In Firefox, I went to Tools -> Add-ons and disabled Octoshape. Yet for some reason, I am still able to watch Octoshape streams =/.
Do any of you guys know what the deal behind that is? Is Octoshape still running? Just uninstall it completely from your computer if you want to get rid of it. Octoshape has some features which let it override your "settings" (it made me hear the sound of ads while I had turned off the sound of the stream I had running in the background). Better safe than sorry ...

Oh ok, thanks for that >_<. At first I didn't notice it was in the taskbar because non of the icons looked out of the ordinary, but then I took a closer look and realised that the Octoshape icon was indeed there. Hopefully this'll fix the problem :p.

My Avira antivirus went mental on this last night, now i can't use it because apparently it's a virus

Are you guys kidding me? Octoshape is very innovative, and you should cheer it on for that - It utilizes connections from other users, in order to bring better quality than ever before!

I was real leery of DL any plugin I didn't know but I really wanted to watch the comp. so I did. First rule broke was it not shutting off. Second rule broke was starting up with my computer without giving any indication. Final straw was a .dll of Octoshape's setting of my antivirus every few minutes. Needless to say it is gone and I'll just watch replays next time.

Which would be cool if the quality of the ESL stream was any better then any ustream stream, which it is not.

Not every bit of new technology is actually better than the old stuff. For most of the new stuff the market (Apple is VERY GOOD at this) has to be created first, before it actually becomes "needed".

When I first heard that mlg was using octoshape I was angry because I assumed that I wouldn't be able to get it to work. Shit like this tends not to work for me.
However when I discovered there was a linux client, and that it worked perfectly and the quality if the stream was decent, and not only did it work, it ran in a native video player instead of flash which violates my cpu, it completely flipped my opinion of the situation. It is quite literally better than flash for me. I can even run the octoshape plugin as an unprivileged user so I don't even have to worry about it fucking with my system.
So yeah, my opinion is totally changed and I will be an avid mlg viewer in the future because of it.

What video player did you use? VLC? ive been trying to run streams in VLC, but with no luck so far

I used mplayer on linux. I've heard vlc works too for most people, but I honestly don't use it myself. I know the octoshape plugin attempts to launch mplayer itself (but it fails due to bad flags).
