Is this a bug? No, that's normal, most players experiences it for some games at the beginning of every season, till they reach 12/-12 zone again eventually.
Interesting; I don't remember seeing this ever before and I've been playing since beta. Does this mean other people are only being the favored ones?

it happens every season.
they do this to make sure your pts will somewhat equal your MMR faster=> so that higher mmr players will get higher up in the pts scale/ladder faster.
it will say oopponent is favored or slighty depdning how many games you've played; on opponents screen it can say anything from "teams even; to opponent favored; but whatever the screen says; its not correct most the time since MMR / pt system still in the "new season phase for your account"

Very good thread, thanks for the hard work

Wow .. very useful lol how long did it take to you research and write that up? ~~ Thanks !!

I have been number one in bronze for days now, and i still have not played anyone in silver or gold.
I have lost maybe 6 games out of 40 wins....
|
I have been Bronze league since the game came out. I had never played SC before and rather than play single player or vs. computer or even play the practice league ... I skipped all of that and went straight into 1v1.
I obviously got rolled in all placement matches. I have been getting faced up against silvers and golds and winning most of the time, but I stopped playing 1v1 about 2 seasons ago because it isn't even fun anymore. Every game is just a cheese strategy of people trying to climb the ladders.
Custom games are way more fun than ladder anyways, a lot less cheese goes on.

wow amazing, thanks for helping me to understand the leagues and ladder system.

I absolutely despise this system. I wish they'd just tell us where they actually thought we were rather than hiding it. Or at least make it an option you can turn on. I especially love having attainable goals and it's impossible to say, I'll play till I reach this many pts to make diamond. It's, I hope I'm winning enough to make diamond since I can't tell based on the number of points I have.

Anyone know if the leagues are locked? Or does it legitimately take this long to get promoted. Finally started to understand the game a bit better and went on a huge streak at high gold. Playing high plat now, have been for a while. Any ideas on how long it should be for a promo? Here's my match history.

But yay! I'm improving drastically!
Edit: Well, there goes my streak, haha... but I won 19 of 25.
EDIT2: Nevermind, got promoted to high plat just now! Woohoo!

Hey,
so is the Bonus Pool calculation still accurate? Season 6 is running for 6 Weeks and some Days now, so Bonus Pool in diamond should be around 350 points at the moment. When i look at people with 0 wins to calculate my adjusted points, they have 571 bonus Pool... is that the known bug and they did not relog since season beginning or what is that?
Im trying to figure out what i need to do to get promoted...
http://sc2ranks.com/eu/2420465/KroN
Seems im stuck in Diamond forever unless i dominate Masters League and win like 70-80% against masters players and never loose to diamonds which is not possible at the moment
EDIT: got ptomoted! YAAY :D

Known bug - Blizzard website displays all players bonus pool as if they had the same pool as master/GM players.

´The ranking is retarded, a few adys ago i slayed 10 plat players in a row placing me in the #1 spot in my leauge ( in plat) i met a few diamond lost to some win vs some. the thing is to get to diamond you need to beat 10 diamonds in a row without dropping down to under #3rd place. its like you will never loose to a diamond when you are in diamond. SO RETARDED!!!!
|
Sorry if this has been asked, but does GM start today on NA or?

That's not how promotion works. To get promoted you have to consistently play better than the worst diamond league players, consistently meaning well over 50%. Or, you can get promoted at the end of the season.
Note that the league of your opponent doesn't directly tell you what their skill rating is right now, because they may well just not have been demoted yet.

TIL The system wants everyone to have at least 60 adjusted points
Doesn't matter how low is the MMR of your opponent, if you have less than 60 adj. points(I am not sure about the exact number, but it's around 45-75), your opponent will be "favored".
How do I know? A bronze friend of mine get into platinum with his placement matches... he is still platinum, but he is facing bronzes already. He wins and he gets 15 points... against a bronze (a normal bronze, not a "platinum-not yet promoted bronze"!).
That is the explanation of why everyone sees everyone as favored in the beginning of the season, doesn't matter the league/division, nor it matters the opponent MMR! Additionally, it seems the system doesn't like to discount more than 12 points from players, when Blizzard was trying the new system I won against some diamonds (I am plat) and I noticed I won 17 points or something, but they'd lose only 12 points, it seems the system has some interesting internal rules that I didn't know before (it wasn't there in S1 nor S2 for sure, when did they fix the Rank S diamond bug again? it might have started there).
This is important to take note, because that means you can't imply your opponent has "platinum" MMR just because he yielded you 15 points... he is still bronze or whatever, it doesn't matter till you make 60+/- adj. points.... also you can't imply you have diamond MMR just because that diamond player only lost 12 points from you. =(

I don't buy your argument.
The system wants you to have a number of adjusted points that matches your MMR. Multiple players in the same division may have MMRs that range over a few hundred points, and each one will have a different equilibrium point where they get 12 points for wins and losses.

That's old facts my friend. Just stalk some bronze level player at platinum and look for yourself, there isn't much to argument, I am just telling what I saw and the obvious conclusion, I could screenshot for you if you can't find a player like these to stalk...

You need to explain to me what you mean by that. I don't understand.
Edit: OK I re-read your original message and I think I understand better what you're talking about now, and I agree that you probably explained what's going on correctly.
The reason for this is that when a player is in too high a league, since their points can't go any lower than 0 (which corresponds to adjusted points that are way too high for their MMR) they'll get fewer and fewer points for wins and lose more and more points with every game as their MMR drops, since the system thinks their points are too high but the point value can't go any lower. This would limit their ability to use up their bonus points, among other things, and would lead to a discouraging pattern of losing huge numbers of points for a loss but earning very little for a win.
Eventually, the player should be demoted, but until then, assuming it works how you describe, they'd be bouncing around in the low two digits for displayed points.

Is there any way to tell what division tier of diamond I'm in? I was looking on sc2ranks.com and my division is in the top 1/7 in terms of average points. Does this mean anything?
