I haven't watched enough Lucifron to say if he's good or bad, but his builds going into the game definitively seemed like a bad move to me.

A 2 rax and reactor hellion opening for the 2 games? I'm sure DRG has never seen those before and practiced exactly what to do... I haven't watched enough Lucifron to say if he's good or bad, but his builds going into the game definitively seemed like a bad move to me. Why is opening up standard a bad move? If that's where a player plays his best then it is the best move. Standard is standard for that exact reason. It doesn't rely on gimmicks. It's purely how you play. Sure he could have gone for some gimmicky opening in order to try throw DRG off and gain an advantage that way but to say you have to be "different" in order to beat a player like DRG isn't really true. You just have to be up to his level in the standard.

His builds were fine, but he got put behind early in both games by not doing what the builds are meant to do. 2 rax is meant to force lings or to kill the natural hatch, not to lose marines, scvs and bunkers for free. Watch Nada for how to excecute fake 2 rax and Marineking/SC for aggressive 2 rax. Reactor hellions are great for map control but if you ever lose the hellions without destroying a considerable amount of drones, then you are very far behind. Watch MVP vs DRG for the perfect use of hellions.

At the moment they played, I'd agree Lucifron would have had a better chance of winning if he used more unorthodox builds.

This was said in the group selections for the next GSL. Basically Polt said that Terran is an easy race to play, and thats why there are so many of them in the GSL.

You probably have a good politican point of view, but you lack understanding of the game. If your good enough as terran you can definitely play very solid. You dont need to cheese. If you open reactor hellions and your better than your opponent you can win, its as simply as that.

It's still a comment on balance, which isn't allowed in live report threads. It's not a statistic, either. It's not even a fact. It's an exaggeration of a trend. It wouldn't be appropriate even if the thread in which it appeared was about balance.

DRG is the better player, clearly, but Lucifron just didn't play the kind of Starcraft I've come to know him for. Really disappointing. ![]()

A lot of people choke when they play against someone they know is undoubtedly better than them.

have you ever considered pursuing having Morrow as a guest on the show? He could fill both T/Z gaps for a balanced discussion, and since he may have one of the best zvp in the world maybe he can teach the protoss a thing or two. although the time zone difference sucks
