it. I watched replays and did everything but I was still a super n00b. I got into bronze of course and learned from a friend. We screwed around a lot and i didnt get my first win until about 30 games in. after that I had a pretty steady stream of wins but a lot was from stupid cheese I used to do. my win loss ratio was terrible and I think i was rank 60-70 cant remember but it was low. Than once school ended I told myself "thats it I can't stand being low in this game I want to do better" I practiced the heck out of this game 7 hours a day and such playing mostly 1v1s. My W/L ration (yes I kept track on a notepad) soon went from 15 wins 20 losses to 50 wins 24 losses (appx) for season 2. I was able to beat my friend who taught me how to play and he was silver for about a month now. Then I met this guy on 1v1 obs who coached me (he was platinum, now he is diamond a week or so later) and I soon went from rank 34 bronze (havent played much season 2) to rank 1 bronze and I was mad because I played golds and silvers for about 2 days and I wasnt promoted. I went to teamliquid and asked what was up and they told me to keep on going and eventually I will be promoted. Sure enough about a day later I got promoted to rank 5 silver in a full division. I was extremely happy but i still wasnt happy enough i said "im going to be one of the highest of the highest" got my friend to help me a little (not as much this time) and just played ladder for a while. today I was promoted to Rank 1 Gold. I was silver for a mere 3 days. My friend who originally taught me to play and was the reason i got this game is still silver as he was for about a month and he just keeps loosing to non-favored players. I told my friend who coaches me "im not done yet, I still need to get to diamond" and I plan on keeping this up.

from messing in bronze to being rank 1 gold in about 3 weeks. All it takes is for you to tell yourself "i will be one of them" and you WILL get somewhere. I am extremely determined to get better. Something I noticed too is when I loose a ladder game I _always_ gg and watch replays and see what I did wrong and such and talk to my "coach" about it and then just go ahead into another ladder game. My silver friend however looses and says "im getting so tired of this im going to play some custom games". I hope he gets to gold soon and as for me I hope to be platinum. I have people all around me telling me "its easy to get into diamond league" with their help and my determination I will be back here sharing more stories.

I cant belive i was fortunate enough to have friends to pressure me into this game, best community, best game, most fun i have ever had in my life. This is the only game I have ever played that really doesnt get boring, i get bored extremely easily and i have over 100 games and i have played none of them as much as I have played starcraft. I was also never as good at any of them as starcraft. GOLD LEAGUE FTW!
