I only have medic marines firebats reapers spectres wraiths vultures at this point, I spent the past 3 hours trying the above to beat it but I keep getting overwhelmed at the 4th base. Any tips? Or am I screwed, I'm only missing like 4 more brutal missions =/

I'm going through mission archives btw, so I can't get any higher tech

nevermind I did it, keeping my wraiths alive for the last few bcs solved everything

I did it with pure wraiths + scv spam for repair. Oh, and a couple hero mercs just for defense. Cloaked wraiths + some micro can wreck the high damage enemy units no prob.

edit: you can get like 20-30 of them by the last base and just suicide them at the BCs...

I did Goliaths. They are strong especially if you got the both ground air attack upgrade.

Goliaths, Science vessels and SVCs was my composition. I also made 2-3 tanks at my base, which took care of any enemy counters. I also added a Bunker. I expanded also instantly and added 1 tank there because a Reaper raid there is possible.

I had no issues clearing this map.

Where is the Loki? Had the whole map clear and can't seem to find it. NM, found it east of 4th base

I did this on Brutal with pure Wraiths, 0 (zero) ground army, I made a second startport at the begining and start making wraiths, they are vulnerable but if you keep em cloaked and snipe detection you should be ok, they rape BCs, I had serveral SCVs hiding near the base, and sended them in pairs to repair, if you send them all at once they get raped quickly, but if you send a couple now and then they will keep him up. As for the attacks, make 2 bunkers in the front (near second base), and 1 bunker with 2 or 3 turrets in the back (the wave of attack that comes from that side is heavy air), The hard part for me was the second base, I just intercepted some of the waves with my wraiths and when they reached my base my bunkers could easly take them down, last 2 spots are a cake walk if you have mass wraiths (which i had), since is almost all air.Took me several attemps tho, (second base was hell).

And yes, the key to this mission is science vessels.

In this mission or in general? In this mission you're probably okay with getting Vikings instead of Wraiths, especially the mercs, but you'll get more use out of wraiths the better you are at abusing cloak. In general, yeah they're not that great. They step on the Banshee's turf too much to be used in multiplayer.

Anyone else think it's weird that the wraith requires a tech lab all of a sudden, when in Brood War it didn't even need a Control Tower?

Just finished it on brutal.

All it took was 2 starports, mass wraiths, and some easy SCV repair from time to time.

Didn't have science vessels, I'll have to redo it at a later point to see how much easier they would have made it.
I do not teach, I simply reveal.

2 Science Vessels + 5 SCVs around odin at all times

spam wraith banshee, its better then viking/banshee in this mission because they can cloak, found that banshee/wraith works better then just wraiths because while wraith suck against ground units, banshees doesnt

get 1 bunker + 1/2 siege tanks at each entrance just to stop raids

Expand to the second base as soon as you get there

Tanks, Vikings + few SCV's to repair Odin. Exactly like regular TvT match-up. Also, left at my base 1-2 sieged tanks, bunker and couple of turets (vs banshee + reaper harass).
I would have used Science Vessels too, but unfortunately my tech level at that moment was too low.

Vikings and Banshees are imba for this mission, can run back and forth between Odin and helping your base if it comes under attack, throw in a few science vessels for mech healing and all the siege tanks in the world can't do anything if they can't hit you.

Only used those 3 units throughout the entire mission, Cloak the banshees if they come under fire, and use the ball of vikings to 1-shot battle cruisers/enemy air and retreat behind the 2500 hp meat shield if you start losing units

Just macro pure wraith, with extra minerals going to an Infantry army.

Take the second base as soon as you can and make sure you run your wraiths back to defend it. When the Odin stops to rest, make sure to repair it as well as push forward with your wraiths to soften up the defenses ahead. The caster energy technology really helps as wraiths can be cloaked a long time.

this map was very easy for me.

Just rush battlecruisers before you attack the main terran base. You'll have 2-3 out by then. Then throw down a bunker with 1 scv on patrol for auto repair defense.

Once you reach like 4-5 battlecruisers, you win. Just yamato any air defense.

