Good show so far otherwise.
edit; stephano so funny, need him on as much as possible. I can't think of a more pointless person to have on SOTG than Stephano. Sure, he was funny for a one off interview, but he said nothing of any interest or solidity about anything. Even his comments on the game were vague and / or lies. Sure, he doesn't know any timings and just randomly chooses what to do on the fly. What utter BS.
You must have tried to not listen to Stephano because of your obvious disgust. He discussed the most brilliant and unemotional analysis of the state of PvZ we've heard of any pro player in the spotlight up to this date.

See it as a rap battle, you got an idra who writes everything he's gonna say and it's gonna sound nice and do some damage... he will beat all the lesser competition hard. Now you got a stephano who has some premeditated things of course, but he mainly relies on listening to the opponent and flipping his lines, making them hit a lot harder.
Rts is no different, the good players like idra have everything pre planned and make some minor adjustments in game here and there, but that's it. The absolute top like an mkp/stephano etc just go with the flow and are constantly adjusting to the situation and looking for chances (mistakes from the opponent, openings in the opponents game plan).

So when is the next episode? We need to alert Day[9]

Come off it, he will know scout timings, and build 'tells' for all races so he can react properly. He'll have reactions to everything he scouts thought out and worked out with his practice buddies. Yes, he'll decide what to do 'on the fly' in the same way MC does, but if you honestly believe he just 'goes with the flow' and makes shit up you're being naive.
He stated the reason he lost to Polt at Assembly Winter previously was that it wasn't a build he knew how to deal with. Polt did the same thing every game and Stephano didn't have an answer because he hadn't practiced for it at all.

On the video aspect, i don't care the much on the video production since this show is about people talking starcraft, nonetheless watching it is really fun too, but there is some obvious issues : - The overlay : JP is sticks with that horrible gradient since they left/split up with MLG. He should just organize some kind of contest on TL/twitter/reddit, i pretty sure that a lot of people will enjoy giving him a nice overlay for his show. - The webcams : I can live without seing someone's face, but i'm sure that a lot of people are annoyed by these webcams freezing randomly all along the show; well here i cant think of a solution because the problem is clearly due to skype and it will probably stay as it is. Maybe another better webcam-client exists, so if anyone knows...
I think the google Plus hang out would work nicely. It is tailored exactly to this Type pd Situation. Not the best quality though.

Shameless plugging from Barrin...
It definitely deserves to be at least mentioned, though, if not given solid discussion.

I mean we all know the basic number of mineral patches but we've already seen tournaments like gsl test around with different numbers which didnt quite work out. However if we take this idea and put it on an entire map i can see alot of new interesting strategy submerge.

Yeah, it would be great to get some discussion on Fewer Resources per Base on SotG.

I'm very interested in hearing what the SotG crew thinks about Barrin's idea. All the information for a good discussion is in his thread, so hopefully they have the time to go through some of his arguments for decreasing the number of mineral patches per base. JP, MAKE THEM READ THE THREAD!

So if I understand correctly you play SC2? and because Stephano doesn't agree with how you think and play he is obviously good enough to be on sotg. Cause he might talk about something that you disagree with? Your the 1% in this situation and who honestly likes the 1%. He is popular and a hot topic the boy wins everything he touches for the most part. He is the most successful Foreigner to date. Listen and maybe you will learn something because what he does works.

Just want to throw in my 2 cents and support Barrin. The ideas and philosophy he shares in these maps have made a huge impact on how myself and many others view the nature of Starcraft 2, and I think talking it over with the State of the Game crew would help get discussion going about what goes into having a fun, entertaining game and esport. I highly recommend that JP and include it in a show.
|
breadth of gameplay discussion, make it happen JP, specifically the 6 mineral node (with 2000 minerals on each) and 2 gas per base maps. its VERY worth at least talking about.
|
Yeah I do feel that 6 minerals provides a much more skilled game for pro's to play and almost feels BW-esque (even though that is not the goal it is trying to accomplish, it is just a movement to make SC2 less boring). The dynamics that it brings to the game are well worth pushing the current 8 mineral and 2 gas system out the door, and the best part is that it can be accomplished for the most part without blizzard (we jsut need them to adopt it on ladder after it catches on).
|
Please take a look at the 6m movement! This might bring back so many strengths BW had that SC2 struggles with.
|
This idea sparked the hope in me to regain interest in SC2. I really would like to see an in-depth discussion on this. May be you might even get Barrin on the stream ?!?
Regards!

Don't feel any shame. You spent a lot of time on that thread and it was a solid read. It should at least be talked about, if not tested by pros.

honestly though this movement has potential, and i really want to see it at least get a shot at going through for esports ofc
