Now that Mike Morhaime has revealed that the beta is ready to go in February, I've been cleared by Blizzard PR to tell you guys this:
I was able to visit Blizzard recently to prepare for the launch of the beta. As such, on the day the beta launches, I will be posting interviews with:
Dustin Browder Chris Sigaty Rob Pardo Greg Canessa
Greg's interview is by-far the most detailed and has a lot of good info about Battle.net 2.0, especially as it pertains to map-making. I also ask a lot of the guys about eSports and some other stuff.
Again, these will be posted on www.g4tv.com when the beta has launched.
And since you'll all probably ask, this does not mean that I know the actual launch date of the beta nor can I share impressions of B.net or the Beta Build at this time
BETA IS LIVE: THESE ARE UP

:-) awesome can't wait to see these, do the interviews detail gameplay aspects as well or is it strictly battle.net 2.0 stuff?
|
I don't know who you are but I would like to offer my daughter's hand in marriage. Thanks for the heads up!

I didn't ask a lot on gameplay specifics because the beta will be out and the community will be able to figure these things out much more than I could get in any questions.
I ask about eSports, the Leagues and Ladders system (VERY COOL INFO HERE), and more.

Haha that's hilarious.
OP thanks for doing the interviews and letting us know you will be sharing them. Look forward to checking them out.

These past two days have filled me with nothing but nerd glee. Really looking forward to these videos, provided that I don't get into the first round of beta invites

Do you actually work for G4TV or just a community member of that site?

Cool! Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks in advance for these! I can't wait to watch; the leagues are one of the parts of bnet that I'm most anticipating.
Anything else you can tell us about what's in the interviews?

Thank you for telling us. I will be sure to visit G4TV once beta launches.

So would this mean you have impressions to share about the beta? I'm guessing the press beta has been released already.

Can't share impressions until the beta starts and at that point you guys can form your own impressions or read those of players much better than I.
There is no press beta. I visited Blizzard.

Awesome!
How long have you known about the beta?
|
So, when you interviewed Dustin, did you sustain any... terrible terrible damage per chance?

Did you ask them for the interviews or did they invite you? I like hearing details like this. When I went to the June press event it was kinda a downer because they didn't reveal nearly as much as they wanted because of deciding to push back B.net 2.0 so I can't wait to see what they have to say on your site!

I approached them.

Awesome! Can't wait to hear these! Maybe I'll understand the new ladder a little better before I dive into it afterwords.

I actually just left G4TV... lol. Took a job at Gamefly/Shacknews. Today was my last day at G4. Interviews will still go up over there when the beta hits, though. I'll bump and link.
|
lol that's interesting but excellent nonetheless, OP. Much appreciated.

Pumped for the interviews. On a less serious note when you went to Blizzard Head Quarters and were talking to the team did you have to wear the Panda Bear hat? Were you allowed to talk if you weren't wearing THE HAT?!

Sweet, looking forward to these.
How involved with SC2 do you plan to be, empathe?
Do you have a beta invite?

i used to watch ninja warrior marathons with an old girlfriend. that fact makes that relationship sound much cooler than it was.

Thanks in advance for the interviews...I'm impressed that you could keep this a secret

Yeah, I have an invite. I'll be playing alot, hopefully taking video.
I'll also hopefully be covering the scene as it develops for work at Shacknews.com

It doesn't make sense to me releasing these 'after' beta is out. I mean, when the beta is out we can probably see by ourselves what all this is about, leagues, tournaments, b.net 2.0 etc. Seriously, why not release the interviews now and get people hyped about the beta, rather than keeping the information till the last moment?

Probably because those were the conditions under which Blizzard agreed to the interviews?

And maybe because when the beta will be out, people will say a lot of things, not true about the game, or not exact... and people who are not into the beta will get some bad informations. I guess Blizzard would like to launch it with a lot of official informations.

They probably won't have all features of b.net 2.0 ready at start of beta.

Tsagacity is correct. To get these interviews, we agreed not to post them until the beta had launched.

Excellent interviews. Apparently a large patch will be released post launch that will improve esport support of the game.
|
damn all this beta stuff has gotten my panties all wet. fuck this looks awesome.
|
if you listen to chris sagaty's interview, he talks about a patch they are preparing for e-sports content that wont make the release date.
It's official. There is a release date.
|
bump
|
damn the first interview is 22 mins. Its mostly bnet stuff but i couldn;'t help notice how much he moved his eyebrows! those things can move like 3 inches holy crap
First guy spends a good deal talking about custom map interface and map editors .Apparently you get your own bnet page (like steam) and you can publish your maps there
