I got masters the first day it came out; and when masters came out for team games, I got it in 2v2, 3v3. I didn't get 4v4 masters until season 2. Nowadays, I have multiple masters teams and want to try to climb up the ladder 1v1 (i'm in the bottom 50 ![]()

It was the last day I spent at my old place before moving to Paris. The truck was to pick my stuff and furniture early in the morning and I was slacking instead of packing the few random things that what were left. Obviously the computer would be the last thing I would pack (because yes, I'm a nerd) and I played like 2 or 3 games that night. Getting promoted to Diamond was almost literally the last thing I did before leaving that apartment.

![]() No problem, changed the order to receive it on vacation 6 hours away from my home. The place we were staying didn't have internet so I spent 3 days (8 hours a day) in a coffee shop playing SC2 on my laptop, periodically buying coffee or calling my mom to watch my computer as I took bathroom breaks. Who needs a fucking vacation when you have Starcraft? Got placed into diamond. Ohhh yeahhh.

I had my first ladder game, and when 6pooled, I ended up getting smashed. He actually defended it properly, and pushed out a few minutes later with a few zealots, annihilating me. It was around this time that I realized, "Oh God, all I can do is 6pool and people ranked this high can actually defend it." So, while my friend happily learned at a nice, casual pace in bronze, I was stuck in gold, getting hopelessly thrashed. I was at least two leagues higher than I should have been, which was horribly demotivating. I spent the next three weeks playing only around 20-40 games, with each game being a tedious, harsh learning experience. It was a surprise that I didn't get demoted. However, I soon discovered that I was actually learning incredibly fast for the amount of games I had played; my friend, having played over 200 games by this time was learning a lot slower than me. We played a 'standard' game together, and I ended up having superior mechanics and I simply out-played him. This really motivated me to keep playing, and by the end of my 50th game, my macro clicked. I understood what I needed to get better at, and how I can improve. Suddenly, I was at the same level as most of the people I was vsing, and by the time I earned the Hydralisk portrait, I was promoted into Platinum. I was absolutely overjoyed, as my friend still hadn't made it into silver. Another 100 games and a season later, I'm top 8 Platinum, and eagerly anticipating promotion. My friend had made it into Gold last season with over 500 games under his belt, and with his Season 2 placement match victory, was promoted to Platinum. I had a serious problem with ZvZ: I didn't understand the matchup, it was all too fast compared to the others, and every single game ended up degenerating into speedling all-ins. Ever since my 6pooling mishap, I had been strictly against all-in, and would only play straight-up macro games. Frustrated, I watched MrBitter's 12 Weeks With The Pros and saw how Dimaga opened with a very safe, macro-orientated build. The tiny change in timing with the Hatchery made all the difference in my ZvZ games. I ended up losing 1/15 of all the rest of my Platinum ZvZs, and ended up easily getting promoted into Diamond. I was absolutely thrilled, as I never thought I would ever even get a chance to see Diamond anytime in my Starcraft II career. Not really the most exciting story, but it really means a lot to me. Starcraft is (shamefully) the first thing that has truly given me a truthful understanding of the concept of effort = reward.

was in bronze for a couple weeks, lost 3 games in a row, won a game "you have been promoted based to silver". then i won 10(?) games in a row (with my now super solid bio build), tried to cheese a couple times, lost all those times, school work caught up on me, and finals and such so my laddering is on hold. that is all.

In platinum, I hit a plateau for about 80 games - until I learned how to properly 4gate. My actual promotion to diamond was because one player got mad at the matchmaking system on his smurf account and left after ranting about it to me.

Silver to gold wasn't as funny, but as soon as I joined the game my opponent (who was diamond) said rofl and left, and gave me a new league. Gold to plat was simple enough, I won like 9 games in a row and made plat 7 pooling in a zvz.

Half a week later, I got platinum. A week later, I got into diamond. Played for a couple of months on and off. Took a 4 month break from SC2. Saw that masters league was released, so I decided to learn a new race and try to get into masters league. It took me about 2 weeks and I got promoted at around 1700 diamond. Now I am forever masters. :3

+ Show Spoiler + It was a PvZ on Zel'Naga, so I 4-gated, just because the natural's opening is so damn wide, and so much harder to hold vZ than on most other maps. My opponent did Spanishiwa's no-gas build (I failed at scouting and didn't realize this until I attacked). Knowing he wouldn't be attacking me anytime soon, I expanded and teched to DT's. I then expanded again behind my DT's. I managed to do enough damage to keep him on 3.5 bases for a while, and the game eventually evolved into the wierdest macro game I've ever been in. I got mad upgrades and lots of HT's and chargelots. Eventually, I got 3 stargates and about 9 VR's. I attacked at around 180 supply, into a bunch of ultras and infestors! It was so wierd. We basically traded armies, but I made sure to kill off his AA units, so my VR's were still alive, but couldn't attack because of his queens. The coolest part of this was that I remembered HotBid's post about mini-map feedback and used it to feedback all of his infestors. It was awesome. Eventually, I mustered up another force and killed him. The craziest thing about my promotion, however, is that because I fell so far behind in the beginning, I was just messing around. In a 30-minute game, I never got a robo fac! I was pretty happy with the promotion, because I'd been crushing other people in gold ever since this season started.

Eventually he saw that he was going to die unless he defended his last buildings, however it was an unwinnable position; my mutas where faster than his units so if he moved out he would lose, however if he didnt move out i would keep sniping units and retreating until my mutas recovered their health. It was a cool game ![]()

BOOM PvP! OH GOD NO, HOW DO I QUEUE DODGE? So I get into the game without a plan and without a paddle and I say to myself "Hell it's PvP, I'mma 4gate the son of a gun". I scout this guy around 12 food, he's walling off, alright I got this. I get my 4gate prepared and I'm getting my pylon out, he hasn't scouted me yet, I got this.. I GOT THIS!|! I warp in a bunch of units at his natural and I'm ready to push, suddenly THOUSANDS OF ZEALOTS run out of the base and just catch me off guard, at the same time DTs in my base raping my face. Crushed, I say the gg and die a little inside. The game ends, I meet the score screen and sigh to myself. Then, suddenly, a pop up comes up saying YOU HAVE BEEN PROMOTED TO SILVER LEAGUE. At first I'm confused, I lost my match why am I getting promoted from Bronze League? I chat with my proponent from the last match (the rat bastard), and he says he's still in bronze and his placement match put him in a worse position than he was originally in. Laughing to myself, I press the ladder button again and play a few more games, winning all of them. Then I went back to school work and haven't played since. And that friends, is my cool story about how I made it to the glorious and prestigious SILVER LEAGUE. SILVER LEAGUE FIGHTING.
