I made diamond tonight!
I have two accounts. One is for messing around and one is for getting on winning streaks and winning 9 out of ten games, at times. My serious account got promoted tonight. If you look on sc2 rankings, you will see that I had been in silver for a long long long time. Then, I started to watch terran videos. I found Halby as a real good person who understands terran. So, I learned to play very well and build very well. I am getting better apm (real apm, not spam).
I like diamond. And as I move up, I will start to face master league guys. So, I am looking forward to that. Right now, I am #1 in my league as diamond. I got promoted straight from #1 plat to #1 diamond. My wife has been telling me that I am bound to get promoted and she was right. The first thing that I did after the promotion was to go grab her from upstairs and show her the screen shot that you see here.
I think it is a good accomplishment to go from terrible at bronze to all the way to diamond. I think if I keeep on working at it, I will start to face master league people and eventually make it masters.
I will use my mess around account to practice and use the serious account for when I am not tired or distracted. I will easily bring up my messing around account to diamond and keep on practicing with it. I am very relaxed with my smurf account and sometimes I even do better on that account because i am not stressing out when I play my smurf account.
cheers.

Just got promoted into Masters! Unfortunately I didn't print screen it .
Anyways, I've been in diamond pretty much since the release of Starcraft 2. Wasn't very good though, just playing BW really got me through it. Won most of my games because I could macro (slightly) better then my opponents.
I was pretty much a mid-range Diamond player all the way up to Season 1. As the new season hit, I went into this insane streak, going like 25-4 or something. Prior to this, I was going 50% win rate. I think I finally started winning because most of my games was PvP.. and I finally figured out how to play it decently.
Bout a month ago, I faced my first Masters opponent and won which made me think I was gonna get into Masters like the next day or so. Suffice to say, it didn't happen, and I eventually slumped for like 4-5 days, going 50%.
So today, I played just a few games, and finally got promoted! The game where I got promoted: The guy was going for a Thor rush, but he got a little too greedy, and built no bunker. My standard Zealot + Stalker poke ended up doing insane amounts of damage, enough for me to get my Nexus up, Robo up and 3 gates running for a few minutes before the push had even arrived. A bit of target firing with the Immortal and I cleaned it up for the win =D.
Cheers!

I was in diamond from like week two after release and even though I switched to random about in the middle of season one I stayed in diamond. But then I went on a big losing streak right before the end of the season ond managed do get demoted pretty much at the latest possibly moment before there were no more pro-/demotions possible at the seasons end. Well, at least I "won my division" by a fair margin...

Started silver I think. Got ranked up to Plat quickly. I play infrequently, but spend a lot of time reading/watching replays, ended up getting to Diamond after around 65~ 1v1s. Wish I could get masters one day, but I imagine I would need to play +200 games? (Or win, more precisely, most of them).

I remember each of my promotions fairly clearly. I started in bronze. I've always loved RTS games but never really knew how to play them correctly, so I struggled for quite a while. Then Day9 taught me how to macro and I started winning a lot more, after about 2 months, I was in silver, and kept winning the same way, but unfortunately I hit a wall since I was playing on a laptop, with no mouse. I got one in december, and immediately shot to gold. A week later I hit platinum. I was ecstatic. unfortunately, I hit a wall at this point, as I was finally playing against more experienced players with actual skill. I tried a race switch to terran, lost probably 27 of my next 30 games and got pushed back down to gold. frustrated, I switched back to protoss in february. I battled hard through the rest of the season, firmly believing I belonged in Platinum. with hours left in season one, I was promoted once again to plat. I stayed there at the start of season 2, and about a week later, I got a fancy new desktop computer. the lack of lag made my unit control shoot through the roof and I was in diamond a week later. I have now been playing against high diamond opponents, and heave beaten a few master's opponents. I aim to be in the master's league by the end of the summer.

i played a bit in beta and made it to diamond in beta, and when the game came out i quickly made it into diamond (after about 20 games or so). i didn't really think much of this.
when masters came out, all of the top players in my diamond division were moved into masters, so i thought i could get in, too. but i was wrong. in season 1 i played and played and played, but i was stuck at diamond 1 for a long time. i would go for a week without playing and fall down, build up bonus points, and then use them all and get back to diamond 1 again. at one point i had racked up 400 bonus points and fell to diamond 30s, and then i used them all in a week or two week span and got back to diamond 1, but i never made it into masters.
when season 2 rolled around, i lost my first match and got placed into masters. i was like wtf. apparently losing is what i needed to do?
once in masters, i was around 50% win/loss (still am), but i went on a losing streak at one point, losing like 10 out of 12 or something horrible and fell to diamond. then i went on a 14 or 15 game winning streak and made it back to masters (i'm around 500-600). pretty silly i guess. i'm still a scrub i guess

Got placed into Platinum last July and didn't play much, but won enough to get me into Diamond. When I heard about the ladder reset, I realized I should probably start playing to get to Masters and I got there in about 5 days, which felt really good. Last season was great for me actually...I think I ended up being like 45 games over .500.

