Has anyone noticed drones nom nom noming minerals in UI portrait?. I laughed so hard when I first saw it. In-game model of rollin banelings are also a cute bunch.
Aren't they so cute!
Though I find zerg untis in SC2 rather quiet and they aren't scawey and creepy anymore.
No more eyeball from SC1, no more harsh metallic voice of overmind. no more chirping zerg uints! no more gritty atmosphere!
I know there is technical limit for 3d games to express things and there has to be difference between style of 2d sprites and 3d rendring but why not make sound more exciting for zerg in SC2? What do I mean by exciting? I don't know.
MAN, I already feel nostagic for old zerg.
P.S: I noticed that sound sample similiar to spire structure from sc1 is in one of SC2 zerg BGM.

I find mutalisks cute in the lack of harass they can do compared to mutalisks in starcraft 1. Ultralisks in sc2 are much scarier than ultralisks in sc1 though...

I want to talk about protoss of SC2.
I don't find them exotic anymore because they have become too talkative! they just talk like humies and tehy feel like draenei from WoW.
I may sound like complaining but I m just telling how I felt about sc2 while comparing it to sc1.

lings = meh... speed lings on creep move crazy fast, i suppose their legs moving that fast is cute
roaches = fat, fat things are naturally cute
hydras = FAT compared ot sc1, thus, cuter
ultralisks running = cutest.

I agree, I would definitely buy a probe plushy, they are adorable. I think the main reason that I play Protoss is because I want to protect all of the little probes from harm, I know they're robots but it doesn't matter.

To be honest they've always been cute. Zerglings hopping around like little bunnies in the original and be honest, who doesn't want a flying crab?

They look a little cute perhaps... until your Ultra cuts those marines into gory pieces.
Also I really REALLY love the Zerg sound effects, they're downright nasty with all the plopping and splatting noises.

Yeah, when I looked at lings in SC1, they looked like little killing machines, but now, they look like a small bug u want to squish. And mutas, they looked terrifying and badass in SC1, but now, they look like paper kites, and die like them too. And corruptors are so much worse than devourers. Devourers just look totally awesome. Only unit that got scarier is the ultralisk. Heck, even the queen was better looking. Not as useful, but better looking

But the Zerg in SC1 looked more like funky animals than "menacing killing machines".
Apart from the lurker its hard to take any of them seriously as a threat. Look at the ling, the ultra, the queen or the muta. It's more bizarre and... sad... than threatening.
The SC2 Overlord is very adorable, though, especially when you ask 20 of them to stand by the same building.

I have to admit I was somewhat fond of the early alpha Zerglings with the fluttery wings. They reminded me of a swarm of locusts. I also must say that when I first saw Speedlings on creep (In that Blizzcon 2v2 video, I think) I was assured that this was the awesomest thing ever.
Anyway, I have no idea how anybody can say Zerglings looked more threatening in Brood War. Or more anything, really. Seriously, that was a little ball of pixels if it was anything. And what's worse, the cinematics had Zerglings be some kind of stick figure with a Hydralisk head or something. I spent twelve years not having the slightest clue what a Zergling should look like.
Rolling Banelings are adorable though. This much I cannot deny.

well the cuteness is proof that zerg was done half assed cos units like the corruptor and roach are pretty ugly, whereas infestor, drone, lings, blings ar all rolly polly cute

My main concern with the cosmetics of the game is the sound. Its just not memorable at all. The roar of ultras hitting shit and the fast clunk clunk of cracklings killing a Nexus is just not there anymore. I wish the sounds were cooler but w.e.

I also feel like marauders have a chubby cartoonish thing going on. But I still think no SC2 unit is cuter than the Reebuuuhhhrrr.

Hydralisks are curled up when you unload them from an overlord and they uncurl when they hit the ground. Like cats. So cute.

Their walking, poking, rooting animations are all quite funny and cute imo.

it's a million times better than the early build.
i kinda liked the sc1 zerg sounds, where the buildings sounded like someone clearing their bowells and hydralisks gobbing.
but i prefer the animations in sc2. the roach especially has a very 'creepy' running animation where the limbs twitch like a real insect. the swarming attack formation of zerglings is also amazing.

It's not just their physique that makes them cute. Even their voices make them cute. The first time I heard Roaches I was WTH? ^-^!
Zerg are a shadow of their former selves but in game only. Zerg in the cut scenes are a magnitude better and more frightening than the Zerg in the brood war cutscenes.

They're cute because they don't attack the Terran army like the zerg of bw, they just run up to hug and tickle them. A couple might die due to accidentally getting caught on their spines, but it's really pretty safe.
