i picked WoL 2 months after retail hit, got placed into bronze after my 0-5 performance in placement matches. never played any rts or competetive games at all (only a li'bit of WoW, like it matters, lolz) got promoted into silver and then gold fairly quickly, discovered tl.net, got pumped for sc even more, started watching and playing a ton, got promoted to platinium and then diamond, when masters league came i got in after maybe 1-2 weeks. im like 800 masters now, looking to get promoted to grandmaster someday

Friend and I cheese every game in 2s and derank occasionally to enjoy the rage of the lower leagues. However, we've not deranked in a few weeks and hit masters 2v2 after a game filled with cannon rushes into the 10 minute mark when we transitioned to mass voidray. Protoss at its finest.

Starcraft 2 is pretty much my first RTS I played online, but for some reason I got placed in gold when I started last year because I won 3 placement matches. Obviously I then got demoted straight to bronze lol. I worked my way up to silver then decided to switch race from terran to zerg (WHY???) and dropped back down to low bronze. So basically I've gone Gold - Bronze - Silver - Bronze - Silver - Gold - Platinum - Diamond...hopefully in masters soon.

before the ladder reset, i was in plat. after the ladder reset, i lost my placement match and was promoted to diamond. meanwhile, my friend gets demoted to gold league for winning his placement. wtf blizzard?!

On my new acc, got 4-1 and got into plat. Then for some reason i got terran 3 times in a row, won over high diamond players and got into diamond, so much for practicing on the lower levels with Z and P xd. Now I'm kinda struggling in ZvT and ZvP. PvZ and PvT are going better for some reason.

I never played RTS games until this one when I got it in August. I started out in bronze and sucked my way to the last spot in my league. Thats when I started watching day 9 dailies, reading guides, watching vods of casters like artosis and when I joined TL

. I must say you all have helped me climb my way through each league to platinum, until 3 days ago... I was in platinum for 4 months, refining my macro and a little bit of micro. Got home from college, got on my brothers SICK ASS comp and played one game. It was a PvZ, on typhon. Pretty standard 3 gate expo into colosis build. He went roach infester which has been given me a hard time lately. And after a 30 min long back and forth brawl we met in the middle for a giant battle. Except I had Dts on the to his bases and he had nothing to stop them. He had to win the battle in the center or it was over. He didnt

and I was promoted to DIAMMONDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!! I have been waiting so long for this moment and will soon try my hardest to reach Masters.

Tip from My experience:
No matter what strategy you use in the lower leagues, you are there because you still have imperfect macro mechanics. If you can refine just your macro skills (building units 24/7!) you will out produce your opponents and win every game and soon be in Diamond GL and HF!

When I first started playing StarCraft II, I made the brutal mistake of skipping my practice league. I played all my placement matches like a noob and got placed into bronze for all four categories. After that, I never played league, I only played custom games. I only played 2 maps, Arakan Citadel and Lost Temple, 3v3 and 1v1 respectively. After playing custom games for about 3 months, I gathered enough confidence to play league. I played some league and was promoted into Gold and Silver for 1v1, 4v4 and 2v2, 3v3 respectively! Of course, that is not big but for me it was a big confidence booster!

I'm 44 years old and obviously don't have the hand speed that my opponents have. Pretty sure I went 3-2 in S1 placement(Protoss) and was put in Gold which quickly led to Silver and then Bronze.

A switch to Zerg saw an APM improvement and a slightly better than 50% win that I think got me back to Silver only to be followed by massive losing streak and back to bronze. S2 started with me still Zerg. Another losing streak had me switch back to Protoss and with my recent 19-8 stretch I just got promoted to Silver!!!

I finally got promoted to platinum the same game I got my solo streak 5 achievement, beating a proxy void ray all-in type of build with siege tanks marine! :D

now the goal is to hit diamond before the end of the season.

I've never had a promotion EVER that was because of a normal game. I got promoted from bronze to silver by doing the lift your CC off and fake a game bug cheese(which worked)

I can't remember all the promotion games I had, but I do know that I have never had a normal game as a promotion game.

In season 1 I got placed in silver. I played a total of 11 games in season 1, won 6 of them. Then I did my placement for season 2 and beat some zerg guy in a baserace. GOLD YO! So now im in gold and ive played like 6 games

Ive noticed that like 80% of my games are zvz though, and i hate that matchup. Ive only ever played 1 terran on ladder :/

In S1, I was bronze all season - lost most of my games, took a 3 month break, brought my winrate up to above 50%. When S2 rolled around, I lost my placement match, but was consistently winning matches.

Once I started playing around with a new strategy, I started winning games like mad. I kept drawing Shakuras for my games, which was pretty much perfect for the 2-base early game that I had been practicing, and never lost. I figured I'd get promoted soon.

Then I went up against a Protoss on some horrible PvZ map, and said to myself "Hey, this is Bronze League, I can get away with roach rushes."

So I did. And then I got promoted on what amounts to a cheesy rush build. I was kind of depressed about it, actually.

1vs1
i had 2 crazy nights winning streaks and got promoted to dia 1 month after release. pity that i abandoned 1vs1 since then.

teamgames:
MASS LINGS and my mates did the rest. For hybrid i did mass arranged teamgames and suprisingly i learned a lot about every race and its basic mechanic.

Season 2

1vs1:
i am trying to get into master which shouldnt be hard. still doing some practise so i am properly prepared and got solid basic down.

teamgames:
most weird thing happend last night: i never got into master in teamgames.
so i kinda gave up and played it randomly. Then last night, one game in 4vs4 and one in 3vs3 brought me into master. weirdddddddd~~~

played some beta in the lowest league (i guess it was named copper back then) because i haven't played any other rts before. practised like 30 games in beta and when the game came out i got silver after my placements. after some games i got better and got promoted to gold. after a losseing streak i looked up some strategys and 17-0'ed my way to platinum. stopped playing for like 5 month and started playing againe in seasson 2. after loosing 5games in a row i decided to get better againe and practised some games with my friends and looked up strategys and replays etc. then i had a huuge winning streak and started to get matched against dia players. i owned them pretty hard as well so the system started to match me against masters and i won some games against them too. i guess the system wanted to test me if im good enaugh to skip diamond and go straight to masters. but i knew that im not good enaught for that so i left 5 games in a row. after the 5.th game i left the system promoted me to diamond. now im practising to become good enaught for masters. got around 150wins right now so around 250-300 games overall played.

my promotions:
copper-silver-gold-platinum-diamond
