Snakeskin, black, gold, Kobe-inspired. These look cool, but at some point, you gotta really say goodbye to Kobe, right? Right?
Here’s where gray falls flat. The Cavs’ jerseys are already going to disappoint merely for having “The Land” on them, but this weird combination of muted gray with off-brand Pacers yellow is rough. But hey, apparently LeBron had a hand in the design. It’s a good thing Nike is making a new set of these each year, in case, well, you know.
The Magic must have logged on to Google Earth, took a screenshot, and then put it on a jersey. The inspiration description is even better: “The edges of light bordering our universe reveal a vastness greater than our imagination.” That’s how a Ken Burns doc on space would start, with Morgan Freeman narrating.
The Pelicans’ purple lies somewhere between too much and maybe just enough, which sums up many of the franchise’s moves of the last few years. The only issue: Anthony Davis wearing Lakers colors might make Pelicans fans sick.

Yes. He's below average in everything. Team can't run offense through him even vs bench units. Morons have been screaming about his potential for years but he has largely regressed. No matter what role he is put in he fails. Prime ball handler, prime scoring option, secondary scorer, complementary role player - he drags the team down. If he was replaced with a league average SF or SG Minnesota would win more games. They paid him for potential even though they had years of evidence to show he isn't good and is a bottom of the league level player.
But you get what you pay for. Minnesota is in deep trouble.
If a rookie does not improve in multiple areas, especially a lottery pick, how did they over perform their deal? What metric are you using to state this?
Wolves could offer Wiggins for Mitchell straight up and Utah would say no. He's not even considered a legit building block at this point.

Why is that? I don't watch other teams except SAS, LAL, HOU, GSW, and DAL, so really no idea what's up with Wiggins or the Wolves? Is it because he is lazy? uncorrected bad habits? bad fit? or just plain no skill player?
if you want examples of how a potential star player should improve as they move through their early 20s check out Oladipo or Gary Harris or Giannis or Porter. its not hard to see their progress... it jumps out at you.
any how, Anunoby, Brown, Gordon, Giannis, and Tatum all project to be better than Wiggins. When Simmons is at small forward and someone else is at PG ... Simmons is far better than Wiggins. most of these guys are years younger than Wiggins.
With the performance of the latest batch of draft picks i can't see him cracking the top 5 in his own position.
i think he'll be a boxscore-stat-stuffing allstar in 4 years. he'll be like Rudy Gay was as a starter.. when a team trades him they mysteriously get better.
as far as 1st-overall pick busts go...Wiggins is definitely better than Bennett.
The question now is... is he better than bargnani?

Over perform meaning good luck finding someone who can play 40 mins be your second leading scorer on a winning team at 7 mil. Regardless of age he gets paid a lot more. I think Utah would consider it, and you are talking about the breakout Rookie of the class. If you think some one is shit compare them to shit not the leader in the ROY or at least top 3 of that.
You really are bad at analysis. Being the 2nd leading scorer means absolutely nothing. If you have the second highest PPG on the team but score below league average and don't lift the offense you aren't helping the team on that end. It not only costs them 7 mil but the opportunity to just have a league average SF that could help them win games. Wiggins was 2nd in the league in FGA last year and wasn't even in the top 20 of best scorers in the league. Stop being a dunce. You know he's bad.
i've already provided my assessment of Wiggins. 18th to 21st best SF in the NBA. below average. in his 22-23 year Bargnani had better #s than Wiggins has right now. So its an open question as to whether Wiggins will end up better than Bargnani or not. he is better than Bennett though.
there is more to basketball than scoring. and Anunoby looks better than Wiggins and he is 2+ years younger. Anunoby doesn't carry the ball much when DD and Lowry are on the floor. When he plays with the bench his passing and playmaking are better than Wiggins.

Lots of people say it's laziness. Some think he just isn't smart. I think it's the usual - people see high PPG and ignore the areas a player should be improving in. They see Wiggins physical stature and assume he's going to be a monster defender when NBA defense doesn't really work like that.
There's also a thing called portability. Great players tend to be portable with some exceptions. This means how many roles can you be placed in and still help the team win without destroying what other players can do.
Wiggins was a featured scorer: failed. They tried to let Wiggins run the offense at times with Rubio there: fail Complementary scorer: failure 2 years running
If Wiggins can't be a prime option AND can't complement players like KAT or Butler who are better than him then he has low portability. If he isn't above average at anything except throwing the orange ball at the metal hoop than that is a clear sign of DO NOT SIGN HIM TO MAJOR MONEY.
There are a ton of fools that will point to Wiggins age as an excuse without looking at his growth curve and noticing the clear stall( which is now a decline with Butler around). Otto Porter on the other hand from the minute he came back in the playoffs his rookie year with the Wizards looked good. The next season he looked really good in limited minutes. When he got that offer sheet from the Nets I claimed he was max level.
Porter was considered not deserving. Wiggins was. This was due to PPG and ignoring everything else. One of these guys is one of the best 3pt shooters in the league, dominates rebounding for his position, can play all wing spots, and is a plus defender. The other guy is Canadian.
Wiggins has gone from the worst starting SF on defense to below average. So that is some progress. His offense has not progressed though. In fact, its gotten slightly worse. His effective FG%, FG%, 3Pt%, FT% are all below his career average. and, his career averages summed up to an inefficient scorer.
i watch dozens of 19 to 22 year olds have giant improvements in their game ... and then i really have to dig to see how Wiggins has gotten better.
lately, Thibodeau has been benching Wiggins when the wolves are losing in the 4th quarter. what kind of scorer is that?
You seem to not be having the same argument. Ace seems to be arguing that Wiggins is not living up to his star forecast. JimmyJ is arguing that he could have an okayish NBA career.
i pretty much agree with the Nylon Calculus article i posted that Wiggins is the 34th best prospect that is 23 and under. That is approximately where i'd place Wiggins.

umm no, i've posted lots of stuff measuring Wiggins bad defense. RAPM provides brevity.

who is insulting him?
my stand is he is a below average small forward. not average.
nah, i've said about 10 times he is the 18th to 21st best starting SF in the NBA. i'm too lazy to edit all that out. I said he was below average and produced ample evidence to back my perspective. The other guy has produced nothing to indicate Wiggins is average or better.
and i'm too lazy to go back and pretend i didn't post that Nylon Calculus article saying he is the 34th best young player. i'd have to alter about 8 posts because i've referred to it several times. i'm too lazy for that as well.
and its a smart move by Thibodeau to pull a guy who is not scoring through 3 quarters when you consider how inefficient he has been in scoring throughout the year. Hardly an insult. Just a fact about Wiggins. and every time they've done it .. its worked. lowering Wiggins minutes is good for the team and good for Wiggins.
