Level Up will be held each week at 8:30 PM EST on Thursdays.
Undeniably Gamer in partnership with RageQuit.tv brings you Level Up! Level Up is a live coaching show hosted by RageQuit.tv's very own Ipp. He will be joined each week by various pro players and coaches who will help you improve your game!
Level up is a wonderful opportunity for players of any league to get help with their game! You'll learn everything from basic macro and build orders to intensive micro management and countering.
All levels are welcome to participate as guests, however, our primary focus is on Silver-Platinum levels. If you are in this range of players, please don't hesitate to sign-up!
The Show will be casted live each week at: http://ragequit.tv
VODs are now available! + Show Spoiler +http://www.undeniablygamer.com/levelup.phpVOD Index:12/23/10 - In todays episode we look into Stevarious's ZvT. It's mainly about keeping an eye on what the Terran composition is and what to do when he attacks. 12/30/10 - We look into EverybodysOP's TvP and discover a mistake any Terran player can make with queuing up units. While it can be good to put on some early pressure it prevents transition and made EverybodysOP lose every late game. EverybodysOP is a gold level Terran player. 01/05/11 - This week we look at Silver level ZvZ. The main topic is getting to the mid game which your opponent will not know how to play giving you the win and satisfaction of not doing an all in. 01/19/11 - Platinum level Protoss, looking for help against Banshee and MM and not knowing when to expand against that mix.
What the students thought: + Show Spoiler +- Had fun being on the receiving end of criticism. Didn't play as well as I wanted to during the session, but the lessons learned are being implemented and I'm taking them to heart when laddering and practicing. Thanks Ipp.
- I don't have the exact stats here but I've gone from like 30-33% win vs. P to something like 48% in a few days, so making progress. Most important I think is I'm just more confident when I see my opponent is P. Promoted to gold today. Thanks Ipp.
How the Show Works:
Welcome and Introduction
Replay Analysis - Two replays of the four submitted will be chosen and reviewed. Ipp will provide live in-depth commentary and coaching on these replays. Live Coaching - One random audience member will be chosen to play against the Student. The student (Not the audience meember) will be given live coaching by Ipp during this match. - The audience member will be chosen at random, but we will keep them near/at the appropriate league level. Replay Summary - The replay of the live game will be uploaded and further in depth analysis and coaching will be given on the match.

Lmao wat? (In response to qxc's post)

Looks sick. I might sign up, but I think thursdays are busy.
@qxc, we can trade skill levels, pretty pretty please ;*)
|
I think Kevin (aka Qxc) should join Ipp for sure! Qxc is awesome. ^^
|
lol <3 QXC! Please pick him!
|
Kinda odd to see qxc bringing up his data here and telling us that he needs help with something... Allmost feels like a fake since he is so good I doubt he really needs coaching^^
|
|
he posted it on his twitter/facebook. and pros aren't so good they don't need coaching, belive it or not, they practice a lot, and still have trouble with specific things. TvP is obviously one of his weak points. I'm sure you also have weak points.

Will post replays as soon as I upload them

I am new to your site and I must say it isn't very user friendly. Or I am just pressing all the wrong buttons. I was trying to find more information about this event on your site and it seems it isn't on the first page of your news section. I have to log in to view the second news page and there aren't any tabs on the top of the screen to jump to different section on your site. There is a navigation tab but it has offers very limited options. You probably have a very good core of viewers but for new users it is really hard to find out what you guys offer.
Anyway, sounds like a pretty cool idea. I might tune in once to check it out.

Oh Johnny I have tons of weak points the biggest probably being my macro;). I just thought it was odd to see qxc be the first to answer this. I havent seen his TvP or even him playing for quiet a while so I couldnt tell;). Cool to see someone like him sign up for this.

VODs will be available for each Show!

I got to do a test run of the show with Ipp as we were working out the details. I'm in Silver (still) here are the two key things I came away with as a Zerg player.
1) Ling Poke; I'm a big proponent of changlings for scouting but until those are available I need to send a link up the ramp more frequently to try and get some understanding of at least what units my opponent has built and thus at least to some extent what they've committed to building as part of their army composition. I was blind countering too much. 2) Know what it takes; that is, if he has 4 zealots and 3 stalkers how many roaches and lings do I need to beat that and not built 20 roaches and 20 lings and impact my drone or tech growth. I know what the counter units are but I didn't know how many units - or at least approximately how many - which is important.
That along with a recommended ZvP build that Ipp gave me before that. I don't have the exact stats here but I've gone from like 30-33% win vs. P to something like 48% in a few days, so making progress. Most important I think is I'm just more confident when I see my opponent is P.

