I think typhon peaks is somewhat fine....unless you play close ground, where ridiculous timing pushs are possible thanks to - again - destructible rocks.

But on close air and cross are playable, even if taking third expansions is still a pain.

so lt got a update and typhoon replaced shakuras. rest gets vetoed by evryone like steppes and jb .


so not much changed other then crushing some peoples remaining trust in blizz. well whatever.



just hope the tournaments wont pick the shitty ones up.nowadays you could build a amazing 10 map pool , no need to include the crappy ladder ones and it might give blizz another hint that maybe what they do isnt so great when the random nubers ask why they cant play the maps on ladder they see on streams all the time.

This backwater Gulch .. what the fuck My protoss buddy goes 2 gas into .. ??? well exactly the main is so damn big that i have no clue if he went DT Stargate 4gate

I just see the same old problem that i can't find out what the enemy is doing becuase its not possible for me to have a overlord on both sides of his base,

I enjoy some of the new maps, however, they all seem more favored towards two base bullshit rather than a longer macro game. I do not know what Blizzard is thinking when they create maps. I honestly don't.

I still cannot believe they took out Shakuras Plateau though. That map was the most perfect map I could ever dream for as a Zerg. Who gives a shit about unique features? And I'm more than likely certain they mean DEBRIS more than anything. They throw that crap in there like seeds to birds for crying out loud.

I just laughed as hard as I could when I played Slag Pits though. Really? You honestly want to give a Terran the chance to drop you from all over the place with a shorter rush distance (in close positions) than Steppes of War? Are you kidding me? Oh, and let's not forget that the Terran player can Siege up and destroy 90% of your base from below. Including your Nexus/CC/Hatchery.

I'm going to play GSL Maps. At least they know how to create maps that create amazing games, and are fun to play constantly.

I'm mostly a 2v2 player, so can't say much about the 1v1-maps, but overall I've had some good games on the new 2v2-maps so far. The exception would be Red Stone Gulch, which I absolutely hated due to the narrow paths, easily defended hidden expansions, and backdoors.
The other maps feels a bit more open than the older 2v2 maps and a bit better for macro games.
1000 at least.

SC2 is a new game with a lot of new people being new to RTS even. This new people are shit at macro. This people can not handle a 15 min + game with more then one expo.

Blizz delivers maps that almost give attackers advantage (an abomination for an RTS) and limit games to one base or at max 2 base all ins. IMHO, this is so that even the most unskilled one base all in noob can get in to the higher leagues, the masses have to feel good.

I hope this trend of appealing mostly to the noobs is only temporary or else we will see an ICCUP 2 league system.

Shit maps, very, very bad for esports!

I slightly disagree, the "new" lost temple is now quite zerg favoured in PvZ (dunno about TvZ, playin protoss). Cloud agreed on that on Take's stream and he's terran, so no reason why he would say that.

Obviously I need to play more games on that map, but right now I think it will be a thumbs down for me. I have actually no idea how to punish zergs who drone like crazy and take a super fast third, because if I misread them only slightly I get killed by platinum players a-moving (yes this actually happened to me once). The only other option is a 6 gate all-in.

This must be one of the most ridiculous comments I've ever read. Just today I saw incontrol getting destroyed by terran one base timing attacks....one base timing attacks he even anticipated perfectly.

hmm, these maps are great. I didn't really know they were here till I played and got surprised by them. I also saw this video on Reddit, seems like a good way of checking them out

yeah they might not be able to handle lategame. but they still love it.

blizzards assumption of "them noobers love rushing!" is so wrong its hard to imagine how seperated they have to be to actually believe that.

Decent maps. Games will still be decided by spawn positions on Lost Temple and Slag Pits though and there is no fucking way Blizzard can motivate having players start with a handicap based on chance. This alone is proof that the map makers are clueless which is sad as they form the future of this game.

The natural of Backwater Gulch is a nightmare, Blizzard can't expect it to be balanced when Zergs are already struggling.

EDIT: "Shakuras Plateau produced the best games but it didn't have enough rocks and watchtowers so we took it out" is beyond me.

In Slag pits you can warp in units to the gold from an adjacent main base. I just abused it and took out the Zerg's base with it. Feels a bit broken IMO.

I am okay with all of the maps except Slag pits. The map is just ridiculous, and taking a third is so freaking hard it is not even funny.

I would trade any of the new GSL maps with any of these new ladder maps. 2 players mean no luck factor as in for example scouting the opponent last when he is 6 pooling or doing some other cheese. PTR 1.3.0 is amazing though so, it is not all that bad looking at the grand scheme of things.

bobster, at that point no one knew that you cant spawn close positions. and shakuras without the fixed spawns would be indeed terrible.

also people where angry cause of jungle basin which proofed to be even worse then people thought.
