While this is true it's a bigger statement about how horrible going to the movies has become ![]() ![]() My point is that just because one thing is broken is no reason to break another one. I definitely don't think that 20 dollars is too much if they deliver what the promise in nice and professional packaging but it remains to be seen ![]()

The money is there for a reason, and their business model requires income of some kind. Advertisements run on the same principle -- advertisers aren't in the habit of donating money to streamers to run their ads, it's a business decision. If it didn't recoup costs they wouldn't do it. NASL has operating fees as well. Without some sort of cash flow they cannot produce good quality content. Without good quality content, viewership declines. Without significant viewership, sponsors are hard to find for leagues like this. And leagues like this support the careers of players who couldn't play without leagues like this to win. It all makes sense, it's just a question of whether you want to support esports or not. Wouldn't sponsors want more people to watch the free stream, where presumably, more adverts will be played? I'll support the sponsors by watching more of their commercials on the free stream and support esports in this way.

Unfortunately I don't have the money to purchase one for season 1, but if it all goes smoothly and I have some spending money before the second season, I'll definitely get myself a ticket.

Does this mean that while streaming, even the premium stream has commercials interrupting the games/casts? Maybe they're not sure what it means yet. If I were them, I'd want to retain the option. I mean, if a massive sponsor came along ...

I do, however, feel like at least one person involved has made a career out of posturing themselves as a professional player without any real accolades to their name, and abusing that to persuade the newer players to starcraft 2 into giving him undeserved revenue. It seems like a league set up in order to receive more money, without any real input from the outside community - the invite system means that there is a possibility of creating the league and receiving prize money even though there may be more deserving players that were not invited as a result of the system of invitations used in the league. The whole thing just seems rather suspicious, and I would rather not be a part of it. That's all! First of all, this mystery man is an employee of the organization, and while he's obviously good at promoting himself, I don't think you have to worry about this tournament being some high stakes, machavellian scheme to install him as the extreme ruler of Starcraft 2. ![]() I think the invitation is more a result of insuring that the first season featured a diverse range of high quality players from different scenes and continents. It's not a fair or perfect system, but it a much more cost effective way of launching a quality tournament. Even running qualifiers can be complex, lengthy and expensive, and I assume the NASL wanted to hit the ground running with good games. I think the organizers saw the first 3 seasons of GSL qualifiers, and saw how inconsistent the quality of the games and results were. The second season will feature an open tournament, so hopefully the field of players will naturally improve over time. But honestly, when I look at the roster now no one is really 'dead weight'. There's not bitbybitprime around to slum up the games.

I certainly go on TL at least once a day, and often to look at replays and streams of top players.... now we will have high quality vods from the biggest foreign tournament to-date. Quit whining and pony up scrooge. edited.

Pay $350 for your brand-new ipod but won't pay $1 for the app? I understand that, because Apple is so filthy rich and popular they really dont need the money. Can you really say the same for SC2? How much do you really care about this game getting big. Is it worth it to you for 22 measly cents a day? User was warned for this post