I was in bronze, playing Zerg, then get bored so i switch to protoss. After I realize i was doing the same thing over and over again in PvP i switch to Terran
I was in my school in the computer room with some guy, playing against them and in the ladder. I was against a zerg that go zergling muta no bling against me, while i try to mech. He manage to beat my thor and run his zerling in my base because i didn't raise my supply depot in time. My friend tell me to gg, But I said "Never give up Never surrender !" and barely be able to do a mass marines. Because i was in bronze i said to myself "He can't expand because we are not good enough, we are in bronze " I manage to kill his natural with my last tank and lots of marines, then his main and finaly his more recent expension.
When the victory screen appears i was so happy, joking about my awesome skill to my friend then the promotion screen appears and i litteraly jump on my chair

I was plat 3v3 for all of last season (I barely ever played it, lol who 3v3s in SC2?), this season I play 1 placement match, lose and get into diamond?
Wat?

Once upon a time in a land far far away,
I came home drunk and decided to play a game of SC2. I figured that there was no way I can possibly play a macro game, since I was too lazy to think. So I decided to 4gate the hell out of my opponent. He went DTs, We base traded.. but I killed him off faster.
Blizzard thought the game was so crazy epic that I deserve a promotion into diamond.
The End.

I was in low Gold 2 weeks ago, then I figured out what the fuck to do and got promoted to platinum. I haven't been laddering for about the last week, but last night I was in the asc weekly gold/platinum tournament and made it to the round of 8 out of 100+ people, so I'd say I'm on the right track.

Never played Broodwar but I played a decent amount of Warcraft III.
Bought this game a couple weeks after release because I was on vacation, and started with the campaign. I finished the campaign doing every achievement except for “Hurry up it is raid night”. I continued playing around 10 games in the starters league, but a friend told me that they were nothing like the “real” game with the rocks and such so that I was better off just skipping those games.
I played my placement matches and got placed in bronze. Nothing special because I really had no clue on how to play this game, I don’t know if it has anything to do with me being an accountant but in my first games ever I always ended up with having 4 bases and I didn’t focus at all on army composition. I had an army but massed ling/roaches/hydra without caring much. After being placed in bronze, and playing 20 games there, something clicked in my head and I figured out I had to figure out how to play this game. I found TeamLiquid, and its (back then) infamous Strategy forum. After browsing through all the “OMG I CAN’T BEAT THIS STRAT” threads I quickly found 3 decent builds I could abuse my way into diamond with, and I learned about how to beat abusive strats.
After hitting diamond rather quickly (100 games?, I cant remember) I actually started learning the game. My game was still pretty abusive but after a while I could also pull some macro games off. But I was able to hit a decent ranking in diamond because my first 10 minutes in every game were pretty solid.
I hitted Masters the weekend after patch day, I remember I was pretty solid in ZvZ (which was always 14gas 13 pool and then only ling/baneling) and ZvP (which was the 2RR, or mass upgraded lings) my only problem was the endless crap Terran could trow at me. But after playing a day for 12 hours straight I guess my mind was able to counter the endless cloaked banshees (50% of the time back then) and I got promoted.
Being in Masters in another story. Sometimes I feel that the difference in skill that I have to gain to go from world rank 6000 to world rank 4000 is a hundred times harder than going from bronze to masters. I actually have not reached rank 4000. However, I plummeted to rank 9000 when I started to use spanishiwa and infestors. But now that is another trick in my bag and I am back to rank 5000.
I enjoyed every game in SCII so far.

For some reason, I played all my placement games against bronze players only. I went 4-1, so I was placed in Silver.
While in Silver, I'm pretty sure I've never played against a silver player. I've played against gold players once or twice. At that time, I pretty much only played plat or diamond players.
When Season 2 began, I lost my placement match and get placed in plat.

quit the game for like 6 months, came back, played one placement, lost it (close though) and got into masters.
|
w3 background started sc2 in september last year, placed in silver 1 week -> gold 2 weeks -> platinum for a month -> at last working through diamond when it was highest, but stuck there for nearly 3 months after masters was added before another promotion. Shows how there's "this point" to break through your boundries.
Oh. Playing toss. Actually my promotion game to diamond was win vs 3rax reaper cheese (yea, remember those days?) and to masters - defending cannon rush for almost 10 min. Both guys smacktalked the hell outta me in the end, 'how could i win vs their cheese' etc. If i ever get to GM i predict my promotion game would be with combatex.

Played in beta and when game came out, like 22 games and won every one but 1, got diamond back then.
Haven't played for over 6 months, play 1 game in new season, lose it, got into Diamond again. Now I lose like 3/4 games but the 1 game I win is against someone favored and I still manage to be at top 20 at diamond -_-
I want to be silver

Started out as a Bronze for losing 1 and disc't 1 out of 5 placements, cruised up the ladder relatively easily. Having BW background helped greatly, so I made Diamond, and then Masters quite easily in season 1. Now currently sitting at around 100-140 Grandmasters league. Possibly have hit my glass ceiling.
|
I lagged out in 2 of my placement games when the game first went live and was placed into Gold. After 2 games I was promoted to Platinum and 3 more games I got Diamond. When Masters was introduced, I didn't get auto-promoted but it only took me 6 or 7 games to get into Masters. I don't play enough to get into GM though so Masters will probably be my max rank.
|
Past couple weeks I was laddering on and off, started winning tons of games against diamonds, then masters. Knew I was really close to promotion, could not study for finals. Spent some time laddering instead of finals studying. Got promoted into a fresh master league, can study in peace.
