There is no point in having a clan with like 300 people
I don't know what you do with a clan of 300 people, except have a huge mailing list and hope to god only 10% reply to anything.

Hahahaha, I think at that point the idea of a mailing list is a bit much. More just a bunch of nerd that want to sport a clan tag and have a place to hang on BNET. Most I have seen in a single clan channel is round about fifty. I would love to let officers adjust it on there own, but I am not looking a gift horse in the mouth on this one.

Why have a minimum of 3 characters for a clan? So many clans have (or have had) 2 characters.

What skeldark is saying (correct me if i am wrong):
Coding basic functions as chat/clan system don't take allot of time. IF it so happens to take more than a couple of days its because of external reasons and not because of coding process itself. Skeldrak mentioned some of them
Exampel of extarnal resons can be: *Not a flexible core structure *Hard to do changes in Blizzard since u need clearance for everything u do
My own speculation on the subject
I believe that a combination of these have lead to the delay in updates. This is pure speculation but it seems blizzard have a working structure that they segmented different part of development over the years. The also seem to be protective over there battlnet system. For example Blizzard have a offline Battle server but you need to hire a body guard that protects it 24/7 during the entire event. From this it seems likely they don't let anyone have aces to the Battle system. It also seems likely that big changes on the Battle system are only allowed during specific periods when developing games or might need certain clearance .
If we continue with the notion that they are only allowed to do changes on specific periods. Those periods seems to likely be planned in before hand for each game blizzard creates. What that means that with developing with Hots and Diablo 3 they already planned period where they can work with Battle net and you are allowed to do changes on the system.
So even if the developers them self want to add functions on Battle net and know how to code them , they probably are not allowed to implement them before these periods. IF this is true it means they have to wait to implement functions they want on Battle net until those periods appears and are powerless to do anything before that. Being a big company as blizzard it would not surprise me if they have a firm structured that they follow.
If this is the case it doesn't really matter how much the community complains on why they don't implement stuff that don't seem to hard to code. Since the problem might be that they cant add the change any sooner then they are doing now because of the reason i states or something else.
Just to clarify this is purely speculations on why it takes so long for blizzard to do changes that might not be hard to code wise.

Well this is awesome you won't need those name changes if I'm correct? What's even more awesome it that they are finally going forward again .
Won't it be odd however for people who have say for example EG.Machine now has EG.EG.Machine?

im sure with the release of hots you will get a free name change

Give clans the chance to upload their logo, and by that I not only mean for the channel/clan page but also ingame as decals. Would look awesome in tournaments if players have their clan logo on their CC and so on...

Man, i have a doubt: will WOL be required to play HOTS?

Not sure why people hate having more than 50 in a clan. I personally loved the feeling of amassing more and more people into my clan and then challenge other big clans to team-games or having everyone in one chatroom for more dota games (this was during WC3, etc.).

That's not a clan, that's more like a community...... more than 50 is ridiculous, something like 30 would be reasonable.
If you need more than 50 it's obviously some kind of community like tl, just a smaller one, maybe, region specific. It's pretty much 50 % or more players you don't even know or haven't played before. Why exactly you need this clan tag for ?
Or just describe the "clan" because it obviously different than what I think the clan is.

I appreciate what Blizzard is trying to do, but I just can't help but think it's too late. This is basic stuff that should have been here with release.

If you have more than 50 in a clan, just have 2 different rosters like (Super Killers 1) Tag SK1, (Super Killers 2) SK2.
Even could have the same tag, sure it takes a minimal amount of effort to sync(leader 1 sorts that with leader 2) but its better than what we have now!
Blizzard never fails us in the long run!

Yes, its an expansion pack. Not hard to understand. You will need to have a WoL key to play HotS unless blizzard completely change how they do business.

What is required for the creation of the clan do you have to get a charter with 3 people like a wow guild or something? It says in the OP that anyone can create a clan so are we going to have people making clans just for the tag in front of their name?