That sounds amazing. How do you decide who is going to be your guest on the show? Also, I'm typically not very bright so I may have missed it but did you say what day/time the show is going to be on?
|
@s.Carter; for guest selection we'll just want to make sure we mix it up by guest race, matchup and level. So maybe a Terran this week who wants to focus on TvP in Gold and then a Protoss next week that wants to focus on PvZ in Platinum, etc.
Show is Thursdays at 8:30 eastern.
|
This sounds like it will be a lot of help for people, even qxc. =P
I was going to see if I would be able to help out, but Thursday's is basically a meeting day for me so that won't happen at all. I'll make sure to catch the VOD's though, thanks for helping out the community bud. =)
|
Really nice idea ipp and UG <3 and I think qxc owes you a guest appearance now after that
|
Still looking for more people to sign-up! Great chance at quality coaching for free!

Haha what?
The shows sounds like a great idea though. I'll try to get a few silver friends to apply and hopefully it'll help em out!

Noted. I (as well as Myrathi, Tom, and Ipp) are all working to make the site as clear cut and easy to use as possible.
This event doesn't have any additional information on our website. It's all present in this thread. Once we add it, it will be present with a news post and an event listing.
Right now, there's also no listing of the events other than via the news posts. That will change soon enough.
You also pointed out a bug on the site - not being able to see the pages of news without being logged in. I'll check that one out, as well.
Thanks for the input!

I really only seem to win against toss if I all-in/rush. If it gets to a macro battle, I only win if I can get it to a 200/200 battle and overwhelm with crazy replenishments. Phoenix are scary, and with the next patch coming, they'll be even more scary.

Update from my prior post (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=174591¤tpage=2#23) promoted to Gold today. Thanks Ipp.

Not that I've signed up (but maybe I should....), but it seems everybody but qxc has forgotten to attach replays. Just a reminder to all applicants.
and at fecalfest, you shouldn't let him get to 200/200, if you're going to fight, you need to be above him in food count. Zerg is known for "weaker, but more" units. So you get more units, but they're generally weaker, if you both are capped at 200/200 (not counting 300 food push), then his army is stronger, because you have the same amount of units as him, but yours are weaker. Have more units in order to take him out, never fight as zerg at 200/200.
|

It's funny because I usually win at 200/200, haha. It's the ability to constantly replenish forces at that stage of the game I think.
|
Replays don't necessarily need to be linked when posting to be selected for the show. We'll request the replays after selection if they are not linked and they can be emailed or posted/linked from somewhere.

Sent PM's to both the chosen guest and the back-up.
If you did not receive a PM, do not worry, simply post here for a change to be on next weeks show!

No you don't have to re-post. We'll keep the list for a couple weeks and then revise the OP when we need people to report. For now if you've posted you're all set.
|
They should totally pick qxc and force him to play minigun or some other high level protoss. If ipp's coaching helps him win imagine all of the new students they would get. Also would be a great way to kick off the show and get a lot of viewers.

To all the people asking about QXC -- I'm hoping to get him on a show in the near future; I tried to pay a high level protoss coach his hourly rate to come on but since UG does coaching and they do coaching it was a "conflict of interest" for them.
I'm new to coaching; starting low level where I can actually give advise, I'd be wasting an hour of Qxc's time.
And holy check, its a featured event.

looks good maybe ill get a few people to post here. I know a few that needs some help. good idea tho

In an attempt to create incentive for you to choose me as a guest, I would like to point out that I am a very new zerg player (~20 games played), so the flaws I have in my play are likely to be quite diverse which would broaden the effectiveness of the coaching to the viewers watching.

I don't understand how to play ZvZ. I'm not very aggressive, I get beaten by early pressure, or mutas at random times. I don't get how to scout, when to scout, what units to go. I would first like to state that I am very motivated be becoming a good, analyzing, diamond player. My problem is I really need help with just knowing what to look for during a game and how to properly be able to prepare and execute my builds in response to what my opponent is doing. I watch day 9 and alot of other casters and I understand what they are saying, however, I just need someone at my shoulder during a match to point out the things I miss and to make me more aware to the game at hand.

When you get the VOD's please have links in the OP.

Ever think I shy away from doing analytical casts because when casting up to 20 games a day the analysis gets a bit dry? There are only 9 match ups so no matter what atleast 11% of my games will have to same opener for the first 5 minutes. However as player per race is not balanced it would be more like 25-30%. Even Day9 is taking a step back from doing analysis every single day with his dailies and just having fun. Everyone who has been on the show has benefited, additionally it is free coaching that is being streamed with ~700+ people watching it so obviously its free entertainment/help; so I don't really see why you are insulting a person whom is trying to help the community out.
Also are you blind? You seem to have missed the diamond on either the US or EU server, I assume you watched some of a cast because of your above comment. However if you have some excuse for that let me direct your attention over to exhibit B + Show Spoiler +

Though I'd say one of my biggest problems is just keeping my money down in the late game once I'm on 3-4 bases. Sometimes if I'm going something gas heavy like Templar, I'll get an extra base for the gas but end up with like 3k minerals or something ridiculous.

VOD Index:
12/23/10 - In todays episode we look into Stevarious's ZvT.
