At this point most players have been playing for about a year (including beta), at this point your background doesn't really matter. I hate making this point but if Flash or jaedong or bisu were to switch they would almost instantly become high end players. Grubby switches and he is 0-4 in Nasl, i know there is no proof that they would be high end players but i believe it would be so. Also you even said it, you can manage 3 bases quite well, but when it comes to 5 bases it gets really hard, this is a skill that someone who has played bw for 10 years will have over a wc3 player. But war3 players most likely will have better micro and strategy's, its a trade and in the beginning i would take mechanics over micro and strategy. Except nothing you just said made any sense. You realize Grubby has been playing Starcraft II since like November at the earliest right? He took second place at WCG Grand Finals in October, so no, not all of them have been playing for a year. Horrible example to use. All the best foreign players come from a Warcraft III background and with the exception of a few guys like Idra and Select you can't even argue against that. Most of the good Korean RTS players played Brood War anyways. Guys like Lucifer, Moon, Remind, Focus, and Fov are the only high end Korean Warcraft III players that come to mind and only two of them are playing and both of them were still playing Warcraft III into late October. One has a GSL Code S round of 8 appearance and one is 3-1 in their NASL group (which apparently holds some relevance since you brought it up). I have no idea what this has to do with Nony or what he said cause I don't even know what he said then and what he said now but all I see is you trying to argue that Brood War players > Warcraft III players. And please, let's not pretend that mechanics are actually important in Starcraft II when you have MBS and automine doing that for you. Oh and, Bisu Flash Jaedong Stork etc. will never switch so it doesn't matter what'd they do in Starcraft II. edit: Grubby also played at the ECL Masters in January 2011 for Warcraft III. So even if he started playing Starcraft II after WCG he was only focusing half of his attention on it. About Grubby was exactly his point... If Flash Jaedong and Bisu would switch they would be good almost instantly while wc3 players like Grubby need more time to adjust because there is a lot of differences between the game. And saying mechanics aren't important isn't true I've yet to see any pro with perfect macro or even close to it while also micro'ing.
I can't even comprehend what you are trying to say as it appears all you did was strengthen my argument. Grubby has been focusing his attention solely on Starcraft II (if he even is; the last time this was talked about he said he was going to be a hybrid player) for five months at the most, yet he goes out to Copenhagen Games and grabs a third place finish over guys like Morrow and Ret (former Brood War pros). I would hope Flash and friends could succeed right away in Starcraft II as all it is is a dumbed down version of Brood War. He is saying he would rather have a Brood War background than a Warcraft III background for Starcraft II because of mechanics but they aren't anywhere near as important as they were in Brood War and don't even try to argue that.
Plus I don't think you actually read what he said about Grubby. He said there are no longer Brood War players and Warcraft III players; they are all Starcraft II players because everyone has been playing the game for over a year now. But guess what? Grubby hasn't. So using his results (while leaving out a top 3 finish) to prove his point wasn't exactly all that persuading.

I was just explaining his argument I wasn't trying to argue with you ^^.
and I agree mechanics aren't as important as in brood war but they're still a big part of starcraft I reguraly see pro's bank resources when they aren't even maxed so there is still a lot to improve in that department. anyway I wont go off topic anymore this is not the place for it pm me if you wanna respond to me.

If TSL loses to fOu im going to break a board over my head.
|
SC will all-kill Jyp, Revival, Puma and then the TSL coach will realize he has dug himself into a hole again and send Sangho or Tester and they will also lose to SC
|
I could see that happening it's ok, as long as we get to see DRG rape faces I'll be happy.
Btw, did anyone else remember that Marty used to hype up inca?? And now he made a gsl final!!! Everyone Marty hypes ends up successful, so be prepared to watch DRG tear it up

I want to hear a full episode on theMarty's link.
It's not that I don't respect your expert opinions on players (except for Haypro and Torch and except I really don't), but I really respect your expert wisdom on women and the things they do.

Ok, you guys need to do another episode soon, so much going on!!
+ Show Spoiler +DRG is awesome, (as well as Guinepig... RANDOM PRIDE )
The biggest thing I've heard yet is here
http://www.majorleaguegaming.com/news/mlg-and-the-gsl-create-groundbreaking-player-exchange-program
check it out!
The winner of MLG is seeded directly into GSL code freaking S!!! And Koreans are invited to MLG.
The first thing I thought of is someone like DongRaeGu coming to MLG, winning it (undefeated of course) and fast-tracking into code S. It would take 3 days (ok maybe a week round trip from Korea) to come to MLG, win and return as a seeded code S player!!
Will we see a massive influx of Korean hopefuls? Time will tell, but I think it's an amazing opportunity, and it makes me INFINITELY more interested in MLG's from now on + Show Spoiler +as long as they get their ducks in a row with stream quality
I'm so stoked for this it's ridiculous!
