Getting someone like Bielsa in just relegates them straight away because you can't learn his style in 5 months and expect not to lose many games trying it. Some smaller club could probably accept relegation as a possible outcome and prepare accordingly, but Everton likely isn't built for that. Last time relegation was approaching, there was some talk that majority of their contracts don't have relegation clauses in them. Getting relegated would mean they're forced to offload unsustainable contracts and rebuild big time. Which wouldnt be so bad in the case of Everton imo... I think it could get pretty bad even compared to the current situation. Your organization has to be downsized, every other club knows you absolutely have to sell players and buy replacements and you're going to be scrambling to build a coherent roster out from nowhere. An overhaul is good, but you'd want to do that over a bunch of years, not in one summer or so. To me getting relegated would be more like the trajectory of Sunderland or at least Stoke or West Brom than some quick bounce back that some clubs have mustered. My Everton-supporting friend says she has accepted relegation this season as inevitable and hopes that it'll finally wake the ownership up to make changes. I personally don't think it will work out but I hope for her sake that something changes there. We both agree that the rot at Everton is so deep that the entire club will need to be overhauled and relegation might be the best shot at that given the incompetence of the board, staff, and players

Ah true that was imprecise wording. Even Brentford qualifies with my statement xD

Fernando Santos has been appointed coach of Poland after leaving Portugal.
Former Portugal boss Fernando Santos has been appointed as the new head coach of Poland.
Steven Gerrard had reportedly been linked to the job, after the former England midfielder was sacked by Aston Villa back in October.
Santos led Portugal to victory at Euro 2016 and the 2019 Nations League but quit after their exit in the World Cup quarter-finals at the hands of Morocco.
"It is an honour to continue my work as a trainer here," the 68-year-old said.
Cezary Kulesza, head of the Polish Football Federation, said "we have chosen the best" and "the choice was difficult", as he tasked Santos with qualifying for the 2024 European Championship in Germany.
Santos previously managed Greece from 2010-2014 and led them to the Euros and World Cup, where they exited at the quarter-finals and round of 16 respectively.

Ajax in a (not very) elite list of clubs that never got relegated out of the PL!

Six seasons in the premier league is not easy. They will almost certainly make it 7.
Brentford is less impressive, but I bet Brentford fans are happy nevertheless

can't think of the last time a player has looked so out of touch one season and then just becomes god the next
rashford on fire

As of right now all signs point to Berhalter being outed as head coach of the USMNT. As everyone else before him is out of a job.

rashford on fire To be fair we helped him out a fair bit yesterday with some absolutely tragic defending.

Really pleased to see Rashford doing so well again. One of the best humans in the game and capable of so much.
The recruitment of Ronaldo was a mistake, Solksjaer changing from the counter-attacking system that suited him so well to "control the ball because we are United" was a mistake. It's clear now that both affected him heavily. It's also been enough time for him to recover mentally from the penalty miss at the Euros as well.
Excited to see just how far he can go!

Excited to see just how far he can go! i dont think solksjaer changed from the counter attacking system to the modern possession based pressing system because he wanted to. definitely not because of the clubs image, since the football he successfully employed was actually what united was most known for. my theory is that the change was specifically due to ronaldo joining unexpectedly. thats why the team was so shit at it, because there was no gradual change in system or a proper pre season with the new system. its just one day solksjaer gets ronaldo dropped on him and its clear as day that ronaldo cant be the 9 in a counter attacking system anymore because ronaldo doesnt have the legs for it. the change in system allows ronaldo to be positioned further up the pitch at all times.

Just went back and looked at their results at the start of the season before he joined, they were 2 wins and a draw. You're probably right tbh
Who knows maybe even Maguire wouldn't have imploded the way he did if Ronaldo hadn't joined

yeah its no coincidence that maguire had his worst season the same time the team started playing higher up the pitch. solksjaer got too much hate for what he did imo. pretty underrated manager and did very well to place 2nd.

Ya Ronaldo totally boned the team. Was such a united hero that they couldn't refuse him, but didn't fit the game plan at all. Then the first penalty they got, Fernandes missed (after being like 11-1 on previous penalties) and he played without confidence after.
Lots of pundits thought Ronaldo was just what they needed to be title contenders, too, especially after the strong start they had. But it ended up a disaster signing.

I dont know if its just me but watching CR play and knowing how he did play for teams like Real makes me sad and I think his time is up.

I wonder what would have happened if Alex Ferguson hadn't intervened and Ronaldo signed for City instead. How Pep would have dealt with him and if City had a drop-off as a result.
Probably wouldn't have Haaland as the first consequence

Was weird how he was linked with it, why would he take a club who battled relegation twice in a row, surely there is a mid table or higher club out there who want to try to take the next step, in which he would be ideal for. Not even just premier league, that is any top league. Strange guy, i guess because he is paid so highly (£1 million a month for him and his staff) that people are put off?
