My bet is that Gase probably said Harbaugh did a good job or something and that probably gashed a paper cut on Jed York's delicate ego. I've never seen a franchise intentionally fuck themselves as badly as the Niners have over an ego trip. It's absurd. This is why they sucked shit from 98-2011 or whenever Harbaugh came in. It really doesn't matter how much talent you put on a field if you don't have someone who can bring it together and make it go, and from the sounds of it, this coach they hired is a joke. It's mind boggling. I hope Harbaugh crashes and burns in Michigan though. It's nothing against him, but I hate that team. How do you manage to hate every team that I like? I don't even care for college that much, but Michigan is one team I care about. Chicago, Denver, Indianapolis (or was it just Peyton)? And Ohio State is your college team? Wait, you're asking if those are the teams that I like, right? The Colts can fuck themselves now. It was only Peyton that I liked over there. And I'd rather see Harbaugh win a national championship every year for the rest of my life than ever see Ohio State win again. I stopped watching that rubbish in the first quarter after some loser dropped a wide-open 40+ yard pass from Mariota because I knew Oh State would win it. But I actually hate them because A) I'm a ND fan, and B) my brother is a huge fan and he hates on my teams for absolutely no reason, so I always want his teams to lose. So when the Patriots play the Bills, I'm actually rooting for the Patriots. Ha. It's funny that you say that though because I was reading one of your posts--it wasn't even about New England--and I was like "ugh, that fucking Patriots fan is still here." hahaha. I thought it in the most loving way possible, of course. :D
I see, that does make sense yes. How painful were the Weis years for you? ;P
Haha glad you're back, if only briefly. Maybe stay around longer this time?

i can't ever read a SL post the same after realizing he is a ND fan

I didn't realize how bad the Tomsula press conference until I read parts of the transcript.
Here he is talking about his football philosophy:
I know we’re here to talk about football and we’ll get to it, but I think all of this is part of it. All of this is part of why I’m so proud to be a part of this and what’s built. Joan in payroll. She’s not only in payroll, Joan’s my financial advisor. Joan’s making sure I’ve got enough money in my 401(k). You go on and on and on. Vilma at the front desk. You’ve got all of these wonderful people in the building. .... My X’s and O’s philosophy are quite simply you build a team to a scheme. You go into the draft, you go into free agency and you acquire … you’re in the talent acquiring business, to a scheme, OK? And then I feel like the most thing is when that’s over, now you have to do a 180. And now, see I look at it from a personnel to fit a scheme. So, I’m looking at that scheme and I’m trying to fit the pieces. .... We don’t live in a perfect world, it’s not a perfect science. Things happen. People aren’t available. So, once we have that talent and we have those players, now we have to flip that and now we look at it, we want to take that scheme and fit it to the players. So to me, when you talk philosophical, that’s the way in building your schematics and building your approach to teaching and your building blocks, that’s where the … you have to have that latitude going in there to be able to … It’s a structure. We stay within our structure, but you have to have that latitude to be able to adapt and adjust your schematics to fit the players. So, I hope that answers your question.
We're fucked.

Haha, that was excruciating to read.

That was a mess of nonsensical cliches. Good luck with that guy.

I could maybe live with this hire if the Niners had not been so bad with their hires for the decade. It's a total return to the singletary glory days.
You don't win with ra-ra retards like Mangini (who is being touted as a DC top candidate-shoot me in the dick). You win in x's and o's, drafting good personnel, and then putting those people in a position to succeed.
I assume he was alluding to a switch to a 4-3 in that mess of a interview, but who the fuck knows. Everyone seems to be convinced Aldon Smith and Lynch are suddenly going to switch to the 4-3 and get 15 sacks each like it's nothing. Smith's definitely a smaller 4-3 end, he's not played the position in years, and the LT he faced in Mizzou are nothing compared to NFL LTs. I'm more worried about him getting dominated in the run game with his hand down than anything. Lynch I think shouldn't have too much issue transitioning since he's not far removed from it, and he's taller, larger, and more rangey than Smith.

I think the best part of the Tomsula press conference is the "So, I hope that answers your question." at the end - at least he knows how horrible that went.

The niners even know how stupid the whole process was since they canned fangio. They knew there was no way for him to coexist with tomsula after they passed the much more experienced guy who was higher up on the food chain

Watching Goodell fuck up another investigation is more interesting than the Superbowl.

So I know that GB will over inflate the balls and make the refs take out air, that's why Rodgers bitches they mess with his balls. Brady likes underinflated, is it possible that they underinflate them and expect the refs to adjust it? Whole investigation is supposed to be over by the weekend, I really want an answer to this whole thing

Wait, so they weighed them at halftime and found them underweight, and left them in there? Wtf, this is a non issue then. BB gets fined, maybe a mid round pick gets taken and the whole system of how the balls are handled gets revamped. Evidentally neither the refs nor the league saw any real problem with continuing to play with them underinflated...
"In this specific case, the NFL indeed became aware of the issue in the first half — as previously pointed out by Bob Glauber of Newsday. Per the source, the league opted not to stop the game during the first half but to test the balls at halftime, which they did.
Which is when the NFL determined that 11 of the 12 balls were below two pounds below the mandatory minimum PSI of 12.5.
Plenty of other questions remains, but it appears that the NFL has determined that: (1) the balls were properly inspected before the game; and (2) there’s no reason to believe the officials should have noticed anything unusual."

Uhh I believe the reinflated them in the half - making the intention to cheat very much an issue still.
EDIT: Yeah, the refs chose to re-inflated the balls, and let the league investigate after the game. It also wasn't simply due to temperature differences as the Colts balls met the standards.
League sources have confirmed that the footballs were properly inspected and approved by referee Walt Anderson 2 hours and 15 minutes before kickoff, before they were returned to each team.
ESPN Sports Radio 810 in Kansas City reported that the Patriots' footballs were tested at the half, re-inflated at that time when they were found to be low, then put back in play for the second half and then tested again after the game. All of the balls the Colts used met standards, according to the report.
It should also be noted that the Colts suspected this and reported it to the league already back in November:
Sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Wednesday that the Colts had concerns about underinflated balls after their regular-season game against the visiting Patriots on Nov. 16.
During that game, Colts safety Mike Adams twice intercepted Tom Brady and gave the balls to the Colts' equipment manager to save -- and both times there were concerns about the balls feeling underinflated, sources told Schefter.
Those sources said the Colts raised concerns to the league, which was aware of the issue going into this weekend's AFC title game.
If I was the Ravens I would begin to wonder about their game.

I wonder if they tested the Colts footballs as well, just in case it was something that was affecting both (like the temperature or something) for completeness sake.
|
They did and Colts balls were all within the limit - see above.

I hope this investigation speeds up. I don't want to have to hear about this shit the next two weeks. It's already inundating everything I read. If something was done: fine them heavily and take some draft picks away. Then change the rules surrounding handling of balls so they're kept by referees throughout the game.
Also, there are a lot of assumptions being thrown around: that Belichick was in on this. Wait for the investigation to come out maybe? Also, with all the cameras the Patriots have (lol) I'd be surprised if there weren't video evidence of this happening on the field.
And, if the league was made aware of this in week 11 by the Colts, why wasn't something more stringent done to ensure it wasn't happening?
