Hi TLers,
I have a question that's been puzzling me since I started watching Chinese casters for SC2. I'm an ABC, but my Chinese skills are rather weak comparatively to say other ABCs. What does the Protoss race name mean in Chinese?
For example 人族 - renzu means Human race and obviously refers to Terran 虫族-chongzu means Insect race and obviously refers to Zerg
But the Chinese caster calls the Protoss, sen or shenzu. I don't even know the Chinese character or even the pinyin for this. Can someone please clarify? I'm only interested because I like linguistics.
On another note, are there any other interesting translations of SC race names in different languages (besides English transliterations)?

Protoss is 神族 - shenzu (divine race)

Damn, beat me to it. What he said. Second tone, if you're interested. Shén

I really like the name of the Thor : 雷神 Which makes sense because it means thunder god. But it just sounds cool. And Ultralisk: 雷兽 : Thunderbeast :D so cool

Sorry if it's a stupid question, but what do you guys mean with "ABC"?

wow I didn't even notice that. That's friggin dope. Chinese translations all seem pretty cool. What about the Korean ones. It seems a lot of it is transliterated. Btw I love the Chinese for baneling lol, and how all workers are called nongming aka farmers.

Oh, I see. Thanks

Thunderbeast is quite possibly the coolest name for a unit I've ever heard :3

Never understood why zerg look like insects to so many people, what units exactly do you think look like bugs?
