Whether in-game or by email or whatever. The player only has one account. Wait, so there is only one account per SC2 copy? So if you have brothers you will all have to use the same user name?
Can someone confirm?

As far as I understand, yes. If your brothers and yourself wanted to play, you either have to play all on the same account, or buy multiple copies of the game.

Worse than that, since there is only 1 account, and only 1 ladder placement per account, you can't have different ladders for the different races like people have asked for since the beta started.
This means that if you are Diamond with Terran, and Silver with zerg, you pretty much have to either smurf your account so you can play with people your level on zerg, or get slaughtered whenever you want to play zerg in diamond. I'm sure Frank Pearce would advise to just buy 3 accounts so you can have different ladders.

It's just no difference like we used phone to communicate with others around the world, and now they wanna shut it down for some uncommon-sense reasons, i think they just want to earn more money! What say if the hand phone were down for all of them for the same reason they made for us? Does that make sense to them too?

To the hell with the @rses of Blizzard executives, I am from China and studying in Singapore now AND I will go to US for my uni..so i nid to buy at least 2 SC2??????F^CK!

I wonder if they understand the difference between an RTS game and RPG/MMO game. Its not like we have characters with experience or items or anything. There is no point to limiting accounts. We don't have "servers" or "regions". We're RTS players ffs. There are no permanent attachments. We join a game, pwn, and leave. Not much money or "value add" they can suck from that.
This is highly entertaining. Please keep everyone who isn't/won't be playing the beta or game updates on these nuggets.

The problem is that Activision cares exclusively about money, and I doubt Blizzard is in a position to disagree with them if they even want to. The only way to convince Activision to do anything is to hurt their bottom line, and hurt it significantly. I doubt anything short of an international boycott could change their minds on a lot of these issues.

I'm surprised that a large amount of issues are solved by "buying another copy of the game".

Do people realize that SC2's bnet is slowly taking a similar to WoW? Before I quit WoW, they implemented a random H Daily system where you can be matched up with any random person cross servers. They did it so it's easier to just find a quick instance. But.. when they implemented it, it was easier to get things done, but... that's not the point. You just randomly get thrown into an instance with people, and these ppl never even talk to each other. Everyone just goes and does their thing, instance ends, and no one has said a single word during the entire instance. I never felt so lonely running a daily.
SC Bnet2.0 feels the exact same. Blizzard is just throwing me into a random game with people I don't know or even have said hi to play the UMS or custom melee game. Barely say anything to each other, and the game is over. The state of Bnet 2.0 is just so isolated and no communication to strangers ever happen. Just like what has happened to WoW over the years.
I made so many friends from SC1, it would not have been possible without chat rooms, custom games, etc. Imagine if WoW had no chat. It would be the end of the game.

the difference is, you could have done it the old way as well. instead of you having the choice, they are forcing all of these changes on you in bnet2.0

well guess the beta week will be my last sc2 week then for quite some time then till sc2 costs about ten bucks or blizzard totally wraped their head around these obvious mistakes by the management.

Then what is group chat, please do share? We already have group chat ffs - invite some people to a party, there's a group chat.
A chat channel is like an IRC channel, you type in the name and you join it. THAT'S IT. It can be private, it can be public, whatever. It's persistent, and most of the time anyone can join without being invited.

Im not going to buy Starcraft 2 if its going to be like this. No chat rooms, just one account, u can not name your own personal game, no password for private games, single player only terran first, not able to play with players all over the world (come on, its the internet. thats the good thing about it) etc.
This game is only designed to make money. Thats it. Nothing more.
Look at Modern Warefare 2. Activision really screwed that game over. Just go to amazon.com and see the customer reviews for the pc version. Its ridiculous. Now they are doing it with Starcraft 2.

time to move back to sc1, nothing more to add..

yup... way to run your company into the ground.

That's obviously not the groups they speak of implementing, that's party chat something we already have. Dustin is talking about them being based on social structures etc, so that facebook thing sounds very reasonable with the recent intergration and all. But effectively that would be custom chat channels would it not?
But if it's "SC2 swe - 32" you want then I suppose you're out of luck. I won't miss it for a second though.

You know what the stupid part of all this is?
I already pre-ordered my copy of sc2 from gamestop because I thought b.net 2.0 would be good. (Or at least, that it wouldn't be this fuckin shitty)
It's like they pulled all this crap on us in the last week of beta, what the heck blizzard?
|
Starcraft 2 is a great game but Battle Net 2.0 is rubbish/trash/garbage. Removing LAN and chat channels is one thing but cross region play? It shouldn't be too hard to let you play on different gateways like in Warcraft 3 but they force you to buy another copy 3 of Starcraft 2 just to play on different regions? =_="

Also LAN is so 1980s. Either buy the game or don't buy it.. but I seriously doubt whining will help. Dustin is that you? Didn't I tell you to stop forum trolling and start actually working on the game?
