He's just so on top of shit, all the time. I fucking hate it when casters are too busy being like "omg I'm watching this awesome game dododo" and not watching or paying attenion to unit counts or unit lost tab. Totalbiscuit would in downtimes between fights would check production, then switch back to unit tab, then after the battle show the unit's lost tab to see who came out ahead. That's what I like, using the tools you are given to the best of his ability. Too often do I hear commentators unsure about a number of units, or miss a building entirely and be surprised by the unit that it produced. They just think they're so fucking awesome that they can just blabber about what he would do and make pretty stupid jokes that are mostly only funny to really oldschool players. I wonder who those people could be >.< Totalbiscuit for GSL casting with day[9] and I would be in heaven.

Ive not actually watched you cast before, and although you admit to not knowing the most about the scene atm, to actually have that enthusiasm and enjoyment of just casting games is really enjoyable. And rather than long breaks between games, just filling in time with randoms stuff is really nice for the viewers. It gets pretty boring waiting for stuff when it isnt slick, so having some random games/bo3 and strange multiplayer games is really enjoyable.

Uncut, sorry about that folks, editing .flv is almost impossible in Premiere so there's not much I can do about it right now.

Firstly, my computer is not up to scratch. I'm still running a Q9550, which is a 3 year old cpu. Even overclocked it can't handle Flash Media Encoder well enough to not drop frames. Some confused it with graphics lag, this was not the case. I put a 580gtx in this machine yesterday and it handles Starcraft 2 very well. The second factor is how Ustream actually works. Ustream is owned by AOL and is a dump for their spare bandwidth. It costs them next to nothing to run, they get good ad revenue off it, so they keep the service open. However, they shift channel priority up and down on both the hardware cluster and connections depending on various factors. Day9 for instance, does a regular, daily, high-volume show, which means he's on one of their beefier machines with priority bandwidth. They do this for him because they are able to sell ad-inventory on his show easier, due to it's regularity and steady viewerbase. They make more money off Day9 so they prioritise him to ensure that his show continues uninterrupted. Something like SHOUTcraft for instance, used to have some priority too, because it used to happen 2-3 times a week and pull in ok numbers. It's been off air since beta, only coming back on for i40 and then for Dreamhack. It is basically buried under a bunch of old junk in the attic, running on a Spectrum ZX81, so it's not getting the bandwidth it needs to avoid that lag. Those are the two elements that combined to create a laggy stream. I can solve both with one move, which is getting my new mega-rig and bringing SHOUTcraft back as a twice weekly show. That will happen within a month if all goes to plan (and it hasn't so far)

Aside from that it didn't lag all that much for me, mostly just during the first day, I believe he mentioned Ustream giving different priority to streams based on the amount of viewers they have overall. So when his stream suddenly gets a legion of viewers, yeah..you can imagine. Also his current computer is a bit err..subpar. Unless my memory fails he was gonna get a new kickass machine in a few days or so. /edit Nvm. Congratulations to me for a slow and useless reply. Sorry. :<
