No siege just means early game protection for Terran in all MU's, but it will affect TvP least of all. It was made for TvP to make mech more viable but it does nothing for mid-lategame which is where Terran mech fails vs Protoss. What the fuck are they thinking.

Without Envision, Mech Players can hold Blink/MSC all-ins with WM's and some Siege Tanks. So it becomes easier to tech to Mech. And with earlier Siege Tanks and not so useless mines, Terran players gains the ability to punish overgreedy tosses.

But the problem in the late game is essentialy unadressed. But, well, Terran Players couldn't even get there before.

I really like the Raven buff and the Reaper nerf. It was the worst feeling when I learned about battle awareness the hard way...
Siege tank changes will help against zerg all-ins, but I do think their attack damage should be buffed.

Exactly. This could be a huge change for non-obvious reasons. The analogy you draw to queen range is spot on.

For 50% of the people who post on TL, if the purpose of something is not immediately apparent and obvious (and what they were hoping for), it must be completely stupid and pointless.

While this is true, the reason the queen buff was so good is that zerg could spend all their larvae on drones, which is an accelerating issue, more drones early means more drones later.

This can not be said about the siege tech. You are not going to have any more command centers or scvs because of the removal of a 100/100 upgrade. This being said, there might be some impacts that we can not see yet. We will have to wait and see how it does.


What? You can feel safer to go an early third command center and by extension have more scvs. That's how Terran macros up. Of course this could impact economy. Also with the 100/100 you can get another factory out earlier, which means you'll have more production earlier, etc. All of these things are "accelerations" from the norm. Nevertheless it is too early to tell if that's how it will play out. I'm hoping it will because I want to see more mech in tvp.



I realized this also shortly after posting. I retract that statement and agree with you fully.

I don't think "hidden economic adventages planted there by Blizz genies" is anything we have to look for.

They stated "we are addressing TvP mech"
They removed siege tank research.
Does that change anything in the equation where Immortal >> Factory?
No.
So all it does is that it encourages 1 base play, and that T players are gonna be laughed at if they are not siegeing at 6 minutes up at enemy nat with proxy reactored raxes giving birth to unlimited reapers.

It's like we are back at WoL beta again.

Pretty sure zerg got the hard end of this patch, bunker reaper rush and siege tank buff. Thats Tough.

First thing that jumped to mind is how will Helbats deal with Zealots with the small AOE. I hope they didn't break one of the only good things they managed to do with mech.

The Tank "buff" is a joke, just that. It helps for defense but in a very boring way. Takes decisions and suspense away from the game.

The Raven change sound great. Although, will the targeted unit light up red still?

Over all, Tanks still suck and so will mech in TvP. I hope they can do better then this, sigh...

1. Stop this hellbat nonsense. Boring unit that sucks v everything P that isn't a Zealot
2. Give Siege Tanks an upgrade that makes their shells do extra damage to P shields.

It won't ruin early game TvP like your stupid removal of research for Siege tech AND it won't affect TvZ or TvT at all, where the siege tank shines.

Wake up. Mech is awesome because of the siege tank, the siege tank just sucks massive balls vs P.

What a rediculously bad patch...

Ok so reapers get available earlier but their damage is rediculously bad?? Seems like they might as well remove it from the game again... How can david kim not understand that the only way to make reapers something else than an early game gimmick is to give them an upgrade for LATER in the game.. Just keep them on tech lab, nerf them just a little bit and give them a lategame upgrade on ghost academy for example to give them a use at that phase.. Now they are just nerfed to oblivion again if they can't even beat marines or anything anymore..

Battlehellion change is hard to gauge, much more damage but lower range is hard to gauge. I guess this could make them better against zealots which they face at melee range and are low in number but makes them potentially worse against hydra's and lings for which they'd need more range.

Medivac upgrade gone feels silly, I actually think it was alright since it was so hard to get anyway.. But doesn't matter too much.

Siege tank change is rediculously stupid. Slightly easier to open mech in TvP but tanks will suck there. At the same time tanks become a fantastic opener in TvZ and TvT now.. I foresee many extremely greedy 3 base openers against zerg with this.. Just open like bomber did today with CC-rax (walloff) - CC and then go quick factory while walling off your front. One or two quick tanks stop any quick pushes.. Strong mech timings only come up as well since hellbats nor tanks hardly require upgrades anymore, blue flame is only good for hellions anyway.. One of the most stupid ways ever, exactly what I feared would happen: useless change for TvP, screws over other matchups a lot by buffing mech too much there.

They have this silly idea that mixing all sorts of combinations should be possible, why? I like the distinctive styles of bio and mech and would hate to see matchups where you mix a bit of everything all the time..

Raven change is alright I guess but 5!! seconds waiting time? Makes it too much of a broodlord and siege tank answer only imo. I like the idea of seeker missiles against muta's with the old targeting you could outrun.

Protoss changes are alright, free detection of the MsC was too good really. MsC is really dull though now, a bit faster with less damage or something so it would actually enable that harass it's ment for would be great.

LoL. Mech is weaker in every match up than in WoL. I am not sure this patch will change a bit about that. Hydra/raoch/viper ball or usual protoss stuff (+air) are still largely better than pure mech imo. Siege upgrade dont change anything, but let's see how the new hellbat works

Or tvz lol. I think i'm like 60-4 facing mech. 4 loses, the 60 might be exaggerated but I know I have lost to mech only 4 times, I can name the players who I lost to and why I lost. So easy to beat zvt.