I massed Vikings/Banshees AND MASS SCVS! I swear I had like 16 scvs repairing. I had 2 bases rallying SCVs pumping 2 at a time. Was easy.

I beat this mission on brutal making nothing but wraiths lol... I tried SO MANY different things and nothing worked, eventually 3 port upgraded wraith won the day.

edit: tried sci vessels+banshee+wraith but the sci vessels run out of energy so fast with stupid fucking tychus being a damn cowboy, and the banshees didn't really seem to do anything that wraith's couldn't (and made it harder to kill ravens quickly because I'd have less wraiths).

I tried an all ground mech army, but assaulting up the bridges vs tanks and ravens and perdition turrets and stuff turned out to be too difficult.

I beat this mission last night after a few tries. Took actually a number of reloads before the guy pushed because I had bad comps. First game I actually spammed science vessels, but that failed miserably since they heal slowly (kept losing at 4th base). Second game I spammed marines, medics, vikings and tanks. The key to using the tanks is to get into position before he gets htere. If you let the thor tank EVERYTHING he will die before your tanks can get set up. Also it's really annoying on the 3rd base when he walks by the factory but your units will not a-move past it.

I was unable to muster enough forces to kill loki, however. In retrospect I should have just spammed wraiths instead of vikings. I also expoed to the top as soon as I cleared it.

When he gets to 3rd base, just comsat the top and move your tanks up into seige range. I had about 8 by the time he got the 3rd base.

I didn't have any science vessels when I did this mission, or battle-cruisers, or anything like that, I did it really early on so I was kinda screwed in that way. Hell I didn't even have tanks. The only mercs I had access to were the marine and the Goliath ones. I also didn't have many research or armoury upgrades this early in the game.

I found it incredibly difficult but doable, just, with a hell of a lot of swearing.

Initially I left Tychus to destroy the first base solo, and built an armoury immediately to begin researching air weapons and later armour upgrades. I macroed like crazy and built as many wraiths as possible as soon as possible.

I also put up 2 bunkers (I had all the upgrades for the bunker researched -> the gun on top not the +hp) to the east of my base and filled them with marines. This is more than enough to hold off the first assault. Build additional marines when you have extra minerals and later on throw down an extra rax.

You NEED to save when he's resting after the first base. The Raven will ruin your day. Repeatedly. And with extreme prejudice. If you've been macroing ok you will have a reasonable number of wraiths by now, but not enough to 2 shot the Raven yet, at least I didn't which was a real pain. I needed to play the crucial few seconds over a few times before I got it right or just got lucky. Your objectives here are to:
-Lose as few wraiths as possible, especially to the bloody Hunter-Seeker Missile.
-Kill the Raven
-Kill the Siege Tank

The major issue is that you have to time it perfectly so that all the marines aren't going to focus down your wraiths, but Tychus isn't going to get absolutely slaughtered while you're screwing around getting rid of the threats to him and to your wraiths.

Always keep scvs on hand to repair him. It doesn't matter if they die.

Repair any wraith that needs it.

You also need to be very very very careful about letting Tychus do exactly as much of the work as he can. You should pull your wraiths back as soon as you judge that you can for two reasons. Firstly you can't keep them cloaked indefinitely and you need your cloak for when the wraiths are actually necessary. Secondly Tychus alone takes longer to destroy bases and units than Tychus with a squadron of wraiths helping. This gives you more time to macro harder.

Keep pumping wraiths, make sure to get your second gas and get a second starport up as soon as you can. Use excess money on infantry and expand a little later on. While Tychus rests and you repair him get your wraiths outside your base to the east a little ready to intercept the attacks against you. Focus stuff down, snipe the reapers asap and stuff. Having a few marauders around is really helpful but don't go overboard on them. I also built a few gollys at this point 'cause I'd bought the upgrades for them and they're ok. Also I was buying mercs as often as I could. Once you've fended off those few attacks with vultures and diamondbacks and stuff like that it should be safe to expand. Build a few bunkers and turrets and stuff at your expo just to be safe and keep macroing.

