Mm thanks zatic az and mtlguitarist! Yeah eventually I want to be at 160 or so, but 140 is just my target for this summer. Would be super awesome to blow past that though! And yeahhhh I'm really skinny XD ;;
As far as pullups, I can do around 10 straight from a full hang before failure currently. I am definitely really light though so that probably makes it much easier. I'm doing 3 sets of 8 and just trying to go up. Have a pullup bar at home so I use that more frequently than the "exercise group" to which it belongs. I'll keep that in mind though, it definitely sounds like quite a lot haha.
And yeah I think for now since i can, I won't do much much warm-up before my work sets, and I'll start phasing that in as I lift more weight.
If I do high intensity intervals/sprints a couple times a week in addition to a 3 day split for lifting, will it interfere with gains/be inadvisable?
I'm posting this everywhere, but whatever. Strength wars videos have been kinda mediocre lately, but IMO this latest one is by far the best they have produced:

I thought it was pretty good overall, but I wasn't a fan of the way that they shot a lot of those clean and presses. The camera angle was kinda shitty in my opinion. The German guy's cleans were also atrocious. I don't do do any Oly lifting or even really know much about it, but those must've been some of the nastiest cleans I've ever seen. He also locked out maybe a third of those presses.
Still a cool competition overall though. Better than a lot of their more recent videos. Some of the competitions were really dumb, since they'd have competitions where one of the athletes was at a clear advantage due to his background. I think there was one video I saw where they had a calisthenics specialist vs. a powerlifter, and they did squats, bench press, and weighted dips or something to that effect.

The best way to increase pullups is to start doing a lot more of them. If I were you, I'd leave a pull-up bar in a door frame and every time I walked under that door frame I'd do a set of 5 to 8 pull-ups. Some people call this "greasing the groove" and the more practice you get doing pull-ups, the more efficient you'll get at pulling. Don't let your form breakdown during pull-ups though; if you feel like you start cheating, cut the set off and take a few minutes of rest.
Sounds good dude, I'll try that. Yeah I've heard the same thing so I'll just try to do that whenever I have the chance, since I have a pull-up bar at home.
Also umm I recently got a small lump pretty much next to my belly button, firmer to the touch than the skin around it, about two inches to the right of my belly button, doesn't hurt. I googled and inguinal hernia was mentioned. But those are generally lower than the navel, right? Have any of you guys had one of those from lifting? I'm looking at pictures and it's grossing me the fuck out/worrying me. And I don't want to stop working out @___@
Going to see the doctor in the coming weekend, but was wondering whether you guys had any thoughts in the interim. I did notice that I got a bug bite or something there a couple weeks ago, and it made my skin bruised-looking. But it went away and it seems weird that it might swell up again so maybe that was from lifting??? ;_;

I don't care too much about how the individual lifts look as long as the judging is consistent between the two competitors, and it generally was. It's not like this is an ipf powerlifting competition or something, so there's no reason to hold them to powerlifting standards (or strongman or any other strength sport.)
The reason the cleans looked so nasty though is probably that it was a fat bar and they were double over handing it instead of continental cleaning.

No one's body is perfectly uniform, if it doesn't hurt I wouldn't worry about it until it starts to.
Hernias are pretty common(in general population) but they appear at structural weakpoints so usually at the navel or at the midline and various other places far from the navel.
I looked at more inguinal heria pictures and I don't think it's actually a hernia. Doesn't hurt at all and I can basically pinch it right at the skin alone. So I think it's a bug bite being weird lol, I'm probably just a hypochondriac. Still gonna get it checked out but ya I think it's only on the outside of my skin.

had one of those on my left arm some years ago, it disappeared by itself. Was pretty much a hard lump of flesh or something, no idea how i got it but it didn't hurt and its been gone for some years
Lower traps were definitely the limiting factor here.. I was sitting at the bottom of and my brain was like "uhh i don't know how you expect me to stand up with this shit". Upper back almost fell apart mid way through but I ain't no bitch so I pushed through xD

Just google upper cross syndrome and lower trap rehab should give you tons to pick from. Personally I'm doing LYTs, some band work, and then REALLY focusing on pulling my should blades down and back (in to your opposite side back pocket is a good cue I saw). Everything from press, bench, pull ups, warming up, stretching, curls, extensions, etc. I make sure my lower traps are engaged.
