EPTI'm not sure if this has been figured out already, I was unable to find a threat mentioning this "feature".
When I first looked into Patch 2.0.1, I was like "Wait a second. They have the ability to render scenes in the menu, and all they give us is something that looks like a straightup render-image without any effects?"
I tried around a bit, and, there you go, the whole background has an animation, it is just paused. In order to enable the animation, you have to switch into the gameplay menu and change the "Menu Screen Theme" to Terran, and then back to Zerg.
Once you finished a game, the background will be paused again.
