Alonso is so good right now but he needs more time, he needs another season in champs league to improve again with Leverkusen. De Zerbi is over rated and not good enough for that job. Then it leaves Naglesmann, but depends what happens with the national team in the summer with him. Outside of that my option would be Spaletti as he plays football they would like, but i dont think he wants to do that now as he is older. Thats pretty much the list and its not the best right now considering who they have to replace....unlucky Liverpool i guess.
100% no health scare - Klopp really is hands on one of the most honest people in football. If he said he has no energy, then he has no energy and thats why hes leaving. He doesnt do things halfheartedly. Thats why he is also the only person who can go toe to toe with ManCity. He puts all his energy into his teams

Its a gamble to announce it now unless they are absolutely sure the players will stay behind Klopp all the way and are willing to fight for his best send off possible.
Cant help but see this as a strange timing.

My bet would be him waiting if the German NT spot gets available in the next 24 months... Given his work style I'm absolutely not surprised of him burning out after such a long tenure. NT coach is still a prestiguous (and well paid) job, but even when always cruising on full throttle you can get some rest in between, but at the same time the big tourneys can give him the thrill workaholics like him are craving for.
Now obviously there he has less opportunities for squad and philosophy building, but at the same time his motivational skills will fully shine there. And if he gets the job after having resigned by himself, this looks much better than abandoning an old job or getting kicked out...

Well... that escalated quickly...

Yeah he joins Lampard and Gerrard in the good player, bad coach (so far) category.
|
What? Didn't Barca win a title under him? Gerrard couldn't even get above relegation, no?
|
Yes, last season Barca was very good in the league and even now they're still third. He's not a bad coach.
|
He probably has targets set by the board of winning the league and champions league every year, because if they don't they go bankrupt. They only have so many assets left to sell off

In general, I think it's much more nuanced than someone being a good or a bad manager. A lot of managers are good in certain circumstances, but can't navigate properly in some other situations. Someone like Ranieri can go from a brilliant title winner to relegation form in a few seasons.
Given the inexperience of Xavi as manager, I pretty much expect him to land into some situations where he's out of his depth for now. The question is more about whether he learns and adapts.

He is terrible lol, he has worst record of any barca coach ever in terms of defeats, he has turned barca into not barca with the way they play as well which is baffling. He also spent terribly as well.
Gerrard won a title too technically! No one is going to be lining up to give Xavi a job lets put it that way.

Yeah, I don't think he's going to any bigger club, but some lower end La Liga club might give him a shot maybe. We'll see how it goes from there.

He's already played and coached in Qatar, wouldn't be a stretch to see him move to Saudi

And thats why again these guys are just getting jobs based on there name and sometimes get lucky. Xabi Alonso looks right now a really good coach and doing great, but he should be so careful with the Liverpool job because its going to be huge. Huge expectations, probably another squad rebuild needed as i can see some players leaving with Klopp, through no fault of Alonso's. New league, very competitive right now and he has like 18 months to his name of top coaching.
Stay with Leverkusen, go in the champions league, do that complete season then if still top 2 in bundesliga and doing well in Champs, he clearly is a good coach and ready for a jump, but its going to be so hard to replicate that with Liverpool with lack of experience.

Many of the coaches that did better had Messi and other core players from Peps Barca. Arguably the best football team ever. As for the play style it hasn't been like it used to for years now. I don't think Xavi is a coach on the level Barca requires but very few are.

points per game he's the second worst since rijkard?

During his time in charge of Barcelona, Xavi has managed 122 matches with a 76-20-26 record, averaging 2.03 points per match in all competitions (just google)
His previous La Liga season was solid. I'm also not saying he's a poor manager - he's also the only one of these managers who didn't have Messi. But his average point per game is, by Barcelona standards, poor.

I’m not sure why it’s also afflicting Real a bit in recent years but I think it’s probably a good thing for La Liga that they’re not pulling in the crazy points totals they were a while back.
I feel it’s a bit of a shame a hall of fame player who, let’s not forget won La Liga probably ahead of schedule feels they can’t continue what is really a rebuild job due to unrealistic expectations but hey such is modern football!
