Frenzy is going to be so ridiculously overpowered. It looks as if they've added NO downsides to it? In WC3 it increased attack speed but increased incoming damage by 25% or something, which balanced it out. At 25 energy you can frenzy such a large amount of your army too... Also, I would have preferred if they kept the patch notes to themselves until they decided to release the patch, I'm left wondering when it's going to come out :\

The sad part is it's even more than 25%. Actually it's 50%. Where previously you would have to shoot, for example, 12 seconds, now you only have to shoot 9 seconds with the same damage output. That makes it 50% faster than before.
I quite agree that instead of a damage boost, ultras seem to need a more "tankish" feel in my eyes. As of now they are huge and always seem to get cluttered moving up an down the front lines and dying before actually doing damage.
The 2 other comparable units, Thor and Colossus, have similiar health pools with ranged attacks. Thor losing 50 health with range 7/11 and Colossus losing 100 health for a range of 9. Theres a reason ALL other melee units have more health per minerals than ranged units. 4 Zerglings=140 health/100 mins 2 Marines =90 health/100 mins 1 Zealot =150 health/100 mins
I could go on with Hydras, Tanks, and roaches, but I think it's intuitive, that the less range you have, the more health you should have.
There is also no good way to heal a wounded Ultra, except building queens for healing(which isnt't to effective). I thinks that's always a viable concern with units that have a large health pools. The Thor can be repaired, and a colossus will at least regain 150 shield after damaged. If your "tanks" are down to 20 Life, and are blocking 18 Supply and will insta die in the next attack, that's not pretty. Makes retreating even more costly, coz any wounded ultra needs like 5 minutes to get back to full health.
Further, the Thor needs no upgrade, and Colossus needs 1 upgrade to really shine, whereas the ultra needs 2 upgrades to be . . .well, still useless =)
The weak ultra really is bugging me (besides the cutting of my favourite unit the lurker^^) since beta started. . . well, we have to see how the patch plays out. Maybe they hit the spot this time.
PS: Did anyone notice that it's strange that they nerfed 250mm cannon and Neural Parasite and STILL create a new spell that makes the ultra immune to those effects? I think the frenzy spell alone would have sufficed without those nerfs. Its also a more elegant solution creating a skillful new ability to complement to units and reward skill, than nerfing 2 good spells at the time for 1 underused unit.

On the Patch:
Looks like we have more Terrible, Terrible Damage. Also, we have some awesome new spells to play around with.
Specific notes re:Terrible, Terrible Damage are as follows. Ultra: 15 + 25 to armored AOE. Definitely T,TD. Frenzy: Will cause things to do even more T,TD. Banelings with Frenzy: Just plain awesome. Fully upped vs. fully upped or completely unupped vs. completely unupped, they will kill marines in one shot. Totally unupgraded, two with frenzy will kill hydras. Good times.

Blizzard is not the same who balanced bw. Some of these changes are completely retarded.
The problem with ultralisk was that it was too hard to get it up close without dieing. It was allready a massive unit, so it wouldnt get slowed by anything. Blizzard now nerfed hp, and buffed dmg, this only means it can get kited and killed even easier by marauders. The problem was never its damage, its damange was great, and 450 hp is only gonna screw it over even more. The problem was getting all the upgrades that you NEED before you get em, and then they cost shitloads of gass. One of their +armor or speed should be by default, that would help them more then anything.

Seriously, overreaction central. Other races were buffed, yours received -1 range on a unit, and a change to FF that will only affect PvZ (Thor in PvT? lol) IF they actually make some shitty 450 hp ultras that cost 300/200 and 6 supply. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
