The good thing about MsC was that you could open all 3 tech paths and not get raped because of lack in detection. Well not really. Blizzard moving envision to oracle means that protoss doesn't have to go robo tech to get obs out because oracles are now a form of detection. I think that was the hole pt of the change.

I wonder how the hellbat changes will affect TvZ... suddenly hellbats work against roaches in short range situations (more health and now more dps) and Thors/tanks can make it bad for them to try to disengage... Weird changes to the reaper, too. Looks like Blizzard got clued in that people wanted Terran to change - and they're changing alright...

Who would have thought? You know, I doubted Blizzard since they removed the warhound without putting anything back in, but this just fixes the game. I'm so stoked for the beta to come online to try these changes. One of the biggest problems with mech was dealing with early protoss MSC all-ins, especially blink stalker all-ins. Now you get tanks with siege mode and mines they cannot detect without stargate/robo tech. Also much stronger hellbats against protoss armies, the splash was really only good against lings. Now they can further look into mech lategame viability. They have made the early game viable after all. Whats not to love as terran?

As for the patch it sounds exciting to me, we'll see if any of it will become a main stay.

With the detection delayed to stargate or robo, early agression with mines will be way stronger. Actually this patch will help a lot mech early game. The hellbat buff can be really good too. And ravens will now be able to snipe immortals maybe ? Well, mech terrans will have to experimentate a bit. There are a lot of changes in this patch. Agressive mech will probably be a good plan early in the game. The only problem for me is that the terran still needs to micro as hell with mech vs deathball whereas the protoss just has to amove...

Let's be fair, MsC was something you kinda got either way. Now unless you go Robo you HAVE to get oracles. Limiting our options early.

I think these changes are good, but it's really hard to tell. I would have liked to have seen the range of fungal nerfed, but I honestly don't think we'll see the top pros mass infestors like they are now. They're definitely worse than before.

It also means that if you are opening Stargate and have a need for detection then you can't be aggressive with your Oracles or really do anything but sit at home with them building up energy in order to stay safe.

Blizz guy A: "Hmmm guys how can we convince the community that we want Terran to be competitive and stop getting yelled at by the community"? Blizz guy B: "Well.... lets make a whole slew of completely random nonsensical changes to terran... I am not sure if they are buffs or nerfs but it will not matter" Blizz guy A: "Yea... good idea, let's do some stupid shit to the failbat so that it fails differently now, and make reaper changes that are so confusing that they can't yell at us just yet." Blizz guy B: "Good... good. Then lets leave chain fungal completely untouched, but take a tad of the damage off of armored units, which it doesn't kill anyway, so basically no change at all" Blizz guy A: "Excellent! Man our system of balance is awesome!" Blizz guy B: "It sure is, now let's get back to that raid group in WOW." I'm thinking the conversation went something like this.
