At least this way it will be negotiations between Korean companies, so there will be less cultural/corporate barriers and a reasonable outcome is more likely.

How is it more of a monopoly than KeSPA controlling everything in Korea? Also there are other e-sports games other than Blizzard titles so I don't see how it is a monopoly. Starcraft is their own god damn game that they can do whatever they want with.

Would you feed your baby poison, and if s/he doesn't survive and just go, oh, I guess it was never meant to be. That was a totally exaggerated example, but you get my point. I hope this whole mess have no bearing on the players themselves. I wouldn't want their primes to be wasted over corporate squabbles. thanks but i have actually spent 2/3 of my life playing online games. So please dont insult me by telling me how much it means to people as if im some chump who doesn't care What im trying to say is starcraft needs to grow faster or it will be forgotten. Of course esports will take decades to become mainstream, but starcraft will be gone by then, unless it gets an overhaul NOW.

Kespa has no monopoly it is an organisation. Not a company. Kespa is speaking on behalf of the actors involved in pro gaming. Don't you get it ? When blizzard says go fuck yourself, it's not to Kespa, it's to every single korean sc pro gamer. Basically, the money Blizzard is asking, are the pro gamer's salaries.

Eh, you're sending the message of apathy when you say that it might as well be dead. Obviously, I don't know you personally, and only have a few lines to base your train of thoughts on. If I insulted you, I apologize. However, I would have to disagree that this overhaul is good for E-Sports. Reeling from the betting scandal, it has already entered the danger zone. To have a foreign source (Blizzard) support GOM which is far from a channel dedicated to gaming influence over SC1 is just backhanding what was already established with much toil. I'm not saying Blizzard should have influence. I'm all for Blizzard expanding on with SC2 and open a new market for that, but just don't mess with SC1.

Not to mention possible rivalries between the designers that left blizzard and the new ones.

GOM should immediately sell their rights and leave broadcasting to the pros. Oh yeah and OSL/MSL dont bother me with something silly like a free stream. Searching for an unofficial stream with tons of lag is part of the experience. I dont care if i miss half of the action, theres still nevakes channel on youtube to watch the vods. PLAAGUEEEEEE!!!

Well, I'm done with them. It's not like they do good games any-more. BTW, lol at the poll. So many people that don't give a *&%$ about BW progaming in a BW-progaming site.

The good news for foreigners is that they will provide an english stream. If they arrange it the same way as the last season of GomTV. Then there will be a free version and a paid version. Free viewers will have access to a 320*240 stream and LQ vods after a 3 day delay. Members will have access to a 640*480 stream and HQ vods with a DRM download option asap. I remember that they charged $50 for premium in the last season of GOM Starleague.

How funny. Less brainwashing please. What did OGN or MBC ever asked for ? Did you pay a single cent to watch any of their finals ?

I think you are really confused if you actually believe that Blizzard is after Flash's salary. It is in Blizzard's best interest that e-sports grow in Korea and elsewhere as much as possible. In viewers, salaries, teams etc. KeSPA doesn't give a shit about anything outside of Korea, hell, they don't want any E-Sports outside of Korea because that would undermine the control they once had. They have done their best to keep foreign Starcraft fans out for a long time.

GomTV will only be able to run GomTV starleague, there won't be a pro league participating. So instead of having players live in team houses, SC2 players will live at home practicing with no steady income to pay for food and rent. They'll fight for the 40k prize money offered every 3 months. There are so many people who think that conditions for progamers will improve if Blizzard is in charge. They wrong, conditions will only improve if there are esports dollars. That money will have to come from the huge corporate sponsors or the audience. Unfortunately, esports fans have a history of not being willing to pay for esports so no revenue can be generated through ticket sales. The good news for foreigners is that they will provide an english stream. If they arrange it the same way as the last season of GomTV. Then there will be a free version and a paid version. Even though there's an English stream, there won't be any progamers to make the games, and the resolution of the streams are awful in the English streams. I was planning on playing SC2 for the UMS's/single player (and BW for serious laddering), but not anymore. That's -1 sale for SC2, I suppose.

The fact that you hold Kespa responsible for "not advancing the Starcraft scene fast enough" leads me to believe that you haven't really done your research on the nuances of how the eSports scene functions in Korea. Give me a side-by-side comparison. Show me how Kespa has failed to do what you hold them responsible for and how Gom TV/Blizzard would do things differently to make this happen. You think just because the monopoly is passed onto a different entity (an entity who has NO EXPERIENCE whatsoever with running a commercially viable eSports scene), everything will just magically fall into place? Do you even realize how much work it took for progaming to develop as much as it has already? I mean damn, I dislike Kespa as much as the next guy, but I at least trust them enough to keep things running. Did I miss the memo where Blizzard and Gom spontaneously caught up on 10 years worth of experience that make them more qualified to leave in charge?

blizzard seems like one of those people that hug others until they suffocate. They wanna be involved in esports so badly they are willing to kill esports to be a part of it, if that makes sense.
