Hey TL,
I don't know if any of you have noticed this graphical issue (or possible easter egg), but sometimes when playing a game or a replay the standard map has something drawn on it. At first I thought they were unloaded textures, but they seemed way too deliberate to be a graphical hitch.
This has happened while watching a replay on Blistering Sands. The Xel'naga Tower cliffs were covered in some white and red design. This also happened during a game on Lost Temple. I swear what I thought was a marine face could be seen at the natural expansions. I would have a screenshot, but when I went back to view the replay it was gone (and similarly when I re-viewed the replay on Blistering Sands).
Has anyone experienced this or have a screenshot of it? Is this a graphical issue or perhaps an easter egg that is randomly generated by Blizzard?

i have no idea what your talking about, sorry.

I am not sure how this happens, but my computer has random graphical glitches too, and on one, I had a Pylon Icon drawn on the floor... random icons from in the game files seem to get spread throughout the map during those glitches.
Not an easter egg, just a messed up glitch from the game files.

If I'm understanding you correct, this is just your graphics card malfunctioning. It happens occasionally with my ATI card where some terrain textures get randomly replaced with unit textures.
|
The fact that it doesn't happen again when I reload the replay gets me thinking its a graphical glitch. Although it has happened both with NVIDIA and ATI cards on my part.
On the bright side they seem to make very artsy additions to the maps sometimes. =)

I had a similar experience too. I played on Xel'Naga Caverns once, and the ground was green. It didn't look like a graphical glitch so I thought the game was patched or something.

The glitch happened on Twilight Fortress. Also, I was playing with my roommate and he did not see these designs. I managed to get a couple screenshots. Tell me what you guys think.

How is this an easter egg? Looks like your video card is freaking out.
|
This happens when your video card is overheating/overclocked too high/dying. If you're OC'ing it go back to stock clocks or at least dial it down some. If you're having a heat wave in your geography then tough it out. If it's always hot in your area then try to cool it down more. If it's not hot or OC'd then start planning on buying a new card.
