Why that change to the siege tank? As it has been said time and time again, this change does nothing to the late game for tanks which really is the big problem. As for the raven change, I think that was a good choice considering the old HOTS raven had no use whatsoever when compared to a battlecruiser...

Well this is an interesting patch. Not really sure what to think yet.

Well not really. Blizzard moving envision to oracle means that protoss doesn't have to go robo tech to get obs out because oracles are now a form of detection. I think that was the hole pt of the change.

So they made the hellbat a roach, except more roachy - better against the things roaches are good against and worse against the things they're bad against, except instead of Immortals as hard counters, it's going to be Phoenixes and Oracles. I get the feeling it's going to be really hard for protoss to deal with the new hellbats, especially considering they can quickly turn into hellions and zip around the map for harassment. I don't necessarily think it's a bad idea, actually - but it's going to be really, really hard for protoss players to deal with this.

I wonder how the hellbat changes will affect TvZ... suddenly hellbats work against roaches in short range situations (more health and now more dps) and Thors/tanks can make it bad for them to try to disengage...

Weird changes to the reaper, too. Looks like Blizzard got clued in that people wanted Terran to change - and they're changing alright...

Guys, they've done it. I'm so fucking happy right now. Mech TvP is viable. David Kim said so.

It was siege mode after all, the UPGRADE. Who would have thought? You know, I doubted Blizzard since they removed the warhound without putting anything back in, but this just fixes the game. I'm so stoked for the beta to come online to try these changes.

One of the biggest problems with mech was dealing with early protoss MSC all-ins, especially blink stalker all-ins.

Now you get tanks with siege mode and mines they cannot detect without stargate/robo tech. Also much stronger hellbats against protoss armies, the splash was really only good against lings. Now they can further look into mech lategame viability. They have made the early game viable after all. Whats not to love as terran?

They are just testing things people, jesus christ nothing of this is final. Fucking negative nancy land.

As for the patch it sounds exciting to me, we'll see if any of it will become a main stay.

With those buff for terrans, early agression with tanks will be easier. Protoss wont be able to play greedily.

With the detection delayed to stargate or robo, early agression with mines will be way stronger.

Actually this patch will help a lot mech early game. The hellbat buff can be really good too. And ravens will now be able to snipe immortals maybe ?

Well, mech terrans will have to experimentate a bit. There are a lot of changes in this patch. Agressive mech will probably be a good plan early in the game.

The only problem for me is that the terran still needs to micro as hell with mech vs deathball whereas the protoss just has to amove...

Let's be fair, MsC was something you kinda got either way. Now unless you go Robo you HAVE to get oracles. Limiting our options early.

Although it's not the change the hardcore mechers were hoping for (which would allow them to play some version of BW tvp), won't the change to the tank make it much safer to mech in tvp? I don't understand how it would have any other effect. Also saving the 100 gas early on means you'll be able to afford an additional factory that much earlier. I'm interested to see how this change (in conjunction with the change to ravens and hellbats) plays out at (very) high levels of play. The change to the caduceus reactor might also have been an attempt to make mech more viable (by weakening the alternative).

I think these changes are good, but it's really hard to tell. I would have liked to have seen the range of fungal nerfed, but I honestly don't think we'll see the top pros mass infestors like they are now. They're definitely worse than before.

To be is to be the value of a bound variable.

patch seems all over the place. the only sensible change was moving time warp over to the mothership core but that kind of neuters the oracle as a utility unit for me.

It also means that if you are opening Stargate and have a need for detection then you can't be aggressive with your Oracles or really do anything but sit at home with them building up energy in order to stay safe.

Meanwhile, over at Blizzard:

Blizz guy A: "Hmmm guys how can we convince the community that we want Terran to be competitive and stop getting yelled at by the community"?

Blizz guy B: "Well.... lets make a whole slew of completely random nonsensical changes to terran... I am not sure if they are buffs or nerfs but it will not matter"

Blizz guy A: "Yea... good idea, let's do some stupid shit to the failbat so that it fails differently now, and make reaper changes that are so confusing that they can't yell at us just yet."

Blizz guy B: "Good... good. Then lets leave chain fungal completely untouched, but take a tad of the damage off of armored units, which it doesn't kill anyway, so basically no change at all"

Blizz guy A: "Excellent! Man our system of balance is awesome!"

Blizz guy B: "It sure is, now let's get back to that raid group in WOW."

I'm thinking the conversation went something like this.

At this point i really wish thay Blizzard would postpone HotS release, and scrap everything to start all over. It feels like they are very much out of sync with them self. They give Medivacs a huge buff, but buffs Ultralisks aswell to make up for it. Then they remove Medivac buff and leave Ultralisk alone. They change so many things all the time, but instead of getting closer to an end goal they are just making the game more and more random with every patch.

The siege mode change actually makes a ton of sense, reduces the possibilty of gateway allins, roach allins, and roach bane allins working.
Making it easier to get to mid-late game mech
Still reading through the rest of the patch.
