My ladder matches aren't very memorable to me. What is memorable is all the practice and hard work I put in in getting my promotions. Lots of beating my head against the master-league wall that is my buddy and playing in US Craft Cup weekly tourneys, polishing my macro and trying to wrap my head around timings and strategies, and wishing my mechanics and control were better.

Made Platinum yesterday at lunch and the promotion plaque popping up as well as the practice games with my Masters' buddy before that game were way more memorable than the game itself.

I was in grandmasters on PTR before 1.3.3 (lol ptr), played my 1 placement match and got placed in gold??? =(

I had been in high diamond pushing masters for a few weeks and was getting pretty frustrated at the lack of promotion. The final game I got promoted I was sure I was going to lose because I canceled my 9/10 drone, which in ZvZ (or any match-up really) is HUGE. I went zergling baneling with the hopes that I could get some miraculous win. My opponent wasn't bad, but luckily, he/she didn't 10 pool and I was later able to catch 3 roaches slightly out of position. This forced his lings to engage and allowed my banelings to connect properly: GG.
I shouted pretty loudly when I finally got promoted.

I got the game 3 weeks ago and my teams are now

1v1: gold
2v2: gold
3v3: diamond
4v4: gold

1v1 is the only one I really work at. Bronze to silver happened once I understood basic macro and the idea of keeping money low. Basically after I "understood" protoss units and how to manage my money on a basic level I was promoted. Silver to gold happened when I started winning 60 percent of my games vs terran/zerg (protoss win rate has always been around 80 percent). I finally have the 3 gate sentry expand down and I'm learning more every day. I'm beginning to win more than I lose in gold now, so I should be moving up to plat soon :D

My goal is masters by the end of the summer so we'll see..

i think that i have had disconnecting opponents multiple times directly before my promotions...
(went from gold->silver->bronze->silver->gold->plat->diamond) so i have had my share of league changes XD

I decided to not care wether I would get promoted to Masters or not since I just found it stressfull to eagerly await a promotion after each game. After realizing that, I looked forward to spending a longer time in diamond really focusing on improving before moving up to masters.

Two games later I get promoted. All my motivation gone.

After playing the beta for very few games, I got the retail and started with a perfect 5-0 in my placement matches. Got put into platinum and was very glad I was there. Since I'm slow and old I didnt expect anything higher. Then I actually LOST a game and got promoted to diamond afterwards. Came of as a total suprise.

Stopped playing mid-season, because friends were getting into another game and have just started to play again. I'm slowly regaining my game ability, but again, I'm quiete content with staying diamond, so who knows, maybe there will be a surprise promotion to masters again.

Well, my story is weird.

In the Beta, I was a solid copper player.

In the retail version, I got placed gold. Then I was demoted to Silver. Then for Season 2 to Bronze.

I just won a game and got promoted to Silver, though.

after plagement i got into plat, 10 games later i'm in Diamond. I start playing again when masters arrive and i get promoted. Getting bored of Terran i switched to Zerg. 10 games later i got demoted to diamond tho i didn't feel like i was playing worse. tho two weeks before the new season i played alot and had a very high winrate. Next season i got promoted to masters. That felt awesome because I worked for it.

I think the best felling ever was that when i was promoted from diamond to master, i was losing a lot of games vs chees/stupid build and then 1 weekend i said to myself " man i am better then those guys, i need to stop fucking around and get my ass out there play some games and get promoted " and i did, i was promoted with a 11 win streak the same they i got into craftcup Bo64 and got knocked out by a dc after beating a shit ton of master players that were 1k points above me, what a great felling :D
Hope that in a year or 2 i get good enough to be GM and share that story as well <.<.

was forever bronze in the beta, doing stupid ass tactics because i only signed up for the beta as a joke. Near then end of the beta i really started enjoying the game and wanted to improve. On release i played a lot, got to gold. Then, when i was near rank 1 gold, i played this toss who absolutly destroyed me(im terran). I was so pissed i played as toss the next game to show myself how ez it is. came up against a terran who i knew was going banshees and owned him, in the game i got promoted to plat. Now i play toss fulltime, high diamond almost masters

Started as bronze, took me about 50 games to get to silver, then about 50 more to get to gold, then about 60 -70 to get to platinum. I don't know why it took so long to get promoted back then, my win/loss ratio was ridiculous (80/20). This latest season I played my placement match and got placed in masters.. cheee

In beta patch 6 I was silver, then the next ladder reset I got plat(which was the highest) and I was super excited. Then got diamond when that came out, and when sc2 was released got my diamond and master when it came out.

I've stuck with Terran since the start, and placed into gold when I got the game in August. I almost entirely relied on 3 rax/heavy bio play in all matches until platinum where the builds finally started to deviate.For platinum, I favored banshee/drop/harass play, a lot of players around that level had a hard time handling multiple points of pressure and I sort of exploited that. To get into diamond, I used that one thor build against a protoss where you rush for the +1 armor and push with about 10 marines and scvs to repair. And then finally for masters, I got into it about a week after its release, with a 8 win streak. Don't remember the specifics of my promotion though. D:<

Only time I remember being promoted is into silver and diamond. I was first placed in bronze and played something like 30 games, watched replays of pros and tried hard to get out of bronze.

The diamond promotion I remember I was at a mates place stuck in platinum and I was playing protoss and the terran walled off on jungle basin. My mate told me to go voids and charge up on the wall off then stomp him and I did exactly that :D. After the game we went out to the casino and had a good time :D

New promotion story

My friend and I chat with our online friend whom we haven't played with in many months. We decide to 5-0 our 3v3 placements to try to get masters, but realize we only have 2 left cause we never finished them from all the way back then. So, we get two quick wins (Ling, Hellion, 4gate) and get masters!

Only missing 4v4 masters now =D

Started off Silver played a bit and got promoted to Diamond during beta. Release came out, was placed in Platinum, eventually got promoted to Diamond after many games. Then once Masters came out, managed to get into Masters. Stayed at around the mid-high level of Masters, learned about season 2 and grandmasters. Took this entire weekend to grind ladder, and got promoted to Grandmasters.

Just started to play again lately, and I'm in plat atm.

But at the start of SC2 I was placed in platinum after the 5 placement matches, then I won most of my matches and was eventually promoted to diamond.

The funny part was that the match I was promoted from was a match I lost, and it wasn't like a close call. I was crushed, he outplayed me in almost every single way. But when the game was over I was promoted.

last season i thought it would take a year for me to get into diamond turns out i did it in the first season one thing i thought was awesome is that i made it my mission to get into plat before the end of 2010 and i did it the day before

But ye started in bronze at september 2nd (my birthday) was sooo happy when i got all the way up to diamond
