Breaking news, SA quietly resigned everybody. On a more serious tone, TD and TP9 feeling like they've got respectively one and two (even 3?) seasons still in them is actually quite a news in terms of longevity (but no team hopping hype here, it was pretty much stay or retire at this point). Also Pau Gasol went to the bulls who are pretty much in win now mode. They should be able to get to the conf Finals or even the Finals given how weak the east is, and a healthy D Rose could get them further maybe. Melo back to the knicks, and PG out for the season due to an ugly ugly leg fracture.

Pau also had D'Antoni as his coach though, who before he even arrived in LA had already thrown Gasol under the bus. Pau is gonna surprise some heads in my opinion. And the forgotten thing about Gasol is how he went to three straight finals and then played for Spain in that tournament in the offseason. Anyone with a brain, knew there was a chance he wasn't going to be the same the season after that (he was injured/didn't play well) but the last 2 season have been b/c of D'Antoni and his system, him being injured, and him being passive-aggressive in his rebellion to D'Antoni treating him like that. If he is healthy, him and Noah should be beast up that eastern conference once they click. A great thing about Gasol is he does w/e the team needs (and usually reads the situation well), so on a good team like the Bulls, he is much more beneficial than if he had to play that center-defender/bruiser role like Noah does. It isn't his forte and some people still judge him with that in mind. With that said, I think the Bulls perimeter players might be more important to their success, like Ace said. I'd still put them as the top dog in the East at this very moment. edit: GoGo Becky Hammon.

Pau has definitely regressed over the past few years, particularly on defense due to his declining speed and athleticism (which were never elite to begin with), but he's still a smart and skilled 7 footer with good size. I'm pretty confident that Thibs will find a way to minimize his negative impact on that end and maximize his strengths. His role on that end will not be as big as it was for the Lakers. On the other end, he should fit right into the Bulls' system of constant movement and passing. He could also lead the second unit against opposing benches when Rose and/or Noah are sitting, which he should be very capable of.

Bit off topic but I don't think Melo fits in that category with Love and old man Pau - I think he's closer to Kyrie's story (although Melo is a far more efficient player these days.) He's extremely lazy and a bit dumb on defense, but he's not untalented. I think he would've been devastating on the Bulls and under Thibs, and it's a shame we're stuck with the Knicks version.

“The NBA All-Star Game was played on that court with those stanchions. The NBA Summer League is played there…” Colangelo said in a media conference call. “The stanchion is not the issue here. Some people want to make it an issue, but it’s not.” PG landed on it, anyone can land on it, but apparently, its a non issue.

But seriously, why do so many sports continue to fail to recognize how much bigger, faster, stronger the athletes are now? cause no matter how much they say they care about player safety, profits > safety. if they had to move everything on the baseline back more, it would mean less seats.

Iverson's pretty overrated in a basketball sense. He was a good player but nowhere near as good as he was hyped in his prime. As a cultural icon to basketball he was huge. Up there with Kobe in that regard. But somewhere along the line his personal popularity correlated into his perceived talent. Truth be told he was a chucking ball hog but who could pull off amazing plays that had you staring in amazement. He didn't play D but was entertaining as hell and had the heart of a lion for a guy his size. You'd never win with Iverson as I don't think his game translated into leading a legit contender but he was a lot of fun.

Would you still trade embiid for love? Straight up? Yes. In the deal that's been floated most prominently? No.
