I only red 1/2 the thread, but it negativity seems to be a big trend in TL. Not like public hon chat, but we are getting there.
We get free streans with a 30% higher quality than gsl´s paid stream.
Those who want 5x the quality of gsl paid stream and vods on demand can pay 7$/month to do so.
It is not like you have to pay 20$/month for something you do not want/use like for example public tv in germany -.-.
ps: personally i dont pay for anything and with felt 3 tourneys/day i am already watching more than playing sc2 so i do not feel the need for me, but hell, if they can provide a stable 1080p stream i could see me paying 20$ just for a final i want to watch on tv with friends and a beer.
sc superbowl time .

OH WOW, is NASL gonna be casted from replays? If so, fuck that.
|
People are so caught up in the "minimal commercial interruption." GSL has commercials now too, its not a big deal. I can watch a 15 second add between games if that helps support the league.
Things of this magnitude cost money to run, lots of money. 25 is not too much to ask for purchasing a product that takes lots of time, people and work. I will be buying a pass

I am going to go out on a limb and say anyone with a computer and internet connection that can stream the NASL also has access to a movie theater.

I have limited bandwith so I'd use the low quality stream anyway.

They will be casting from replays. iNcontrol did say that in some instances they may try to cast a live game, but it is clear the intent is to use replays. I don't think they understand what live means. How can people get so many of the already stated facts wrong?!

I'd rather start over with WoW.
I wonder if they'll also tell us that they need the money to "improve the stream".
|
i never pay for watching starcraft lol
|
$25 is waaay too much. Even a GSL season pass doesn't cost that much. No chance I will pay it.

Choosing incontrol over minigun is horrible. Their website looks like a high schooler taking a beginning computer class made it..

You would be going out on a limb. If you think market penetration for movie theaters is greater than internet access...Okay.

To the OP:
I believe iNcontrol stated april 11th would be the first day (dunno if thats games or broadcasts)
I also believe 8pm EST, 5PM PST were the broadcast times.

Then I don't get what Xeris wrote in the Q&A-thread: "Question: Will the games be casted from replays?
Answer: Games will NOT be cast from replays. The games will be cast AS they are being played, they just won't be STREAMED live... after the cast, the videos will be sent to production, and after editing they will be broadcast in the evenings. I'm gonna try to catch it live when I can.
Not going to pay. Not because I don't want to, but because I don't have $25 to spare when I can watch it live anyway. And I don't really care about the quality much.

Then you'd be wrong. I used to live in a town where the nearest theatre was 4 hours away, and I had internet access. I'm also sure there are other people who either live far away from a theatre, or do not have access to the means of transportation to get there (IE: A car).

You wouldn't pay the same amount of $150 for a NBA D-league pass, regardless if the season was twice as long. Sports and competitive games are more fun to watch when played at the highest levels.. and NASL is basically the minor leagues of starcraft2, so if they want people to pay there needs to be much better reasons justifying the equivalent price tag to GSL. The NASL is not the "minor leagues" of SCII. It is easily the 2nd or 3rd most stacked pool of players of all competitions.
Indeed, the prize pool ensured that.

I really don't think they understand what is going on. Ads are for making money off of people who don't pay, like normal websites, google, bing, TV, you know anything ever on the internet/tv. You don't charge to watch stuff THEN show ads ontop of it.

They will be casted live while they are being played, but that broadcast is going to be recorded and replayed with "production".

On April 02 2011 06:13 Vei wrote: OH WOW, is NASL gonna be casted from replays? If so, fuck that. No, it'll be casted live, but not broadcasted live to ensure no cheating occurs. So the two players play, iNcontroL and Gretorp will be casting while the playing occurs. They will take the footage, do post, add production, then broadcast it the next day.
Until there delay can be implemented reliably and such, this is the only way tournaments can ensure no cheating occurs. Any inkling of cheating or any suspicion of such will call into question the tournament's legitimacy.