Keep pumping wraiths from both starports and keep building scvs from both bases all day long. Your infantry army doesn't need to be that big really, just big enough. Hire the mercs on cooldown. Also keep saving up wraith energy. It's a super precious resource.

Just before he's about to go into the second base you go ahead of him all cloaked up. Take out the siege tanks and the diamondbacks first, they should ideally be down before he arrives. Then you can bring the goliaths down too. Have a squad of scvs ready to spam repairs to him now your economy should be getting nice. Keep building wraiths, seriously, never stop. The last thing you need to do is snipe the BC in the second base, being careful not to follow it or get too close because there's a turret right behind it.

While he's chilling just build more stuff, more infantry. Don't forget about your air upgrades. I think maybe you get attacked again but I wasn't looking at my base at that point, maybe there was an alert but I'd been expanding my bunkers and turrets and it was a non-issue.

Third base: not much detection except a turret behind the planetary fortress, which btw will do a metric fucktonne of damage to your precious Odin. Continue to be unafraid to throw away the lives of scores of SCVs to keep his life high. Primary targets here are BCs, Tanks and Banshees. Don't be afraid to reload saves if some wraiths die and hope for better luck or better control next time. You want to save as many as possible any time you can.

You'll be attacked in the back of your base by a raven and a load of vikings just before Tychus goes into the final base, I wasn't really ready for this but I had some mercs available and some newly trained infantry at my base so I coped. Also a load of vikings, marines, a raven and maybe some other stuff also come up towards your base from the direction of the fourth base, my infantry army ran into them on their way to Tychus and ripped them apart but mileage may vary.

Final base is a total clusterfuck. The mission is over at this point. When Tychus announces that he's going in you should pull every single scv on the map to him immediately, or possibly earlier. Don't bother building anything else unless you're certain you have the apm to spare. Just make sure you control your wraiths now. You should have a berjillion scvs constantly repairing the Odin but even so you should focus down the BCs asap, Yamato hurts like hell. Kill Ravens any time you're certain that the Odin can tank for a little bit but don't take chances, at this point you can throw away the lives of all of your wraiths if needs be so forget the ravens if suiciding wraiths into marines and goliaths to kill BCs is necessary. You should be ok not to do that though, just keep cool, kill everything that looks at you funny with the wraiths and believe me when I say that pulling every scv on the map to repair the Odin is the right thing to do. Oh and when you pull the scvs salvage every bunker 'cause extra money for repairs is good.

Forget about the Loki. This is brutal we don't need to expend our firepower on anything other than the bare essentials.

Ern nvm wrong mission.

+ Show Spoiler +
I did this the most hilarious way on hard to get the 20 minute achievement, though I suppose it would work on brutal unless theirs something special I'm not aware of. It isn't based on firepower.

I was doing the mission after the Tosh mission chain, and I wanted to try out spectres. If you put a cloaked spectre (or a ghost) on the thing, it brings it works. Basically I move 2 spectres into position near the UNN tower, carefully avoiding missile turret range, and I nuke out the turrets guarding it with 2 nukes. Then I put 12 vikings near the tower, or on the corner of the map in case of the top tower. Send a spectre in, wait ~40% then pull him back. A raven should come, snipe the raven with vikings (twelve vikings should oneshot it), then return the spectre, the second spectre is there in case you mess up. Odin is kept at base to defend, he can do this all by himself.

Make sure to target the leftmost base in the beginning. You can't infiltrate that one with spectres. After the other two bases are infiltrated, all in your SCVs+thor into that base, there shouldn't be anything left except the team that comes to attack after you begin capturing the tower.

This should work on brutal too unless they send in a lot of ravens, the computer uses scanner sweep or there are more Missie turrets in place, all which I'm pretty sure aren't true.

Siege tanks and vikings. Both were upgraded. Lots of scvs too and don't be afraid to call in mules. I also was building my second command center in base 2 while i was destroying base 2. The second the base was available I was mining from it. when you have base 2 under control just plant your siege tanks in siege mode at that choke between base 2, 3, and your base.
