Day9- Totalbiscuit Asap please.
I'm not sure how he is better than DApollo, I listened to his stream and haven't seen anything special. His commentary is really bad. His commentary might work for casual players, but really not for stream with 20k viewers.
Remember when caster with zero knowledge (Gunrun) gets paired with day9? God that was so painful to watch. When casting alone you can blab whatever nonsense you want. You can't do it when theres veteran player with 11 years of experience sitting near you.
A couple of people do seem to getting a little too aggressive.
I think folks do need to realise that there are choices out there to listen to. They are free to listen to whichever caster they wish, TL is more likely to listen to high-level analytical casters, more casual players, who make up the majority of the playerbase, will watch play-by-play casters.
Apparently a lack of understanding of this concept of personal preference and subjectivity is a cause for flames? *shrug*, hell if I know why. I just don't see the need for heated arguments over it when we all want the same thing in the end anyway.
Noooo, dont pair him with day9, that would completely defeat the point of his commentary being 100% accessible and exciting. Im a big day9 fan, but I have to admit, it was just straight up more fun watching the games TotalBiscuit casted.
And even though he doesnt have the indepth knowledge that day9 has, he doesnt show it by spouting nonsense, he just talks about what is currently happening, and this is a perfectly valid style of commentary. (you dont hear football(UK) commentators guessing who the ball is going to be played to constantly, they just commentate where it is and what the players are doing with it)
The worst thing you guys can do is post negative feedback because of your 'casting alleigance' and run the risk of putting TB off sc2 commentary, because esports will only get better with him on board.
also wtf: TB? 6000 viewers were everybody was talking about how much they enjoyed you, 2 pages of praise in this thread and you post that, the hell man -__-
loved totalbiscuit, really fun and different form other casters who try to do too much analisis of the game without having the knowledge, TB should do commentary of grudge showmatches and that kinda stuff.

If that's their aim it will singularly fail. Whatever the case, I'm the first to admit that I need more knowledge. Doing tournaments like this is helping an awful lot in that respect but the overall style of casting isn't going to change. There'll be less outright, blatant incorrect calls, but if you don't like my style of casting now, you won't like it later on either. And y'know what? That's totally fine, different strokes for different folks.
As regards to pairing up a play-by-play with an analytical commentator. There is a reason this is done in professional sports and has been an established way of doing things for several decades in broadcasting. It's not necessarily practical over the internet, but it is, in my opinion, how live eSports in a LAN environment should be done.

Did I say something offensive? That wasn't my intention, I'm simply explaining that there isn't just a simple right and wrong way to do things and that it's good that there's choice in terms of what kind of broadcast you want to watch. Wanting everyone to do things one way is harmful overall. Variety is a good thing for the scene, viewers will naturally gravitate towards casters that fill their particular desires and preferences and we'll have a vibrant and varied eSports environment which is healthy and constantly growing.

This is something I disagree with, although I'm probably wrong. I just think that its more important both the casters are on the same wavelength rather than suppling the perfect mix between analysis and excitement. One caster knowing alot compared to another always seem to create a bit of tension for me watching the games that distracts me.

No, that's the whole point of a caster pairng. To my knowledge we've never really had this succesfully in Starcraft 2 yet, closest thing so far has been Day9 and Djwheat. I'd love to see a cast where Day9 doesn't endlessly ramble the play-by-play and instead just interjects random analysis when helpful.
The thing I find with so many SC2 casters if not all of them, is that they constantly talk over one another. Even Tasteosis almost evenly split the analysis and the play-by-play. This gives the listener the effect that they're actually fighting over the microphone, which for someone who watches FAR too much Starcraft 2 is beginning to get old.
While there points where Totalbiscuits knowledge of the game was so painful that it made me wonder if he'd actually ever played anything but singleplayer. He made up for this with 'the sauce', a decent sense of humour, and very nice play-by-play. If he never had to make analytical comments because he was pared with someone like Day9, it would be awesome. But only on the condition that both casters learn to work with each other and stay in their respective roles.
What was the last time a football analyist jumped the mic in the middle of play and started shouting out what was going on? That's Day9 and DApollo, no idea which one is the commentator or the analyist, they're just taking big gaps speaking their minds in turn.
Don't get me wrong, I love the SC2 casters we've got, but there is massive room for improvement.
TB is pretty entertaining during the exciting parts, but when there's no battle going on he just shuts up, while ocasionally saying something obvious, which is why people say he should cast with someone else.
Also, lol at TB aiming his casting towards casuals. Ironic, eh?

You do a really good job at color commentating TB, however, you might want to incorporate a small amount of analytical bits in the downtime (when the action isn't so high) as is often the case in an RTS game. You did some of this already in the beginning, and I understand it gets more difficult as the game progresses to have an assurance about something. I hope you continue to learn more about the game and slowly incorporate that into your casting, as knowledge can only benefit you.
TLDR: Good job with casting, and never stop learning the game.
I honestly couldn't care less that you didn't know all the recent trends in builds and lacked the knowledge of day9. Your cast was extremely entertaining and I actually turned the day9/appolo cast off to watch yours.

Expect delivery is mid next week. SHOUTcraft will restart once this thing is setup, settled in and fully tested.
WHY DO YOU HAVE A GAMING NETWORK CARD TOTALBISCUIT? Because Idra told me to buy it and I cannot refuse the Gracken. I also bought Hyper-X because of his Pro-tip videos. eSports Advertising and Sponsorship works, companies take note.
Expect an announcement within the week about the dates for new SHOUTcraft shows. Finally, it's now possible for EVERY casted live game to also appear on Youtube in HD. The SHOUTcraft ambition is finally realised.
