As the title says, what is the maximum display resolution supported by SC2?

Sorry for the lack of content, but I've searched both google and TL for a long time and have yet to find a definitive answer to this question. I ask because I'm wondering how large of a monitor I should get.

Thanks.

I know for sure the minimum resolution is 1024x768. In the options it only shows the maximum resolution that my monitor supports but I know sc2 supports a much larger resolution that 1280x1024.

I am running at 1920x1200. I returned my monitor capable of 2500x because not many games would play at that.. and it made me go blind. Anyone running at 2500x res?

It shouldn't have a max, most developers let the gpu handle that so that it scales to any resolution capable of the graphics card.

Running 1680x1050; which shows up as max on my computer. Obviously it's based on gfx card + monitor.

would expect up to 2560*1600 for single monitor

more curious if the SC2 beta supports eyefinity resolutions
E-Sports is competitive video gaming with a spectator fan base. Do not take the word "Sports" literally.

unlikely because that would have to be squished together else eyefinity has a huge advantage of seeing more of the field.

eyefinity in games is mean for person point of view 1st and 3rd where you feel engulfed by the environment not a top down view.

More resolution means you can see more area on the screen, but at the same time, everything becomes smaller. Do you guys think that higher resolutions could impede micro?

That's not correct higher resolution should not give more space blizzard should scale the game properly to aspect ratios but camera height should never change.
Although i have yet to see a comparison between 4:3 5:4 16 16:10

It doesn't look like the game is scaled, according to this.

I didn't mean aspect raitos but i mean resolution

All rts games seem to suffer from inability to show all the same screen no matter what ratio take a look at C&C3

But i hope things like
1440x900
1680x1050
1920x1200

all 16 should show the same picture (although higher resolution the better the game will look smoother etc)

Crap, maybe I'm confusing the two terms. Anyway, it seems like those with big wide screen monitors have the advantage since their screens cover more terrain.

Yeah 16 screens work best but i'd also think having a large screen helps see everything because you don't have to stick you face up against the screen to see detail and high resolution makes the picture cleaner again helping you see the game.

Why do you say specifically 16:10 works best? Are you saying larger screens are worse?

I'm saying larger screen with more resolution work best that are 16 as 16 gives the most view of the map apparently

running the game at 2048 x 115s no problems.

It defaulted to 1080p / 1920 x 1080 at first but I changed that 1st thing.

does anyone know if the field of vision is actually affected by resolution? i tried 1024x800 and 1440x900 and seems only the quality is affected.

I switched from playing 1280x800 to 1920x1200 and it was like a completely different game. The view and mouse movement felt completely different.. so I'm really curious if they're scaled equally. I switched back. My .02.

I play it on 1680x1050 cause I got a 22'' monitor.

There's a thread on here showing SC2 on a triple monitor setup with eyefinity at 5760x1080 so I don't think it is limited.

Really not useful though when you have to turn your head to look between your unit count and abilities to the other side of the map.. better for FPS type games then RTS.

as for scaling, you see the same viewing area on 1920x1080 as you do at 1366x768; only sd 4:3 resolutions cut off part of the viewing area.

I've run it at 2560x1440 on my 27'' iMac - runs pretty laggy on boot camp and very laggy on boot camp (on the highest settings).

Side note: I play at 1920x1200 resolution on windows 7 with bootcamp. Settings are ultra textures, high graphics, and 3d portraits on; consistently gets about 25-40fps.

After 60 fps or so it's not really noticeable. You must be getting near 60+ with a 460 even on a 27". I run over 60fps with a 9800gtx on a monitor that large (max res).

I run 2560x1440 on my 27" iMac on Ultra settings. Runs really smooth other than when pylon auras are clicked for some reason...

Running at 1920x1080(p) here so it definitely supports full high definition.
