I have actually reached the goal I set for myself and my weight is now 165 lbs. However now I workout 4 times a week and I'm starting to put on muscles..
Not really sure If I want to gain weight or lose weight or stay the same... I still have bellyfat when i sit down and I still feel pretty out of shape (all though better shape then ever).. Anyways I'm really doing my best atm to get really strong and healthy...
my goal is basically to get nice visible muscles so I can be proud over myself and feel handsome... Im struggling with my diet a lot

It is sorta hard to find a place to do oly lifting I live in a suburb of detroit...the only gym actually in my town is the gayest fucking gym ever. I refer to it as the "Wii" of gyms because its geared towards old people/casual excercisers. the free weight room is like 10 x 20 feet with NO FUCKING SQUAT RACK (because its too "judgemental") and the rest of the huge ass gym is filled with redudant amounts of treadmills/machines. Apparantly people who are serious about lifting/working out are scary and judgemental and frowned upon at planet fitness. But at school (mich state) i workout at the gym there which is pretty nice but still no place to really do dead lifts/powercleans/ etc.

what?! how can there be nowhere to do that sort of lifting at a university gym i don't believe that

On June 18 2009 02:02 AoN.DimSum wrote:does anyone do olympic lifting? It doesnt seem to get much response here I do cleans, and the university of waterloo gym has TONS of people who do olympic lifts. The powerlifting platform can fit three people and it's usually full. Bumper plates and everything.
I'm away from the university this term and my gym for now blows. No chalk, no bumper plates, no platform. At least it's got one power rack.

You don't HAVE to do anything, but working out your legs will produce an hormonal anabolic response in the rest of your body as well. Therefore targeting your legs will also help you build muscle on your upper body. I also run quite alot and working out your legs and core really helps with running.

I do the clean and jerk, but the only reason I do it, is because I hate taking the weight off the bar to place it back onto the squat rack. So when I finish doing bent over rows or shrugs I clean and jerk the bar back onto the rack without taking the weights off. It's usually too heavy to shoulder press.
Now I just have to learn to clean and jerk 260-300lb so I don't have to take the weights off after deadlifts.
It's ironic that I'm being lazy at the gym.

I had a bit of a setback, I spent a week drinking and eating. It was against my will, I promise. But I'm back on track now.
I'll post the results... eventually ^_^.

I am at an absolute peak in exercise and nutrition, the only thing remaining now is time. There is just nothing I can do to workout harder in the free time I have. I am really looking forward to the results in the next 4-6 weeks, assuming no set backs.
I was thinking how much harder the last 5% is compared to the first 95%. If I had to go back and try to lose another 50-60lb, with the knowledge, experience and self discipline acquired now. It would be a cake walk. I even walk around the gym now between my sets and during my breaks helping people and giving people advice (If they want it) and it's amazing how much people appreciate it. I think I'd enjoy being a personal trainer.

i guess i'll post here because right now i'm trying to get to 300+lbs bench press. Right now i've hit a wall at 270.

Serious congrats energies, what is your normal job if you don't mind me asking? I'm sure you're aware of how much you could make being a personal trainer >_>
Combination of excessive uni work, poorly timed sickness and a bit of burnout meant that until about a week ago I didn't do more than about 1 run a week on average, so my training wasn't going anywhere. Last friday I manned up and started running again, started with a slow 7k run, been running every day but Saturday since then, did 10km the day before yesterday, and today I did my bush run for the first time in ages just for shits and giggles, found that I was way more energetic and did it in 34 minutes, I started off with a slow pace though so I think I could break my PB if I went for it again. It'll have to wait until the city 2 surf is done though, so not for a month and a bit.
I'll update next once I've run the city 2 surf (14km) with my time.
Feeling really good now that I'm getting back into a routine, so for everyone that's slacked off over the last month/couple of months, get back to work! And to everyone that's still going strong, congrats

I'm in sales and consulting. Selling rigging gear to mining and offshore companies. It'd be great to do personal training for a living. But I'd settle for doing it for free as long as people appreciate and utilise the help, if the direction of my life ever halts or changes, I would get my qualification for sure.
Great work and progress on your running man, I remember when you started, you were walking. Now a 10km run!
I'm doing the Perth city to Surf in August. it's a 12km run, although I'm doing it purely for the exercise, not a strong enough runner to make it competitive. My goal is <60min though. I'm going to start training for it from next week as part of my increased cardio.

Where I was when this all started:
Metallingus Age: 23 Height: 5'10" Current Weight: 200 lbs Goal Weight: 190-200 lbs WITH 10-15% less BMI Starting Date: January 5th 2009 Goal Date: April 2009
Now: Current Weight: 165 lbs New Goal: Same, or 160 at the very least, but with less body fat. I'm at around 16% (down from around 30-ish) BF right now, most of it around the middsection I'm looking at hitting 13% or less in 3-6 months.
To think that I thought of losing 10 lbs at most by April, haha. I've been living mostly on tuna, chicken breast (broiled) and brown rice. "Junk" food for me is a peanut butter sandwich (on whole wheat bread) with a glass of skim milk.
Here's what I've been doing lately, suggestions for improvement would be greatly appreciated:
Workout A: Squats Military Press Yates' Row Preacher Curls Barbell Bench Press Dumbbell Triceps Extensions (Skullcrushers, sometimes)
Workout B: Deadlift Dumbbell Shoulder Presses (Arnold Press once in a while) Lat Pulldowns Concentration Curls Dumbbell Incline Bench Press Triceps Pulldowns
Workout C: Barbell Lunges Upright EZ-bar Rows One-armed Dumbbell Rows Hammer Curls Dumbbell Decline Bench Press Cable Triceps Extensions
All of those in order, supersets. I plan to mix in some core strength training for the days in between, stuff with the swiss ball or exercises to strengthen the smaller muscles so I can lift more weight.
Cardio is pretty erratic, sometimes I do HIIT, high-volume on a steep incline or just a walk to the gym taking all the stairs I come across instead of escalators.
