Keep Diggity casting. At first I was like "who the fuck is this guy" (really unfair of me, I know- I've just never seen Diggity's face), but I realized he was good, then I realized it was Diggity and I was happy. He shouldn't dress like a Jehova's Witness, though (unless he is one, in which case that's fine, I guess).

1) Not to pile on but... Gretorp isn't that bad. But having to adjust my volume to near mute when he starts yelling is bad.
2) Something is wrong with the pre-game hype. The only fair comparison is to TSL because they're both not live broadcasts. Something about their pre-game intros with the music and portraits, together with graphics before each match, setting up each match made it better. The way it's set up now is a little underwhelming.
3) I was going to point out the intermissions but someone above said that people were requesting intermissions? I would figure that broadcasting the games 24 hours later would provide opportunity to get rid of all the breaks. It's actually one of the only benefits from their set up and they chose to include them?

The 5 minute intermission seemed like an eternity. It probably wasn't - but wouldn't that be great to take that time, to display commercials from their sponsors? Seems like THE time to do so, if any.

That said, we're all so accustomed to 2 min. commercial breaks that wow...5 minutes...yes it's awfully long.

I also need to complain about the lack of volume normalizing, eg. when gretorp starts yelling, the volume goes to 11 and it hurts my ears.

That InControl "joke" during the commercial was funny the first time....kinda...but then they kept looping it? Why? Just didn't seem to be a great idea. Again showing commercials from their sponsors would fill in that dead time.

I noticed some weird audio desync issue too...it was a bit annoying to see their lips move but their voices out of sync.

I hate Gretorp. I didn't know who he was before this, but I seriously cannot watch the matches because his casting is so terrible. I would honestly prefer Kelly Milkies. I am pissed I paid $25 and I can't watch it because of that idiot's nails-on-a-chalkboard voice.

If this isn't changed this is the first and only season that I support the league by buying a premium pass

I feel like the show itself isn't really well-thought-out. There is this huge introduction of every player and every match-up and then you just string the matches together with not-optimal transitions ('We're going right into the next game' into 5 minute pause - though I don't even mind it that much). So then we get to see the first match and I can't even remember who is playing because you just introduced 10 players. It is confusing, not natural and there's is just no connection to the players.

Also swapping casters like it happened today which seemed totally random and then showing a lone Gretorp... is again so confusing, random and makes it hard to get into the show. In addition to that I think Gretorp isn't a caster-type guy. He sure tries hard but his overexcitement about most basic things or rare but really unimportant stuff (Mothership vortex in the Darkforce-Cruncher game3) is just over the top. He isn't very well worded as well repeating words way to often ('indeed') or shouting over his co-casters. Maybe that can be improved but I don't see it happening since it's like very basic casting things. His game analysis is lacking too but that just happens when you play more than you cast so I'm absolutely sure he can improve on that but I don't think this is enough to make him a very good caster.

Next thing I want to talk about is that incontrol clone video. While it was funny when you posted it on the forums and showed it the first time in the cast I think it really doesn't belong into a tournament which wants to be professional and gives ~$50.000 to the winner. Though it shows the current state of the professionalism of the show: It is 5 levels below what it should be after the hype it has received and the prizepool that is involved... which makes me sad.

I know there are always problems when you start something big but it is just too much going wrong. All those small things (look at the OP) make watching the show feel really weird and uncomfortable and the games aren't particular exciting as well.

I just saw some talk about the fixed map order being bad. I actually like it because it promotes developing map specific builds. That's what makes this game awesome.

I'd like to further explain what I feel about the show but I need to go. I hope in a week or two this post looks way too harsh because currently this doesn't look like a Star League.

Sorry I'm being so negative but the the stuff you do well get very overshadowed by the flaws of the show.

The standings list on the frontpage of NASL.tv is horribly spoilery for everyone in EU waiting for the restream,especially when waiting for the stream to pop up at the frontpage, just above the results spoiler

Either make it a dropdown list (If I click it/mouseover the box, it will display the results) or delay the results just like you delay the VODs.

About the VODs, what is the reason you release them after the EU restream? I see no need for that, if someone from EU bought a HD pass and would like to watch it before the actual restream, why not? It's not like the results would get spoiled or something, as it's all already out. Do you prefer to have people watch "live" during the restream?

Some issues i've noticed are that the casters like to face each other and not look at the camera, especially gretorp and diggity. Also another issue is the observer in the taldrim incontrol vs ensnare game the observer didn't go to incontrols base for the longest time and it would've been extremely hard for me to tell what build he was doing if i wasn't looking at the production tab the entire time. I'm pretty sure we didn't see his base at all until ensnares scv sneaked in there.

My biggest complaint would be the lack of tab control. It's hardly uncommon for the observer to just set it to income or unit tab for the entire game, which effectively leaves us blind if the casters miss something.

NASL are actually doing a pretty good job with the production, minus small mishaps at the start of the game (not showing the correct bases when they do that 4 screen split thing) and being late to put out the score screen (that was yesterday, not sure about today, didn't really watch the game).

But one of the biggest problem's for me is Gretorp's mic. NASL either need to get better quality mics, or turn down his volume as when he shouts, it usually messes with the sound (static + other annoyances).

Also, I don't think that Gretorp is that great of a caster. Diggity + incontrol might be okay. with Gretorp being a stand-in the days Incontrol play. But then again, I'm not really watching NASL because of the casters, so the quality of casters isn't really a concern for me. The sound and production related things are more of a concern for me.

Oh, and I didn't really like having Gretorp cast with Khaldor. It just seemed really unprofessional to see him sitting there alone and having the terrible sound quality of Khaldor's mic.

I'd like it if they used fancy animations to signify that a match is under way (GSL style). It makes it look a bit more professional, but also helps to more starkly differentiate between each match.

I personally would like to see them swap between different windows more often. There is a tendency to just leave the info tab sitting unchanging on the army/production tab for 90% of the game; whereas I would like to see it cycle between these at a significantly higher rate; or at least a little bit.

Also please put a compressor on the audio; there have occasions with unbearable peaks.

Thanks for a great league, just a few suggestions

The studio looks incredibly grey - maybe a little more colour - sponsor logos, etc - I do understand if its still under construction

Try to match the colour hue, saturation, etc of the GSL cast, the current NASL looks a little washed out and bright

Different casters are a great idea, but make them aware of the mic/volume issues so they try to keep their voices even for now (so quiet then SO LOUD) ps- Khaldor is brilliant

Justin.TV vods - need to be renamed better with the player names mentioned e.g. week 1 set 2 Morrow v Rainbow, for me, now, its just guesswork

Just to note, most TV sports casts all look exactly the same .. because that is what works best, that formula, which has been developed over many years. I'm not saying GOM is perfect, but I am saying they have the right formula - and I am saying there is absolutely no harm if other casts and events (such as NASL) use the GOM structure as a template for themselves.

Something is wrong with the sound. I do not think it's the mics that are cheap since the intro music and ingame sound sounds low quality, so it's probably a post-processing thing. And turn on ingame music, and like GSL use the terran music regardless of the matchup.

Gretorp is decent, Diggity is great.
