I can't say for sure without beta access, but I don't think that's correct. They didn't mention anything about reverting the upgrade completely, just that it doesn't heal faster anymore. Remember, the new Caduceus Reactor did two things: it increased the heal rate, and it increased the energy efficiency. So, if it no longer heals faster, then it now just improves your energy efficiency by 67% (5 health/point energy instead of 3 health/point). Which is still quite a bit better than just +25 energy; rather than give you 75 starting energy to heal up to 225 health out of the gate, it makes your starting 50 energy heal 250 health, and each additional point of energy heals for two extra health.

The fact that they took out vortex makes me very angry though, since they have now relieved protoss of one of the main late game abilities that has been used to kill blord-festor.

You do realize Vortex was already basically neutered, as of Patch 8?

This patch is terrible. The siege tank buff and reasoning makes me think Blizzard knows absolutely nothing about TvP. So mech remains useless on a unit to unit basis and timing attacks get stronger. Wow. Brilliant.

They can easily reduce the hellbat's base damage to 18+7 light and keep the infernal pre-igniter upgrade on the hellbat. The blue flame was pretty cool.

That's funny. Literally the only unquestionably good thing to come out of this expansion for Terran (apart from Thors losing energy bars!) gets just straight up cut. Just cut.

So Terran, who had the weakest late-game in WoL (that's the same WoL in which Protoss got ripped apart by Infestor/BL) are actually the only ones who don't get any late-game buffs. Zerg get Vipers that demolish mech and insane Ultras that ravage bio, Protoss get insane Tempests that obliterate mech and add to a stronger deathball, and Terran... uhhh................

Uh...... HSM takes less energy? But deals less damage? So I guess it's not as awful as it was for the last two patches? So tier 3 is fine.

ah, no siege mode research is awesome! i feel more safe now opening mech. and i am glad they removed the ability to look up cliffs from reaper.
the new hsm is also badass.

If you have tried it in Units Tester, you know that in less than 100 supply army, Mech can hardly beat Protoss. But once it reaches 120 army supply, then Mech can fight and win Protoss compositions (with more than 6 immortals, 5 colossus, 5 archons and more). The main reason is that tank is strong when reaching a critical mass. The magic threshold is 15 tanks.
Whether late-game mech can trade effectively with Protoss in actual game is another issue entirely.

But the composition itself in the late-game is viable in big engagement.

So, the biggest problem is teching to mech.

Only HSM change is good, about siege tank upgrade it doesnt help late game at all, sieged or unsieged it doesnt matter with AA and Heavy Immortals play

Yea this patch was pretty lame. I use to be actually be able to trade efficiently with toss in late game with the medivac healing upgrade but now its back to get owned late game. The siege tank thing seems pretty lame since now TvT is like you can defend a lot of early timings. TvZ is still pretty crappy late game as well since new ultras destroy bio and with the healing upgrade remove its pretty hard to trade cost efficiently with them.

Trust me, they know exactly what is wrong with TvP, just like everybody else on this forum. But the problem as we all know is in how they designed Protoss in sc2 and they won't change its core because it would mean that they needed to remake Protoss as a whole and that would also mean that we were right all along, they were wrong and failed at their job. They would also get a shitstorm from people that like sc2 protoss like it is.

Since they don't want all that they just try and sweep the problem under the rug by changing stupid shit around the problem that doesn't fix anything in the end.

Thorzain seems to be kicking ass and taking names post patch. We will have to see, rather than theory craft.

Glad to see that revert on the Splash for HSM, but quite confused abouit the siege mode change. Hopefully, they'll give us a straight numbers buff soon...

Good too see vortex is gon, and Time warm on mother ship makes sense to make people want to buy it I guess.

And I almost forgot: YAY REAPER CHANGE TVT IS PLAYABLE

Not a big fan of the Terran siege tech for free change.
Like is that really the biggest issue with going mech? Getting the siege upgrade in time?

To me, when mech play is working properly, that's one of the exciting timing things in a game. Can he hold in time for siege upgrade to finish, can he hold, can he hooold? Siege finishes, Tanks siege up and the shelling begins.

(This assumes of course that the Tank is a liiittle more powerful then it currently is- being able to one shot some of the lower tier units used to be a neat thing just to make it feel powerful again.) Dunno. I would think mech play would have more problems with dealing with backstabs, protecting flanks or not scaling properly in the endgame rather than simply a matter of not getting the actual tech fast enough.

Regarding the Siege Tank, I would like to see Blizzard reintroducing something similar to the Overkill from Brood War.
If Siege Tanks were stronger in lower and weaker in large numbers, then Tank-lines could be much more spread out -> less Deathballs -> more Awesomeness.
